Product Description: The Malloy 14 Open Frame Forged Lantern is a light fixture designed for installation in accordance with applicable local installation codes. It features an open frame design and requires bulbs for operation (bulbs not included). The lantern should be assembled and installed by a person familiar with its construction, operation, and associated hazards. Careful inspection of the item and its contents is necessary prior to installation.

Assembly Instructions

  1. Carefully remove all parts from the box. Place on a clean, soft surface.
  2. Install the mounting plate (B) to the junction box and secure it with the mounting screws (C).
  3. Secure the collar loop (D) to the mounting plate (B) using pliers to tighten the locknut.
  4. Install the canopy (E) to the collar loop (D) and secure it with the collar ring (F).
  5. Determine the desired overall length and amount of chain (H) needed. Shorten the chain using chain pliers and keep any extra chain.
  6. Attach the chain (H) to the collar loop (D) and fixture loop (I) using quick links (G). Secure the quick links (G).
  7. Hang the fixture cluster (J) to the hook on the bottom of the fixture loop (I), then pass the fixture wires through the hole in the fixture frame.
  8. Thread the fixture wire and ground wire through the chain (H). When reaching the collar loop (D), ensure there is no tension on the wires. Cut any excess wires, leaving enough to reach the junction box.
  9. Separate the two sides of the molded wire and strip insulation on each 5/8.
  10. Loosen the collar ring (F) and carefully let the canopy (E) slip down the chain (H).
  11. Twist all fixture wires together and slip them through the center hole of the collar loop (D). Untwist and separate the wires to prepare for connection.
  12. Wrap the fixture ground wire (bare copper) around the green grounding screw as shown in diagram 1. Tighten it securely. Continue the fixture ground wire and connect it to the supply ground wire using a wire nut (A). Ensure proper grounding of the fixture.
  13. Connect the fixture neutral wire (ribbed) to the supply neutral wire (usually white) using a wire nut (A).
  14. Connect the fixture hot wire (smooth with markings) to the supply hot wire (usually black) using a wire nut (A). Caution: Do not reverse the hot and neutral connections.
  15. Ensure all wire connections are tight, then carefully tuck them into the junction box.
  16. Install the canopy (E) to the collar loop (D) and secure it with the collar ring (F).
  17. Install the light bulbs into the sockets.

Care Instructions
Clean the lantern only with a soft dry cloth or feather duster.
Do not use abrasive or chemical agents.

Inspect item and contents carefully. If any damage or defect is found, do not install. Retain all packaging material until installation is complete and approved.

TOOLS REQUIRED

(NOT INCLUDED):

  • Phillips Screwdriver
  • Slip Joint Pliers
  • Wire Strippers
  • Slotted Screwdriver
  • Measuring Tape
  • Chain Pliers
  • Wire Cutters
  1. Carefully remove all parts from the box. Place on a clean, soft surface.

  2. Install mounting plate (B) to the junction box and secure with mounting screws (C).

  3. Secure collar loop (D) to mounting plate (B) using pliers to tighten locknut.

  4. Install canopy (E) to collar loop (D) and secure with collar ring (F).

  5. Determine desired overall length, and amount of chain (H) needed. Shorten chain using chain pliers. (Keep extra chain)

  6. Attach chain (H) to collar loop (D) and fixture loop (I) using quick links (G). Secure quick links (G).

  7. Hang fixture cluster (J) to hook on bottom of fixture loop (I), then pass fixture wires through the hole in fixture frame.

  8. Thread fixture wire and ground wire through chain (H).
    NOTE: When you reach the collar loop (D), ensure there is no tension on the wires. Cut excess wires, being sure to leave enough to reach the junction box.

  9. eparate two sides of molded wire, and strip insulation on each 5/8″.

  11. Twist all fixture wires together, and slip through center hole of collar loop (D).

  12. Wrap fixture ground wire (bare copper) around the green grounding screw (see diagram 1). Tighten. Continue fixture ground wire and connect to supply ground wire (usually green or bare copper) using wire nut (A).
    NOTE : It is imperative that the fixture is grounded.

  13. Connect fixture neutral wire (ribbed) to the supply neutral wire (usually white) using wire nut (A).

  14. Connect fixture hot wire (smooth with markings) to the supply hot wire (usually black) using wire nut (A).
    CAUTION : Do not reverse the hot and neutral connections.

  15. Make sure all wire connections are tight, then carefully tuck into the junction box.

  16. Install canopy (E) to collar loop (D) and secure with collar ring (F).

  17. Install light bulbs into the sockets.

Care Instructions

Clean only with a soft dry cloth or feather duster. Do Not use abrasive or chemical agents.
