Product Usage Instructions

Before You Begin:

  1. Search the Google Play store for the VTech EC Tool app or scan the provided QR code to access the app and installation documents.
  2. Download and install the app on your Android smartphone or tablet.
  3. Open the EC Tool app and follow the prompts to create a customized profile for your PTAC or Heat Pump. Note that separate profiles are required for Conventional PTACs and Heat Pumps.
  4. Ensure you have a USB-C to USB-C cable for connecting your smart device to the thermostat.

Installation Steps:

  1. Verify that the PTAC unit is functioning properly using the face controls. Power down the PTAC and remove the cover.
  2. Locate the Thermostat Wiring Connector included with your Zoneline unit. It is usually located in the base pan area below the control box.
  3. Using wire-nuts, attach the supplied VTech Wiring Harness to the corresponding wires of the Zoneline Thermostat Wiring Harness. Refer to the provided table for the correct connections.
  4. Once the wiring harnesses are connected, plug the Zoneline harness connector into the socket on the Zoneline unit, located to the right of the red Aux Set button.
  5. Plug the VTech Wiring Harness into the Controller module and ensure it is firmly connected.
  6. Restore power to the PTAC/PTHP.
  7. With the unit connected to power but in OFF mode, update the Auxiliary Control menu to enable Wired Thermostat functionality:
  8. Press the red Aux Set button.
  9. Using the face controls, press the Mode button until the first digit in the display shows MODE 6 (Remote Thermostat).
  10. Using the face controls, press the Up arrow to turn this option ON, then press again to select 6A (Auto changeover thermostat).
  11. Press the red Aux Set button again to save the setting and exit the configuration mode.
  12. Install batteries into the thermostat. The LED on the controller will change to solid green, indicating successful communication with the Amana unit.

Important Note:
The W960 thermostat comes pre-registered to the controller. Do not mix up the units when removing them from the packaging. Avoid pressing the pairing button on the controller, as this can delete the registration and require re-pairing of the thermostat and controller.

Note:
For further configuration options, tap the Menu icon on the thermostat and navigate to System Settings > System Configuration > Adv Config via App > Plug cable for setup.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Search the Google Play store for the “VTech EC Tool” app or scan the QR code below to access the app and installation documents on the VTech site. Download and install the app (.apk file) on your Android smartphone or tablet. Open the EC Tool app, tap menu > profiles, then follow the prompts for creating a customized profile for your PTAC or Heat Pump. This profile will be used later to provision your thermostats.

Note:
You must create separate profiles for Conventional PTACs vs. Heat Pumps for the unit to function properly.

Be sure to have a USB-C to USB-C cable as you will need to connect your smart device to the USB-C input terminal on the thermostat for provisioning.

LET’S GET STARTED
