Continental 3H-IMMO Immobilizer Active Antenna

Product Information

The Continental Immobilizer 3H_IMMO is a system designed to provide vehicle security through immobilization. It consists of various components, including the active antenna, base station IC, serial interface, voltage regulator, and LF antenna. The active antenna generates a magnetic field for charging the transponder and transmitting modulated data. It is connected to the BCM (Body Control Module) via a synchronous serial link. The IMMO_ANT component is installed on the vehicle lockset and is driven by the BCM to generate the magnetic field. The base station IC in the active antenna generates signals for transmission to the transponder in the key and drives the antenna. It also receives the answer from the transponder and sends it back to the BCM. The communication between the components is controlled by software in the BCM. This product complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules and operates within certain conditions to avoid interference.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Installation: Install the IMMO_ANT component on the vehicle lockset as instructed in the vehicle’s user manual or installation guide.
  2. Connection: Connect the active antenna to the BCM using the provided synchronous serial link. Ensure proper connection to the battery supply and ground.
  3. Power Supply: Make sure the voltage regulator in the active antenna is properly stabilized by connecting it to an appropriate power source.
  4. Initialization: The BCM sends data for initialization and authentication to the base station IC. Ensure proper communication between the BCM and base station IC for successful initialization.
  5. Transponder Communication: The active antenna generates a magnetic field to charge the transponder and transmit data. Ensure that the transponder is within range of the active antenna for communication.
  6. Complete Communication Control: The software in the BCM controls the entire communication process between the components. No user intervention is required for this step.

Note: Any modifications or changes to the device not approved by the manufacturer may void the user’s authority to operate the equipment. Follow all safety guidelines and instructions provided in the user manual.

SYSTEM OVERVIEW

The immobilizer active antenna is suited to be used in combination with potentially two BCMs (one from Continental and one from CK) and 1 key module from Renault. System integration with competitor product is not assumed by Continental. Validation for additional combinations can be quoted upon request. The whole immobilizer function is accomplished by the mutual authentication between key and BCM while the active antenna is playing a role of charging the transponder in key and data modulation (demodulation) in the communication path. Magnetic field generation:

The active antenna contains base station for driven antenna coil which generates the LF field for charging transponder as well as carrying the modulated data. Serial communication with BCM: The active antenna is connected to BCM via synchronous serial link. LF communication data is converted to baseband signals by active antenna and transmitted in half-duplex mode between transponder and BCM on this interface. The component of IMMO_ANT is to be installed on Vehicle lockset, the IMMO_ANT will be driven by BCM to generate magnetic filed which can charge TxP and works as carrier of data transition. In 3H_IMMO vehicle IMMO_ANT has no function of illumination. The immobilizer circuit contains a voltage regulator, a serial interface, a base station IC and an LF antenna. The serial interface is the communication interface for the communication with the BCM. The BCM sends the data for initialization and authentication to the Base station IC. The active antenna contains the ABIC1 immobilizer base station IC, a ceramic resonator for clock generation, and a voltage regulator for stabilization of power input. It needs to be connected to the BCM for the communication function as well as to battery supply and ground. The Base station IC generates the signals for the transmission to the transponder in the key and drives the antenna. After transmission, the base station IC receives the answer from the transponder and sends the answer to the BCM. The software in the BCM controls the complete communication.
