Product Information

The LevelSet device is a small module designed for installation in lighting fixtures. It allows the configuration of the fixture’s power-on level to 50% by default, or other options including 65%, 80%, or 100%. The LevelSet module eliminates the need for a dimmer or different wall switch. Instead, the existing on/off switch is used to change the power-on level. For consistent power-on levels, all fixtures on the circuit should have the LevelSet module installed. The LevelSet device features a manual switch on the back that can be pressed through the heat shrink. It is labeled “LED LEVEL SET”. The default power-on level of 50% has been chosen for various reasons.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Ensure all fixtures on the circuit have the LevelSet module installed.
  2. To set a new power-on level, follow the LevelSet procedure below:
  3. Toggle the wall switch on and off 16 times within approximately 2 minutes.
  4. Observe the cycling levels on the fixture(s).
  5. When it reaches the desired level, turn the wall switch off immediately.
  6. The configuration is now complete. When powered on, the fixture will turn on at the selected level.
  7. This procedure can be repeated at any time to change the selected power-on level.

OVERVIEW

  • The LevelSet device does not contain an address or other identifying information. This means that any LevelSet device be installed in any fixture. The default level is 50%. You can always increase the power to 65%, 80% or 100% if the need arises.

There are several reasons that 50% is the default level:

  • Most people, especially working with computers prefer a lower level, Reduces LED glare
  • Most people can barely tell the difference between 50% and 100% , the eye adjusts for light level automatically.
  • 50% saves 50% of the energy (electric bill) – forever
  • 50% power makes the LEDs and Driver run much cooler – extending the life and eliminating maintenance
  • You can purchase the higher power fixtures in the fixture line, which are usually the same price as the lower power, and set the level as desired later. Buy the 50W version for all jobs, instead of the 40W or 30W versions
  • Once the level is changed the level stays at the new level, even after lights are turned OFF and ON, until the LevelSet procedure below is used to set to a new level.

Manually changing the light level with internal tact switch – there is a dome switch on the back side of the LS about where the ETL logo is. Pressing it will change the level by one setting. This is useful for testing the LS with your model of fixture before installation. Each press will change the level by one level.

Changing the level with the wall toggle switch, follow this procedure.

  1. Fixture should be on for 1 min or more, if not turn it on for at least 1 min
  2. Turn the fixture off for at least 1 min (with most fixtures 20 sec is OK)
  3. Turn the fixture on and wait 5 seconds, be accurate – use a watch
  4. Turn the fixture off at least 1 min (with most fixtures 20 sec is OK)
  5. Turn the fixture on and wait 5 seconds, be accurate – use a watch
  6. Turn the fixture off at least 1 min (with most fixtures 20 sec is OK)
  7. Turn the fixture on and it will cycle through all 4 levels starting at the lowest level, each level for 8 sec
  8. The levels will repeat 4 times — i.e. Level 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4 (1 is 50%, 4 is 100%)— this will take 16×8 sec or about 2 min
  9. When it gets to the level you want to set the fixture(s) too, turn the wall switch off as soon as it gets to the level you want
  10. If the fixture is not turned off during one of these 16 levels that are cycling, the LS will return to original level before programming was started

This completes the configuration. When powered on, the fixture will turn on at the selected level. This procedure can be repeated any time to change the selected level.
