Product Information

The Halo remote is a versatile device that allows you to control various aspects of your Control4 system. It features an ambient light sensor for automatic screen and button brightness adjustment. The remote supports voice commands for Xfinity and AppleTV, with more services to come. It operates on Wi-Fi frequency and has a battery charging function.

Product Setup

1. Charge the Remote:
   • Use the included wall adapter and cable to connect the remote’s base to power.
   • Place the remote on the base to charge.
2. Turn on the remote and scan the QR code:
   • Press and hold the power button to turn the remote on.
   • A QR code appears on the screen.
   • Scan the QR code in the Control4 mobile app by tapping the Control4 menu Icon, going to Settings, selecting your system, then tapping Add New Device.
   • Follow the remote’s on-screen instructions to complete installation.

Product Button Guide

This guide outlines buttons specific to the Halo remote:

• Ambient light sensor: Automatically adjusts the screen and button brightness.
• Quick press: Turn a room off. Press and hold to power the remote on or off.
• Customizable buttons: Their function is described at the bottom of the remote’s display.
• Select a video source: Choose a video source to watch.
• View favorited items: Displays favorited items in the selected room.
• Select a music source: Choose a music source to listen to.
• View Control4 on-screen TV interface: If enabled, displays the Control4 on-screen TV interface.
• Navigates and selects menu items: Use these buttons to navigate and select menu items.
• Push-to-talk voice control: Activate voice control by pressing this button.
• Playback controls: Control playback of media.
• View information about what is being watched: Press this button to view information about the currently watched content.
• RGBY custom color programming: Press to make the 2, 4, 6, and 8 buttons glow their designated colors for custom color programming. (Not available on the Touch model.)

Adding Favorites

1. Open the Control4 mobile app.
2. Select a room.
3. Tap the Control4 menu icon.
4. Choose the type of Favorite you wish to create.
5. Tap and hold on the item you want to favorite.
6. Tap “Favorite to Room” to add it as a favorite in the selected room.

Controlling a Room

To control a room using the Halo remote:

1. Press the Home button.
2. Use the navigation buttons to select the room list.
3. Select a favorite command or choose another experience, such as lighting or security.
4. Use the Watch button to see available video sources in the room.
5. Use the Listen button to see available audio sources. The four most recent audio sources appear at the top.

Using Voice Commands

The Halo remote currently supports voice commands for Xfinity and AppleTV. To use voice commands:

1. Select Xfinity or Apple TV on the remote.
2. Press and hold the voice control button to activate voice control.

Remote Settings

1. Press the Home button.
2. Navigate to the bottom of the list.

Setup

Charge the Remote

Use the included wall adapter and cable to connect the remote’s base to power. Then place the remote on the base to charge.

Turn on the remote and scan the QR code

Press and hold the power button to turn the remote on. A QR code appears on the screen.

Scan the QR code in the Control4 mobile app by tapping the Control4 menu Icon, going to Settings, selecting your system, then tapping Add New Device.

Follow the remote’s on-screen instructions to complete installation.

• These buttons do not appear on the Touch model.

Adding Favorites

Open the Control4 mobile app

To add a favorite to a room, open the Control4 mobile app and select a room. Then tap the Control4 menu icon and choose the type of Favorite you wish to create. Tap and hold on the item you want to favorite, then tap Favorite to Room.

Rearranging favorites

To rearrange favorites, press and hold an icon, then tap Arrange and Remove Favorites.
Press and drag the icons in the order you’d like to see them. Tap the X button to remove a favorite. Tap the check mark when you’re finished.

On your Halo remote, navigate to the room to see your new favorites.

Selecting a room

Press the Home button, then use the navigation buttons to select the room list.

Selecting a favorite or experience
Select a favorite command, or press the Home button and use the navigation buttons to select another experience, such as lighting or security.

Using the Watch and Listen buttons

Use the Watch button to see the available video sources in the room, or use the Listen button to see the available audio sources. The four most recent audio sources appear at the top.

Using Voice Commands

The Halo remote currently supports voice commands for Xfinity and AppleTV, with more services on the way!
To use voice commands, select Xfinity or Apple TV, then press and hold the voice control button.

Remote Settings

10. Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus. When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.
11. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.
12. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
13. This equipment uses AC power which can be subjected to electrical surges, typically lightning transients which are very destructive to customer terminal equipment connected to AC power sources. The warranty for this equipment does not cover damage caused by electrical surge or lightning transients. To reduce the risk of this equipment becoming damaged it is suggested that the customer consider installing a surge arrestor. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.
14. To completely disconnect unit power from the AC mains, remove the power cord from the appliance coupler and/or turn off the circuit breaker. To reconnect power, turn on the circuit breaker following all safety instructions and guidelines. The circuit breaker shall remain readily accessible.
15. This product relies on the buildings installation for short-circuit (overcurrent) protection. Ensure that the protective device is rated not greater than: 20A.
16. Notice – For indoor use only, Internal components are not sealed from the environment. The device can only be used in a fixed location such as a telecommunication center, or a dedicated computer room. When you install the device, ensure that the protective earthing connection of the socket-outlet is verified by a skilled person. Suitable for installation in information technology rooms in accordance with Article 645 of the National Electrical Code and NFP 75.
17. This product can interfere with electrical equipment such as tape recorders, TV sets, radios, computers, and microwave ovens if placed in close proximity.
18. Never push objects of any kind into this product through cabinet slots as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short out parts that could result in fire or electric shock.
19. WARNING – No user serviceable parts inside. If the product is not operating properly, do not remove any part of the unit (cover, etc.) for repair. Unplug the unit and consult the warranty section of the owner’s manual.
20. CAUTION: As with all batteries, there is a risk of explosion or personal injury if the battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used battery according to the instructions of the battery manufacturer and applicable environmental guidelines. Do not open, puncture or incinerate the battery, or expose it to conducting materials, moisture, liquid, fire or heat above 54° C or 130° F.
