Required Tools and Accessories
No specific information provided in the user manual extract. Preparing the
Blanks
- Layout the parts in the correct order and mark the center of each end for the coupler and the drive center.
- Ensure the surface is trimmed perpendicular to the coupler hole end of the blank and drill a hole parallel to the blank.
- Drill a 11/32 hole, 22.2 mm (7/8) deep, in the center of the coupler end of the blank.
- Apply epoxy to the outside of the coupler and inside the hole, then press the coupler into the hole.
Note: Refer to Fig. A for visual representation of the coupler, drive center, and live center.
Turning the Blanks
- Mount the blank onto a lathe using a drive center and a revolving live center centered in the hole of the coupler (refer to Fig. A).
- Turn the blank down to the diameter of the shoe horn coupler end (37/64 or 15 mm) until the surface is flush with the coupler.
- Cut a 16 mm (5/8) diameter x 16 mm (5/8) long tenon at the top of the blank for the brass cap to fit onto.
- Stop the lathe, remove the handle, test the fit of the cap, and confirm the look of your design.
- Sand and apply finish to the handle
Note: Refer to Fig. B for visual representation of the coupler, tenon, and brass cap.
Assembly
- With the handle finished, glue the cap onto the tenon using epoxy. Apply epoxy on the tenon and inside of the cap, then press them together. Wipe off any excess glue with a paper towel.
- After the glue has set on the cap, screw the shoe horn into the coupler to complete the project.
Note: Ensure proper alignment and secure attachment during assembly.

- Layout the parts in the correct order and mark the centre of each end for the coupler and the drive centre.
- Drilling the coupler hole. Ensure the surface is trimmed perpendicular to the coupler hole end of the blank and the hole is drilled parallel to the blank.
- Drill a 11/32″ hole, 22.2 mm (7/8″) deep, in the centre of the coupler end of the blank.
- After drilling the hole, apply some epoxy to the outside of the coupler and inside the hole. Then press the coupler into the hole.
TURNING THE BLANKS
- Mount the blank onto a lathe using a drive centre and a revolving live centre centred in the hole of the coupler, as shown in figure A.
