INSTALLATION
Assembling your barbecue
- Your Cookout™ Classic/Deluxe Electric Built-In barbecue is fully assembled and ready to be installed.
- Remove the appliance from the box and dispose of all transit protection material, including plastic, cardboard, and foam packaging, appropriately.
- Read thoroughly all information provided in this instruction manual.
Installing your barbecue
-
Ensure all packing and plastic has been removed except the plastic covering protecting the mirror finish on the lid – this should be removed after installation.
-
Your barbecue is designed to be mounted into a bench top which should be cut out to suit the following specifications: Note:
• The barbecue should not be modified by anyone other than the manufacturer.
• If your barbecue has been supplied with the controls on a remote lead (not attached to the underside of the barbecue), there should be a minimum clearance of 50mm between the underside of the barbecue and any other appliances such as fridges or ice makers. The controls must also be isolated from any water source. -
A minimum set-back of 80mm is required from the front, back and sides of the cabinet into which the barbecue is being installed.
-
If mounting into a fully enclosed cabinet, the cabinet must be a minimum of 800mm tall and 950mm wide (left to right).
-
Whether the controls are fixed to the underside of the barbecue or supplied with a remote control box, the cabinet must have a door for access to the controls.
-
Apply a silicone bead around the outside edge of the barbecue between the stainless steel flange and the bench top, if desired.
-
Connect the barbecue to the power supply using the 10 amp lead supplied.
-
At the back, right-hand corner of the underside of the barbecue is a brass elbow to allow any water that accumulates on the plate to escape. A ½” hose (not supplied) may be installed to direct water away from the cabinet.
-
Your barbecue comes with a fat cup which should be attached to the underside of the appliance (as shown on the following page).
Note: Hold the fat cup vertically to maneuver it into position, then twist the cup to slide the catch over the hook. When removing the fat cup it is important to keep the cup upright to avoid spilling the contents. Caution is required as the contents may be hot. -
Installation of your Cookout™ barbecue is now complete.

MAINTENANCE
How to clean your barbecue
The outer body and lid of your Cookout™ Classic/Deluxe Electric Built-In
barbecue are manufactured from quality 316 marine grade stainless steel, and
the plate is made using duplex grade stainless steel . As its name suggests,
‘stainless’ steel stains less than steel but it must be cleaned regularly. If
the barbecue has not been cleaned for long periods, you may notice a brown
discoloration starting to form on the stainless steel surfaces – this is
called tea-staining and it can be prevented by following this cleaning guide.
External cleaning
- The exterior surfaces should be cleaned or wiped down regularly to prevent tea-staining and to prolong the high finish of the stainless steel.
- If tea-staining occurs it should be attended to in the early stages as it will be much easier to remove. If left, it will gradually get worse until it turns into rust.
- Washing the exterior of the barbecue using a wet cloth and warm soapy water will help to remove general contamination found in the air such as dust, dirt and salt. Do not pour water directly over the barbecue controls.
- When applied to the external surfaces, silicone-based polishes are ideal to help the stainless steel form a protective layer to prevent tea-staining and rusting. Apply and work the polish with a soft cloth then remove the polish with a second, clean, soft cloth.
Do not use silicone based products on the cooking surface.
Cleaning the barbecue plate
- After cooking and while the barbecue plate is still hot, pour a small amount of water onto the plate. Let the water steam and scrape off excess burnt food with a barbecue scraper. Check the level of water in the fat cup to prevent spillage. Caution is required as the contents may be hot.
- To remove burn marks, mix a small amount of white vinegar and water together and pour onto the plate. Work this into the surface with a non-scratch scouring pad to bring the plate back to its original finish.
- Do not use scouring pads or steel wool on the stainless steel body, surround or control panel as it will damage the stainless steel surface, leaving it prone to rusting.
- Oven cleaner may be carefully applied to the barbecue plate when it has cooled down. Caution do not hose off – remove with a damp cloth. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions. The longer you leave the oven cleaner on the plate, the better it will work – up to an hour is ideal.
FAILURE TO PROPERLY MAINTAIN YOUR BARBECUE WILL VOID WARRANTY
