Introduction
The Baby Lock Open Toe Foot is the perfect foot for doing applique or stitching around intricate areas of decorative stitches. You will notice that this foot has a larger groove cut out of the underside to accommodate thicker stitches and decorative threads. When you are doing Madeira Applique and using a wing needle, this foot is very helpful for turning corners with precision.
When doing applique on your Baby Lock machine, you have several stitches from which to choose. To do traditional applique, select the zigzag stitch and adjust the stitch length to .5mm and the width from 2.5mm up to 3.5mm. For a more decorative or hand applique look, use the applique stitch that is built in on your Baby Lock machine.
The stitch will look like:
On the Ellageo (ESG, ESG2 ESG3) you may also use stitch 1-33. This is a very narrow applique stitch that can be used for applique or to finish quilt bindings.
