Baby Lock Sewing Accessories – Side Cutter Foot
Product Information
The Side Cutter Foot (BLG-SCF) is a sewing accessory designed to simulate a serged stitch on a sewing machine. It allows you to easily sew an overcasting stitch to lock and align the thread over the fabric edge. The foot also features a built-in knife blade for trimming raw edges.
Usage Instructions
- Remove the presser foot from your sewing machine.
- Select a stitch from stitches 1-25 to 1-29, which are designated for use with the Side Cutter Foot.
- Make sure the fork of the side cutter’s operating lever is firmly set onto the needle clamp screw.
- Position the side cutter so that the side cutter pin is aligned with the notch in the presser foot holder.
- Lower the presser foot.
- Cut a fabric section of approximately 20 mm (approx. 3/4 inch) using the built-in knife blade.
- Position the fabric so that the right side of the cut is on top of the guide plate and the left side of the cut is underneath the presser foot.
- Thread the needle manually and pull out a long section of the upper thread. Pass it below the presser foot and pull it out in the fabric feed direction.
- Start sewing.
Note:
- If the width has been adjusted, turn the handwheel by hand to check that the needle does not touch the side cutter. If the needle touches the side cutter, it might cause the needle to break.
- When sewing straight stitches while using the Side Cutter Foot, the seam margin should be approximately 5 mm (approx. 3/16 inch).
- If the fabric is not positioned correctly, the fabric will not be cut. Ensure the fabric is set as explained in the previous section before starting to sew.
