Frequently Asked Questions
Do any of these print color?
These are one color monochrome printers. The thermal transfer printers like this model use a ribbon to print. You could use a black ribbon or a ribbon of another color, bu it is always 1 color. Full-color high-speed printing of durable waterproof labels is now available with the Epson CM3500 printer. That would be the base model of a full-color high speed, (4 to 6 inches a second), roll label printer.
I just buy ttp-244ce and i want to use it for thermal transfer which thermal transfer wax i need?
Any thermal paper that fits will work no need to use the spool just run through the back.
Does it comes with software for labels?
Mine did not come with software.
Does it print on address size labels?
Yes, it can print almost any size label including address labels.
What ribbon does this machine take?
There is no ribbon. This is a thermal printer so you just need thermal labels that are compatible
Does this printer need a ribbon?
This is a Thermal transfer printer it can print with or without ribbon. If you're not using a ribbon you need Direct Thermal paper to print.
This on has ethernet?
Yes, this has Ethernet, USB, PAR, and Serial RS232 connectivity.
Is there a rs232 serial port or is it usb which needs to be converted
It has both a serial and USB port. You will NOT have to convert either one.
What about ink tapes? Aproximately how long is its cycle of life?
We do not use ink tape. We use it as Direct thermal. Have several of these units and have had little issues. of the 6 we owned only one went bad after about 500,000 labels.
Can I use this to print 5/8 x 4 inch tags for the plants in my greenhouse?
Yes, you could. with the right combination of label material (paper or poly) and type of ribbon (wax, wax/resin, resin) you can print labels that are water-resistant, tear-resistant, and heat-resistant.
Can i make my own barcodes?
You need bar-code generating software... the printer on its own will not do it.
