Function
The CALEFFI XF magnetic filter separates impurities in the system to a size of
160 μm. It minimises the problem of mesh clogging thanks to its large
filtering surface.

Assembly (fig. B – C)
Installation
fig. D – E – F – G – H – I – L – M)
Turn the tee fitting to adapt the connections for horizontal or vertical pipes (coupling with position references for 3/4” – 1” – 1 1/4” – Ø 22- Ø 28) and only install with the body in a vertical position (fig. D), in accordance with the flow direction indicated by the arrow. Leave a space of at least 110 mm free at the bottom of the strainer, to allow removal of the central magnet (fig. M).
N.B. (fig. E-F-G – H – I): for versions 577200 and 577300, install thefittings supplied in the package on the pipes (fig. E), fully slot the pipes into the tee fitting connections (fig. F), then tighten the nuts. In a retrofit situation, cut the pipes as indicated (fig. G). Fully slot the pipe into the side with the arrow and then into the other side (fig. H). Tighten the nuts (fig. I).
Release the air which has accumulated (fig. L) at the top of the device using a screwdriver or 5 mm radiator bleed key to unscrew the top cap. Fully tighten at the end of the procedure, making sure it is properly sealed.
By-pass adjustment(fig. N-O)
For codes 577800 (1 1/2”) and 577900 (2”) only, the flow rate through the
device can be restricted from 100 % (fig. N) to 50 % (fig. O), using an Allen
key (size 10) to turn the switch on the body.
Installation diagrams (fig. P)
Maintenance and sludge drain (fig. M-Q-R-S)
Switch off the circulator. Remove the central magnet (fig. M). Open the drain
valve to drain the impurities (fig. Q), keeping the system filling system
running. Turn the top knob clockwise to clean the filter mesh using the
special internal brushes (fig. R). At the end of the cleaning procedure, shut
off the drain valve and align the indicator on the top knob with the reference
mark on the body of the device (fig. S).
The filter mesh cleaning mechanism with special brushes means that the filter does not have to be disassembled in order to carry out maintenance work.
Use of chemical additives (fig. T)
The device can be used as an access point for introducing chemical additives
into the circuit, to protect the system. When using liquid additives, you will
need to provide two shut-off valves upstream and downstream of the device
