Product Information
The Needle Threader Kit (CT-NT-CH) and Seam Ripper Kit (CT-SR-G) are woodworking kits manufactured by Carbatec Pty Ltd. The kits include all the necessary tools and accessories to create needle threaders and seam rippers. The barrels of the kits are made out of turned wood or acrylic blanks, providing durability and a smooth finish. The Needle Threader Kit (CT-NT-CH) includes a clip assembly and relevant tip assembly to securely hold the thread. It is designed to make threading needles easier and more efficient. The Seam Ripper Kit (CT-SR-G) includes a clip assembly and relevant tip assembly that can be reversed for safe storage. It is designed to remove stitches and seams without damaging the fabric.
REQUIRED TOOLS AND ACCESSORIES
- 7 mm pen mandrel (MAND-92)
- 8 mm Drill Bit (BPD-8MM-PRC)
- Barrel Trimmer (PKTRIMKIT)
- 2 pcs Bushings Set (BUSH-SRNT)
- 2 part epoxy glue or CA super glue (cyanoacrylate)
- Wood or acrylic blank, minimum size 3/4″ square
- Sanding and finishing supplies
PREPARING THE BLANK
- Cut a 3/4” or larger blank, to the length of the brass tubes (add 1/16” for squaring off).
- Drill an 8mm hole through the centre of the blank.
- Spread glue over the tube.
- Insert the tubes into the blank with a twisting motion to spread the glue evenly inside.
- Centre the tubes lengthwise inside the blank.
- When the glue is dry, trim the ends of the blank flush to the tube.
TURNING THE BLANK
- Place the bushings and blank onto the mandrel according to figure 1.
- Thread on the knurled nut and hand tighten on the mandrel to hold components in place.
- Slide the tailstock to the mandrel shaft and lock in place (do not overtighten or it could damage or bend the mandrel).
- Turn the handle ends down, flush with the bushings using turning chisels, finishing by gradually increasing grades of sandpaper.
- Finish the blank by applying polish or other finish.
ASSEMBLY
- Press the clip assembly to one end of the tube.
- Slide the relevant tip assembly in and out of both ends to assure a secure fit.
- When not in use, reverse tip assembly to safely store the tool.
