PARTS

  • Storage Basket
  • Instruction Manual
  • Plastic Scraper

INSTALLATION

  1. Remove all packaging, including the foam between the condenser and cabinet on the outside of the unit. WARNING: Two or more people should move the freezer. Failure to do so can result in back or other injuries.

  2. Remove all packaging and labels. If there is any glue residue rub a small amount of liquid dish soap with your fingers then wipe with warm water and dry.
NOTE: Do not use any sharp instruments, rubbing alcohol, flammable fluids or abrasive cleaners to remove tape or glue.

  3. IMPORTANT: Let the freezer stand upright for approximately 2 hours before plugging into the power source. This will reduce the possibility of a malfunction in the cooling system from handling during transportation.

  4. This freezer is designed to be free standing. It was not designed for recessed or enclosed area installation.

  5. Place your freezer on a floor that is strong enough to support the freezer when it is fully loaded.

  6. Locate the freezer away from direct sunlight and sources of heat (stove, heater, radiator, etc). Direct sunlight may affect the acrylic coating and heat sources may decrease cooling efficiency.

  7. Ensure there is a minimum 20 cm (8″) clearance on both sides,10 cm (4″) at the back wall and 30 cm (12″) above the unit for proper air circulation.
NOTE: If you are installing your freezer next to a fixed wall, leave sufficient space on the hinge side to allow for the door to swing open.

  8. Level the freezer by adjusting the legs. Turn the leg clockwise to raise that side of the freezer or turn counterclockwise to lower that side. While adjusting the legs, have someone push against the top of the freezer to take some weight off the front leveling legs.
NOTE: To help with door closure, position legs with a 1/8″ (3 mm) tilt to the back.

  9. Do not use in any location not properly insulated or heated, e.g. garage etc. Your freezer was not designed to operate in temperatures below 12.8°C (55°F). In extreme cold ambient temperatures the freezer will not perform properly. Avoid locating the freezer in damp or moist areas. Excessive moisture may cause frost to form quickly on the evaporator. This would require more frequent defrosting of the freezer.

  10. Once the freezer has been plugged in (after 2 hours in the upright position), allow the freezer’s interior to cool for 2-3 hours before putting food into the compartments.

BEFORE FIRST USE

  1. Wipe the inside of the freezer and the door gasket with a cloth or sponge dampened in a warm water and baking soda solution, 30 ml (2 tbsp) baking soda to 1L (1 quart) of water.
  2. Wash the shelf with mild detergent.
  3. The exterior should be cleaned with a soft cloth dampened in mild detergent and warm water.
  4. Wring excess water out of the cloth before cleaning any areas that have the controls or electrical parts.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

TEMPERATURE CONTROL

  1. The Temperature Control Dial is located on the lower right-hand corner.
  2. Adjust the temperature control to the setting that best suits your needs. The greater the number, the lower the temperature.

NOTE

  • If the unit is unplugged, lost power, or turned off, you must wait 3 to 5 minutes before restarting the unit. If you attempt to restart before this delay, the freezer will not start.
  • Large amounts of food will lower the cooling efficiency of the appliance.
  • If you choose to change the thermostat setting, adjust thermostat control by one numerical increment at a time. Allow several hours for the temperature to stabilize between adjustments.

THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT

  1. This compartment is designed for the long-term storage of frozen food. Storage time is up to three months.
  2. The storage life of frozen foods varies and the recommended storage time should not be exceeded. The instructions regarding the care of frozen foods should be followed when defrosting the freezer.
  3. Pre-packed commercially frozen food should be stored in accordance with the frozen foods manufacturer’s instructions for a three-star frozen food storage compartment or home freezer.
  4. Place frozen food into the freezer as quickly as possible after purchase. If there are instructions on the packet, carefully follow these instructions regarding storage times.
  5. The freezer door is susceptible to breaking due to excessive ice build up. Be sure to defrost when the ice reaches 1 cm (0.4”) thick.
  6. A storage basket is provided for the organization of odd-shaped items. To reach other packages in the freezer, just slide the basket to one side, or lift it out.

FREEZING FRESH FOODS

  1. The quality of frozen food can be compromised by improper use of the freezer, poorly packed food, incorrect temperatures and unhygienic preparation of foods.
  2. This freezer has been designed for long-term storage of frozen food.
  3. The storage life of frozen foods varies and the recommended storage time should not be exceeded.
  4. Pre-packed commercially frozen food should be stored in accordance with the frozen foods manufacturer’s instructions for a three star frozen food.
  5. Place frozen food into the freezer as quickly as possible after purchase. If there are instructions on the packet, carefully follow these instructions regarding storage times.
  6. Carefully select food you intend to freeze; it should be of adequate quality and suitable for freezing.
  7. Use correct packaging and wrap it tight.
  8. The packaging should be airtight and shouldn’t leak since this could cause substantial vitamin loss and dehydration of foods.
  9. Foils and bags should be soft enough to tightly wrap around the foods.
  10. When preparing foods to be frozen, consider sanitary precautions.
  11. Mark packages with following data: kind and amount of foods and the date of loading.
  12. It is most important that the food is frozen as quickly as possible.
  13. If the loading amount is too large, the quality of freezing is reduced which affects the quality of frozen foods.

CARE AND CLEANING

CLEANING THE FREEZER

  1. Turn the temperature control to “OFF”, unplug the freezer, remove the food and storage basket.
  2. Wash the inside with a damp cloth containing a water and baking soda solution. The solution should be 2 tablespoons of baking soda to 1L (1 quart) of water.
  3. Wash the storage basket with a mild detergent solution.
  4. Be sure to keep the door gasket (seal) clean to keep the unit running efficiently.
  5. The outside of the freezer should be cleaned with detergent and warm water.
  6. Dry the interior and exterior with a soft cloth.
  7. The condenser coils should be vacuumed when they are dusty or dirty.
  8. It is recommended that the unit be cleaned each time it is defrosted to help keep the unit odor free and running efficiently.

DEFROSTING YOUR FREEZER

  1. For the most efficient operation and minimum energy consumption, defrost the freezer when the frost on the freezer walls is excessive of 1 cm (0.4”) thick.
  2. Choose a time when the stock of frozen food is low.

CAUTION
Do not use boiling water because it may damage the plastic parts. Never use a sharp or metallic instrument to remove frost as it may damage the cooling coils and will void the warranty. We recommend using the plastic scraper provided with your unit.

  1. Remove the frozen food from the freezer and place it in a cooler to protect the food.
  2. Unplug the freezer. The power supply light should be off (green light out).
  3. Place a shallow pan outside drain outlet.
  4. Remove the drain plug on the inside floor of the freezer by pulling straight out.
  5. The defrost water will drain out. Check the pan occasionally, so the water does not overflow.
  6. Clean the interior of the freezer.
  7. Replace the plug on the inside floor.
  8. Plug in freezer and reset the thermostat setting.
  9. Allow the cabinet to cool for one hour.
  10. Return food to the freezer.

HELPFUL HINT
Defrosting usually takes a few hours. Leaving the door open will help speed the process. Also pouring warm water (not boiling) on the ice/frost will help speed melting. If you must use a scraper, please use caution, it is very easy to damage the freezer compartment and void your warranty.

POWER FAILURE
Most power failures are corrected within a few hours and should not affect the temperature of your appliance if you minimize the number of times the door is opened.
NOTE: If the unit is unplugged, has lost power, or is turned off; you must wait 3 to 5 minutes before restarting the unit. If you attempt to restart before this time delay, damage may occur and or the appliance may not start.

VACATIONS

  • Short vacations: Leave the appliance operating during vacations of less than 3 – 4 weeks.
  • Long vacations: If the appliance will not be used for over one month, remove all items and unplug the power cord. Clean and dry the interior thoroughly. To prevent odor and mold growth, leave the door open slightly, blocking it open if necessary.

MOVING YOUR FREEZER

  1. Remove all contents and store properly.
  2. Securely tape down all loose items inside your appliance.
  3. Turn the leveling screws up to the base to avoid damage.
  4. Tape the door shut.
  5. Be sure the freezer stays in the upright position during transportation. Protect the outside with a blanket or similar item.

HELPFUL HINTS

  1. Place the freezer in the coolest area of the room, away from heat producing appliances and out of direct sunlight.
  2. Let hot foods cool before putting into freezer. Foods that freeze too slowly may lose quality, or spoil.
  3. Overloading the freezer causes the compressor to run longer, and uses more electricity.
  4. Freezer storage baskets should not be lined with aluminum foil, wax paper, or paper toweling. Liners interfere with cold air circulation, making the freezer less efficient.
  5. Reduce door openings and extended searches, remove as many items as required at one time, and close the door as soon as possible.
  6. If there is a short power interruption keep door closed to help foods stay frozen. If the power will be out for a longer period of time, check food before using. If food has thawed do not refreeze.
