Safety Notes

Please read this manual carefully and completely before you use the device for the first time. The device may only be used by qualified personnel and repaired by PCE Instruments personnel.
Damage or injuries caused by non-observance of the manual are excluded from our liability and not covered by our warranty.

  • The device must only be used as described in this instruction manual. If used otherwise, this can cause dangerous situations for the user and damage to the meter.
  • The instrument may only be used if the environmental conditions (temperature, relative humidity, …) are within the ranges stated in the technical specifications. Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, extreme humidity or moisture.
  • Do not expose the device to shocks or strong vibrations.
  • The case should only be opened by qualified PCE Instruments personnel.
  • Never use the instrument when your hands are wet.
  • You must not make any technical changes to the device.
  • The appliance should only be cleaned with a damp cloth. Use only pH-neutral cleaner, no abrasives or solvents.
  • The device must only be used with accessories from PCE Instruments or equivalent.
  • Before each use, inspect the case for visible damage. If any damage is visible, do not use the device.
  • Do not use the instrument in explosive atmospheres.
  • The measurement range as stated in the specifications must not be exceeded under any circumstances.
  • Since lifting loads is associated with hazards, certain obligations must be fulfilled by the manufacturer as well as the user in order to prevent these hazards. The use of the measuring equipment must not constitute a hazard at any time.
  • The permissible nominal loads [MAX] of the test equipment and other means used (e. g. crane, load sling, etc.) must not be exceeded under any circumstances.
  • When not in use, no loads must be attached to the scales.
  • Before using the scales, make sure that all brackets are firmly mounted.
  • Make sure that there are no persons under the suspended load.
  • The measuring device is only permitted for lifting and weighing freely moving loads. Twisting the load (torsional stress) is not permitted. Transporting persons, pulling loads at an angle, tearing them loose, dragging them etc. is prohibited.
  • Installation, commissioning, maintenance and operation of the measuring equipment may only be carried out by trained persons wearing appropriate protective equipment.
  • Never touch the moving parts during the weighing process. This can lead to injuries.
  • Do not enter the danger zone during use. This does not only include the area directly below the load but also areas that could become a hazard, e. g. due to swinging ropes or other load suspension equipment.
  • Non-observance of the safety notes can cause damage to the device and injuries to the user.

Key Description
On/off switch: switch the crane scales on / off by pressing and releasing

it once.
| Freeze display. Pressing and releasing this key once freezes the displayed reading. A frozen display is indicated by a lock icon. To resume the measurement, press this key again.
| With the tare key you can tare the displayed weight.
Note: Setting a new tare point does not increase the weighing range.

Set Unit

To select a unit, first switch off the instrument. Switch it on again. As soon as the display shows “88888”, press the HOLD key repeatedly. To select your desired unit, also press the HOLD key.
You can choose KG, LB or N. Your selection is automatically accepted after approx. one second without further pressing the HOLD key.

Freeze Measured Value

To freeze the displayed reading, press the HOLD key. Press the key again to resume the measurement. When the lock icon appears on the display, the reading is frozen.

Display Highest Measured Value

To display the highest reading, first switch off the device. Now press and hold the tare key and switch on the instrument. The highest measured value is now continuously displayed. To reset the reading, press and release the tare key once. Restart the scales so that the normal measurement can be resumed.

Tare The Display

To tare the display, press the tare key. The displayed value is set to zero.
Note: Setting a new tare point does not increase the weighing range.

Automatic Power Off

The scales have an automatic power off function. To enable or disable this function, first switch on the instrument. Then press and hold the tare key. As soon as “OFF” appears on the display, the automatic power off function is deactivated. When you press and hold the tare key again, the display shows “On” and the function is activated. The scales switch off after 15 minutes when the function is activated.

Simple Adjustment

To carry out an adjustment of the scales, let them hang freely and switch them on. Now press and hold the HOLD key until “1000” is displayed. After “CAL” is displayed, you can select which weight you want to attach for calibration. Press the tare key to select your weight. You can choose 20, 30, 50 or 100 kg. Then press the HOLD key to accept the selection. Now attach the weight to the scales.

Extended Adjustment

For an extended adjustment, first switch off the scales. The scales must then hang freely. Now hold down the HOLD key and switch on the scales. The measured digit value is displayed. Press the HOLD key again. Now the weighing range can be set by repeatedly pressing the tare key.
Accept this value by pressing the HOLD key. Then the resolution can be set by repeatedly pressing the tare key. Accept this value by pressing the HOLD key. “CAL” is then displayed.
Now the actual adjustment takes place for which no key operation is necessary. “300″ is now displayed. This means that a 300 kg weight must now be attached. The value is automatically accepted as soon as the weight has been attached. When “PASS” is displayed, the calibration is complete.
Note : Do not change the weighing range and resolution. You can cancel the adjustment at any time during the process by switching off the scales.

Batteries

As soon as the batteries of the scales are discharged, this is indicated by the “LO” indicator on the display. The batteries must then be replaced.
To insert the batteries, no load must be attached to the hanging scales. Now open the battery compartment on the back. Now insert 3 x 1.5 V AA batteries. Make sure that the polarity is correct.
You can then close the battery compartment and use the scales.

Disposal

For the disposal of batteries in the EU, the 2006/66/EC directive of the European Parliament applies. Due to the contained pollutants, batteries must not be disposed of as household waste.
They must be given to collection points designed for that purpose.
In order to comply with the EU directive 2012/19/EU we take our devices back. We either re-use them or give them to a recycling company which disposes of the devices in line with law.
For countries outside the EU, batteries and devices should be disposed of in accordance with your local waste regulations.
