Frequently Asked Questions
Does the ink come with the expression photo hd xp-15000?
Yes, it comes with 6 ink cartridges in the box.
Is this a sublimation printer or could this printer be used for sublimation heat transfer?
yes, this can be converted to a sublimation printer by uploading chipless firmware the cost is approx. $55 to purchase the firmware online. You will also have to buy chipless cartridges sold on Etsy
Can i use it for heat transfer t shirt's?
It will print iron-ons for tees, etc. It will NOT print ON a tee.
Where do I purchase new ink cartages?
Epson could give away its printers, because their profit comes from ink sales. If you buy from Epson, you will spend more money on a full replacement of six cartridges than you paid for the printer. Not surprisingly, therefore, there are several aftermarket suppliers of inks. It is an arms race: Every time Epson upgrades the software, they change the ink code so that third-party cartridges will not be accepted. So, if you want to use Epson-compatible cartridges instead of the vastly overpriced Epson cartridges, never accept an upgrade. In your printer settings, make certain that the AUTOMATIC upgrade is not checked. Then, I can recommend Swift Ink as a supplier of cartridges that the printer will continue to accept.
Does this printer use refillable ink cartridges like the Epson Artisan 1430?
Will it work with shrinky dink’s ink jet paper?
It will work with any type of paper.
Will this printer connect to computer thru usb port?
Yes, it can. It’s a great printer.
Does anyone know how to switch the red and grey for the lt cyan and lt magenta?
You are going to have to remove ink from the cart with a syringe wash it out then refill but this will void warranty.
Does it print on cd/dvd/br disks?
Yes, it includes a CD tray that stores nearly underneath the paper tray when not in use.
Can this be converted to print dtf for tshirts?
There are companies that make paper for inkjet printers. We have used it here at the studio with no problems. We have used it for portrait transfer for tee shirts and artwork on sweatshirts.
Can I print with color on black card stock paper?
No, I tried, but it didn’t work, the ink didn’t show.
Can i print material for bussines card ?
You can print card stock, or cover stock, which are two grades of paper often used for business cards. You can probably print the pre-perforated business card stock from companies like Avery and others.
Does this print and 11x14 ?
It does, but not from the front load paper tray. It will only print 11x14 from the rear paper feed. To make the printer print on this size paper, you have to load the paper and then use the screen on the printer to select 11x14 paper size (even if you select 11x14 from a program like Photoshop, for example). You MUST have the correct size selected on the printer as well. If you are printing lots of 11x14s in a row, you do not have to select this size every time. However, let's say you print a letter size, then a 5x7, then 11x14 - you have to manually select the paper size on the little screen each time you load a new sheet into the rear paper feed. This isn't a big deal, but just something I thought I'd share because it took me a little time to figure out when I got this model. It's more tedious than anything but gets easier with time.
