BEFORE FIRST USE
Read these instructions thoroughly and save for future reference. Carefully unpack the appliance from its packaging and check that all parts are present. Remove any promotional labels or stickers and safely dispose of plastic bags or small pieces that could present a suffocation or choking hazard.
-
Wipe outside of the kettle with a clean, damp cloth to remove any dirt or dust. Do not immerse the kettle body, power base, control panel, power cord, or electrical plug in any liquid. Do not use abrasive
cleansers or scouring pads. -
Before first use, fill the kettle to between the MIN and MAX lines and boil according to the operating instructions on the following pages. Carefully discard the water and repeat the process once more
USING YOUR GLASS KETTLE
NOTE – Always unplug the kettle before emptying, filling, or adding water and never fill a cordless kettle on its base.
-
To fill the kettle, remove it from its power base and push the lid release towards the handle to open. Fill with your desired amount of water, making sure that the water level sits above the MIN fill line (0.5L) and below the MAX fill line (1.7L). You can also fill the kettle through its spout.
NOTE – Do not fill the kettle past the MAX fill line. Over-filling may result in boiling water being expelled from the spout, causing injury or property damage. -
Close the lid, pressing down firmly to ensure that it has latched. Replace the kettle on its power base, rotating it so the spout is facing away from you.
-
Check that the power switch on the handle is in the O (off) position and plug the kettle into a power outlet. Turn the switch to the I (on) position to start heating. The blue LEDs in the base will light up to indicate that the kettle is heating.
NOTE – Do not touch the glass body, spout, and lid while the kettle is operating and before the water cools down. Keep all parts of your body away from the spout when the kettle is operating as the escaping steam could cause injury. -
When the water reaches 100°C (212°F) the kettle will automatically shut off. Wait for the water to stop bubbling before carefully lifting the kettle by the handle and pouring the water.
NOTE – Be very careful when pouring water from the kettle as both the hot water and steam can scald you. To avoid injury, do not pour with the lid open.
BOIL-DRY PROTECTION
If the kettle boils dry or is started with insufficient water (below the MIN
fill line), it will automatically switch off to prevent overheating. If this
occurs, unplug the kettle from the power source and allow it to cool for 5-10
minutes, then refill and try again
CARE AND CLEANING
CLEANING YOUR KETTLE
Always unplug the kettle from the power source before cleaning. Wipe outside
of the cooled kettle and lid with a clean, damp cloth to remove any dirt or
dust. Do not immerse the kettle body, power base, control panel, power cord,
or electrical plug in any liquid. Do not use abrasive cleansers or scouring
pads.
CLEANING YOUR FILTER
The removable spout filter is made of a fine mesh that prevents mineral
(scale) particles from being poured out with the water. It should be cleaned
every 10-25 uses to remove built-up scale particles. To remove the filter,
unplug the cooled kettle from its power source and open the lid. With the
spout facing you, hold the lid with one hand and the filter with the other.
Pull the filter gently but firmly sideways and downwards until it pops out.
Rinse the filter under running water or brush it gently with a cleaning brush
to remove any mineral residue. If the residue will not come off, soak the
filter for up to 1 hour in a small amount of white vinegar or diluted citric
acid solution and then rinse thoroughly. Replace the filter in the lid by
inserting the prong on one side and pushing up gently and firmly to pop the
other into place.
DESCALING YOUR KETTLE
With regular use, mineral deposits from your water will naturally build up
inside your kettle, especially on the surface of the stainless steel heater.
Regular descaling (1-2 times per month, depending on the hardness of your
water) using one of the following methods will remove this residue and keep
your kettle looking and working its best.
DESCALE WITH WHITE VINEGAR
- Unplug your kettle and fill with 0.5L (2 cups) of white vinegar.
- Let sit for 1 hour (do not heat).
- Empty and rinse thoroughly with clean water 5-6 times.
DESCALE WITH CITRIC ACID
- Boil 0.5L (2 cups) of water in the kettle.
- Add 25 g (5 tsp) citric acid powder and let sit for 15 minutes.
- Empty and rinse thoroughly with clean water 5-6 times.
DESCALE WITH A COMMERCIAL DESCALING PRODUCT
Choose a descaler designed specifically for kettles and follow the product
instructions.
