The Baby Lock Sewing Accessories Free-Motion Open Toe Quilting Foot (BLSR-FMO and BLDY-FMO) is a specialized sewing foot used for free-motion quilting. It is designed to be compatible with Baby Lock sewing machines. The foot allows for the creation of zigzag or decorative stitches and straight lines on fabrics with uneven thickness. It is also suitable for sewing various decorative stitches. The foot can be identified by the “O” marking on it.

Instructions

The Free-Motion Open Toe Quilting Foot is used for free-motion quilting with zigzag or decorative stitches or for free-motion quilting of straight lines on fabric with an uneven thickness. Various decorative stitches can be sewn using the Free-Motion Open Toe Quilting Foot. The Free-Motion Open Toe Quilting Foot can also be used with the straight stitch needle plate when selecting one of the straight stitches. We recommend using the Free-Motion Open Toe Quilting Foot with free-motion sewing of fabrics of uneven thicknesses.
Note: This foot can be identified and referred to by the “O” on the foot.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Set the sewing machine to free-motion sewing mode.
  2. Select a stitch pattern.
  3. Remove the presser foot holder.
  4. Attach the Free-Motion Open Toe Quilting Foot by positioning the pin of the quilting foot (1) above the needle clamp screw (2) and aligning the lower-left of the quilting foot and the presser bar (3).
  5. Hold the quilting foot in place with your right hand, and tighten the presser foot holder screw using the included screwdriver with your left hand.
  6. Be sure to securely tighten the screws with the included screwdriver. Otherwise, the needle may touch the quilting foot causing it to bend or break.
  7. Use both hands to stretch the fabric taut, then move the fabric at a consistent pace in order to sew uniform stitches roughly 2.0-2.5mm (approx. 1/16” – 3/32”) in length.
