**BERTSCHAT ELITE Heated Socks Instructions
**
BEFORE FIRST USE
The batteries are not fully charged and must therefore be charged before first use for 8 hours minimum, regardless of the colour of the indicator LED. To get started insert the charger plugs in the charging ports of the batteries. Fully charging the batteries activates them, thus allowing the full capacity to be accessed. The LED on the charger lights up in red during charging and turns green once the battery is fully charged. Finally, remove the batteries from the charger, place them in the appropriate pockets in the socks and connect them to the plugs.
SWITCHING ON THE HEATING
The socks are switched on by pressing the button on the side. After that,
pressing the button again changes the temperature settings. When 3 LEDs are
visible the socks are heating at maximum power while 2 or 1 LED indicates
heating at the lower levels, allowing for longer battery life. Pressing once
more at the lowest level turns the heating function off.
A sensor in the shirt ensures that the temperature always remains at the set
value.
TEMPERATURE SETTINGS
The temperature can be set by pressing the silicon button. When in use the LEDs on the button light up according to which setting is active:
Colour LED| Heating position|
---|---|---
3 LEDS| Highest position
2 LEDS| Medium position
1 LEDS| Lowest position
LED does not light up| Heating function switched of
OPERATING TIME
The heating duration of the socks depends on several factors: primarily the
ambient temperature and secondly the level of insulation added by socks worn
over the socks. Lastly, a high setting will obviously deplete the batteries
faster than any of the lower settings. It should also be noted that the
batteries only reach their full charging capacity after a few charging cycles.
Consider ordering an additional battery pack for longer use time.
SWITCHING OFF
The heating function is switched off by pressing the ON/OFF buttons until the
LEDs no longer light up or alternatively by simply disconnecting the
batteries.
After use of the socks, always disconnect the batteries and keep them stored
in their intended pockets. Store the socks and the batteries in a dry and
clean environment at room temperature.
STORAGE AND BATTERY MAINTENANCE
If you don’t intend on using the socks for a longer period, we recommended storing the batteries charged between 50 and 75%. To do this first fully charge the batteries, then switch on only one side of the socks at the medium setting for 20 – 30 minutes. Finally make sure to disconnect the batterie from the socks. We urge to repeat these steps every 2 months to ensure that the batteries remain in good condition.
ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS
- Always switch off the socks after use.
- Disconnect the batteries when not in use.
- Store socks, battery, and adapter in a cool and dry location.
- The batteries should only be charged with the original charger.
- Always remove the battery from the socks before charging them.
- Never pull too hard on the socks as the heating elements could get damaged.
- Keep the shirt away from sharp or pointed objects.
CONNECTING THE REMOTE CONTROL (OPTIONAL)
The version with remote control should be paired before first use. If the connexion has however been lost it will first have to be repaired before the socks will respond to the remote again. Perform the following steps for connecting the remote control:
- Switch on both socks by pressing the ON button.
- Press the ON button of the sock once more and hold it down for 5 seconds until the LED flashes.
- Press position L, M or H on the remote control to make the connection.
- The sock is now connected. Repeat this process for the other sock as well.
WASHING INSTRUCTIONS
- Only wash by hand! Use a soft washing agent and handle the sock with care.
- Only allow the socks to dry naturally and do not place them on the heating or any other heat source.
- If the socks are damp, allow them to dry fully before charging.
- Do not dry clean the socks.
- Do not iron the socks.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If you notice that the socks do not get warm, you can do the following test:
- Charge both batteries at the same time and interchange batteries. This determines whether the battery or the mitten is no longer functioning properly.
- Does the LED on the charging cable not light up? The plug or charging cable is defective and does not receive any power.
- Insert both connectors in the socks in the ports of the batteries. Now place the batteries in the pockets inside the socks and then close the zip.
- The heating is switched on when pressing the black silicon ON/OFF button on the top of the socks. The LED on the silicon button lights up to confirm that the heating function is switched on.
- When the LED is lit up the socks are heating: you should be able to feel the generated heat within 1 minute at the fingers and at the top of the socks.
WARNINGS
- The socks are not suitable for use by minors.
- Do not make any changes to the socks and/or battery.
- In case of damage to battery or charger, stop using the product.
- Leave the protective plastic around the battery.
- If the battery swells up, immediately stop using it and contact the manufacturer.
- Do not drill through the battery packs or make holes in the battery in any other way.
- Make sure the heating elements do not overlap for a longer period, this could lead to a situation where the temperature is too hot.
- This product is only intended to be used by people and should not be used on animals.
- The socks can become very warm. If you have a reduced sensitivity to heat or cold, we recommend consulting a doctor first.
- In case of a higher ambient temperature, the sensation of heat will be stronger. In that case, set the socks to a lower position that does feel comfortable.
- Incorrect use of the batteries may result in a possible explosion hazard.
- Avoid direct skin contact with the heating elements as this could lead to skin burns. If you notice a hole in the fabric or a visible heating wire, stop using the socks and contact your supplier immediately.

DISPOSING OF THE BATTERIES
As we also supply batteries with our product, we are obliged according to legislation that applies to batteries to point out the following to you:
Batteries may not be disposed of as household waste. The consumer is legally obliged to return batteries separately after use. Old batteries could contain harmful substances that could damage your health or the environment if not properly stored and disposed of. However, batteries also contain important raw materials such as iron, zinc, manganese, or nickel and can be reused. After use, you can return the batteries to us or hand them in for free at a location near you (e.g., at a shop or a municipal collection point). The crossed waste container symbol indicates that batteries should never be thrown out with your household waste.
