This set includes2 walkie-talkie units: these are communication devices which operate on mohileradio frequencies. They come with 8/20/22(option)channels as well as a back-lit LCD screen, enabling you to communicate over several kilometres free-of-charge (up to3 km in open areas)
NOTE: Please read these user instructions carefully before using the equipment and retain forfuture consultation!
SPECIFIC RECOMMENDATIONS
- If you carry any kindof personal medical device, consult a doctor before use.
- To avoid the risk of burns, do not use the device ifthe aerial is damaged in any way.
- Do notuse the device in a potentially explosive setting (e.g. around petrol pumps, on the lower deck ofa boat or around a fuelstorage installation orchemical products) If travellingin a caror by bike, stop before using the device. Switch off the device if onan aeroplane orin a hospital.
- Never use the device inclose proximity to a radio toavoid interference. Remove the batteries if the device is notin use foran extended period oftime. Never mix used and new batteries.
- Position the transmitter and antennaat least 5 cm from your face. Direct the antenna upwards and speak normally.
- Clean the ue vice with a damp cloth. Avoid these of cleaning agents and solvents.
- Do notmodify the device in any way. In the event of damage occurring, ensure that the device is checked by aqualified professional.
- The device cannot be used to contact the emergency services.

BEFORE USE
To insertbatteries into the devices, first remove the belt attachment: lift
the attachmentclip (23) and press the beltattachment upwards (24).
Open the battery compartment (26) and insert4 AAAbatteries (25) (not
supplied), ensuringthat the poles are correctly aligned. Then close the lid.
USING THE TWINTALKER

Turning the deviceon/off:
To turnthe devices on or off, hold down the on/off button (6) for 3 seconds a BEEPsound will be played to confirm. -
Adjustingthe volume:
To increasethe volume, press the Up adjustor button A (4) and pressthe Down V (7) button to decrease volume. Note: The volume level (3) is displayed on the screen. -
Battery Level/Low Battery Indication
The battery level is indicated by the numberof squares presented inside the battery icon on the LCD Screen.
When the battery level is low, the battery icon will flash and a beep will be heard to indicate that the battery needs to bereplaced or recharged.
Receiving/transmitting communications:
The devices are in ‘Reception’ mode when lit up, i.e. they are ready to
receive a callor sound transmitted on the activated frequency.
When you press the Calltone button (12), the deviceswitches to ‘Transmission’
mode. You are then transmitting a soundsignal to the other device.
To senda voice message, press the TALK button (15) and speak into the
microphone (10). Continue topress the button until you have finished
transmitting your message. Hold the microphone minimum of5 cm from your face.
Note:
- The otherdevice must be set to the same channel and have set the same CTCSS code(see point 7)
- When thetransmission is complete and the TALK button (15) is no longer held down, the other device will emit a sound (BEEP) to indicate that this device is ready to transmit.
Changing Channels
- Press the MENU button (11)once, the currentchannel number flashes on the display.
- Press the – A button (4) or the – V button (7) to changethe channel.
- Press the TALK – button to (15) confirm and return to stand-by Mode.
Note: If no button is pressed within 15 seconds duringsetting, the unit will return to standby.
CTCSS (Continious Tone Coded Squelch System)
License free radio’soperating on the 400~470 MHz frequency band, like the
Twintalker, have 8/20/22 available radiochannels. If there are many radio’s
users in yourneighborhood, there is a chance that some of these users are
operating on the sameradio channel. To preventthat you receive signals from
otherusers, sub-channels have been integrated. Two radio’swill only beable to
communicate with each other when they are operating on the same radio channel
and when they have selected exactly the same sub-channel. There are two kind
ofsub- channels:
Continuous Tone Coded Squelch System (CTCSS) When using CTCSS, a low frequency tone (between 67 and 250 Hz) will be transmitted along with the voice signal. There are 99 available tones to choose from. You are free to choose one of these 99 available tones. Due to filtering, these tones will generally notbe audible so they will notdisturb the communication.
CTCSS
- Press the MENU-button(11) twice : The current CTCSScode flashes on the displav.
- Press the A-button(4) or the V -button(7) to change to another code.
- Press the TALK-button(15) to confirm and return tostand-by mode.
Note: To disableCTCSS, select code “OF* for CTCSS in the menu. When the entry is confirmed, “OF” will be displayed.
Monitor
You can use the monitor feature tocheck for weakersignals in the current
channel.
- Press the MON-button to activate channel monitoring.
- Press the MON-button to stopchannel monitoring.
Note: During channel monitoring the receiver circuit in the Radio’s will not listen to CTCSS codes.
VOX Selection
The Radio’sis capable ofvoice activated (VOX)transmission. In VOX mode, the
radio will transmita signal when it is activated by your voice orother sound
around you. VOX operation is not recommended if you plan to use your radio in
a noisy orwindy environment.
Note: VOX mode willbe overrided when you press the TALK – button “15”
- Press the MENU- button(11) three times, the current VOX setting flashes on the display and the VOX icon isdisplayed.
- Press -button(4) to setthe VOX sensitivity level between I and 3 (level 3 is the most sensitive level).
- Press V-button(7) until “OF” appears on the display,to turn VOX OFF.
- Press the TALK-button(15) to confirm and return tostand-by mode.
Scanning foran active radio channel
- Press the SCAN -button(21): The’Scan’ function indicator (17) will appear on the screen andthe channel (18) will scancontinuously from 1 to 22.
- Press the V-button(7) to startthe channel scan from 8/20/22 to 1. Once an active channel is found, the scanning willstop and you can listen to the transmission.
When the transmission on the found channel stops, the scanning will resume automatically.
NOTE: If you press the TALK button(15) while listening to a found channel, the Radios will goback in stand-bymode on the found channel.
Call Tones
A call tone alerts others that you want to start talking.
Setting the Call Tone The Twintalker has 10 call tones.
- Press the MENU- button(11) four times, “CA” is displayed and the current call tone is flashing.
- Press the A-button(4) or the V-button(7) to changeto another Call Tone.
- Press the TALK – button(15) to confirm and returnto stand-by Mode.
Sendinga call Tone
Press the CALL-button(12) briefly. The call tone will be transmitted on the
setchannel.
Key-Tone On/Off
When a button is pressed, the unit will beep briefly. To setthe key-tone.
- Press the MENU- button(11) five times. *tO ” will be displayed.
- Press A to enable (ON) or Y disable the Key Tones (OF).
- Press the TALK – button(15) toconfirm your selection and return to the standby mode.
Roger Beep On/Off
After the TALK-button is released, the unit willsend out a roger beep to
confirm that vou have stoppedtalking. To setthe Roger Beep.
- Press the MENU- button(11) six times. “rO ” will be displayed.
- Press A to enable (ON) or W disable the Roger Beep (OF).
- Press the TALK – button(15) to confirm vour selection and return to the standby mode.
Button Lock
- Press andhold the MENU- button(11) for two secondsto activate the Button lock mode. The button lock icon is displayed on the LCD Screen.
- Press andhold the MENU- button(11) again for twoseconds deactivate button lock
Note: The PTT-button(15) . the CALL -button(12). MON-button(5) and the on/off button (6) will still be functional when the Button Lock is activated.
Display backlight
To activatethe backlight ofthe LCD display, press any button except the MENU-
button(11) or the MON-button(5) The LCD backlight will light up for 5 seconds.
Battery saving function
When the device has not beenused for 6 seconds, the economy mode is
automatically activated. This does not affect the reception of transmissions
andthe standard mode is automatically re- activated as soonas a signalis
detected. 1
