GUIDE TO ASSEMBLY:
Prepare three timber cylinders (not supplied) to a maximum of 25mm in
diameter. Lengths should be approximately 250mm for the top section, 285mm for
the middle section and 275mm for the bottom section depending upon final
length required. Good quality glue or epoxy may be used between brass and
wooden parts for strong joints if required.
Machining Top Section:
To insert part F, drill one end of the top piece of timber to a depth of 20mm using a 11/32″ drill. On the opposite end turn a 12mm spigot 22.5mm in diameter to screw into the ferrule (Part B). Turn this section to taper between 25mm at the top end and 24mm at the bottom. Apply a finish and assemble using parts B & F (screw the longer section fo the brass connector into the timber).
Machining Middle Section:
Drill this section of timber using a 15/32″ drill at one end and an 11/32″ drill at the opposite end, both to a depth of 20mm. Turn this section to taper between 24mm at the top and 20mm at the bottom. Apply a finish and assemble using part G at the top and part H at the bottom (screw the longer brass section of part h into the timber).
Machining Bottom Section:
Drill one end of this section using a 15/32″ drill to a depth of 20mm. Turn this section to taper between 20mm at the top and 18mm at the bottom. Apply a finish. Insert connector part I into the top and rubber part J onto the bottom.
