SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
POLARIZED PLUG
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
CAUTION
No user-serviceable parts inside. Do not attempt to service this product.
FIRST USE
- Before the Single Burner is used for the first time, it should be heated up at maximum setting for approximately 4 minutes without a pot. During this curing process, the protective coating is hardened and obtains its maximum strength.
- The Single Burner may smoke the first time it is used- it is not defective and the smoke will burn off within a few minutes.
- Do not leave the unit ON without any pots/pans on the Sealed Burners, after the curing pro-cess.
- Do not use as a portable heater.
- Make sure the power supply cord does not touch hot elements or cooking utensils.
- For daily cooking, wipe excess water/condensation off pots, lids, and utensils prior to use.
- Make sure that hot pots/pans do not touch the Housing Unit – these could damage the sur-face finish.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Before plugging in your Single Burner, check to ensure that the electrical circuit is not overloaded with other appliances. This unit should always be operated on a separate 120 volt, AC circuit.
-
Place unit on a flat, smooth surface. Be sure to place it in a safe area where it will not fall or be pulled down by the cord.
NOTE
Provide at least 4 to 6 inches of space above and around the unit for proper ventilation. -
Plug unit into electrical outlet and turn the Temperature Control Knob(s) from OFF to the desired setting.
-
When using a pot or pan, you should place it in the center of the burner. It is recommended that you use a pot or pan that is the same size as the burner.
-
When not in use, unplug to assure the unit is OFF. This helps to prevent accidental burns.
CLEANING
- Turn Temperature Control Knob(s) OFF.
- Always unplug unit from electrical outlet and allow to cool before cleaning.
- NEVER IMMERSE UNIT IN WATER OR OTHER LIQUIDS.
- Do not attempt to separate burner from the unit.
- Use a damp, soapy cloth or sponge to clean the surface of the sealed burners, burner rings, legs, and housing unit. NEVER USE HARSH ABRASIVE OR STEEL WOOL PADS ON ANY PART OF THE BURNER.
- Thoroughly wipe soap from sealed burners and burner rings. Then dry.
- There are no user serviceable parts. Any servicing other than cleaning should be performed by an authorized service center.
NOTE
A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from
becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. If a longer cord is
required, extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised
in their use. If an extension cord is used, (1) the marked electrical rating
of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of
the Single Burner (120V, 1100W) and (2) the longer cord should be arranged so
that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled
on by children or tripped over unintentionally. If the plug does not fit
securely into the AC outlet or if the AC plug or outlet feels warm, do not use
that AC outlet.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this require 220V or can it connect into a 110V outlet? Thanks!
It required the normal 110–115V US standard voltage. However, because the wattage is so low, be mindful that this is actually for for emergencies.
What amount of amps is this using?
I don’t know because the hotplate doesn’t list the amps. But since you undoubtedly want to know how much work it can accomplish, the answer is “not much.” It takes forever to heat anything, even at its highest setting, so I bought it to keep in the basement for occasional usage. Additionally, occasionally one of the burners fails mid-heating process, which renders it all but unusable. I advise customers to shop elsewhere.
Will it bring water in a medium-sized pot to a boil? To keep my winemaking supplies clean, I need boiling water. Carrying boiling water around is plenty for me.
Although it will take some time, the water will eventually boil.
How big is the cooking surface? Can you cook on it with a 10-inch skillet?
Its length is just over 4.5 inches. Because it has a smaller surface area and would certainly burn a portion of the food if not churned properly, it would definitely function, but you would need to tend to it more.
Does the burner’s intensity actually change with temperature, or does it just cycle on and off at varying rates?
It offers different heat settings. When compared to a built-in stove burner of comparable size, the control is fairly decent, but since the burner is just 1100 watts, I would say it goes from simmer to medium or medium-high.

Are the burners on electric stoves supposed to turn on and off?
An electric range or cooktop’s surface burners will often cycle on and off. This is true for both radiant and electric coil burners on a smooth glass cooking surface. This is done in order to maintain a constant temperature at the selected heat source.
How can I tell if my burner is in operation?
Check to check if the burner glows by turning on the electricity. This will indicate whether the socket is the source of the connection issue. The old socket is in perfect functioning order if the new burner in it glows red. The socket is broken if the burner does not glow.
What power output does a single electric burner have?
On an electric stovetop, larger burners require more electricity to operate. Numerous cooktops have burner sizes ranging from 1,200 watts for the smallest to 3,000 watts for the biggest, costing approximately 14 cents and 36 cents per hour, respectively.
Can you cook on an electric burner directly?
To quickly char something, place it directly on the burner. You don’t actually need an open flame to scorch a dish, like the eggplant in this dip recipe, which calls for an open flame. Sauer claims that heating your meal directly on the burner will provide the same results.
