installation requirements

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Drill and bit (6mm for wall mount or 3mm for ceiling mount) •Optional: drywall or jigsaw (to cut 18mm hole for wire Ethernet)
  • UTP Cat5/6 cable for indoor installations

Outdoor Installation Requirements

  • The cable outlet opening must be located on the opposite side of the open environment.
  • The cable should face downward when mounting on the wall.
  • Category 5 (or higher) shielded cabling with drain wire must be used for all outdoor wired Ethernet connections and must be connected to the AC ground of the PoE.

Powering on the UniFi Access Point The
U6-MESH has auto detection compatible with the following sources:
UniFi Power with Ubiquiti PoE • Switch compatible with PoE+ 802.3at/PoE 802.3af • Ubiquiti Gigabit PoE Adapter (48 Vdc, 0.5 A )

The U6-PRO single pack includes a Gigabit PoE adapter. For multi-pack units, PoE adapters
or a UniFi switch with PoE can be purchased separately.

Connecting to a UniFi switch with PoE

Connect the Ethernet cable from the UniFi Access Point directly to a PoE port on the switch.

Connection to a PoE adapter

  1. Connect the Ethernet cable from the device to the POE port of the PoE adapter.
  2. Connect an Ethernet cable from your LAN to the LAN port of the PoE adapter.
  3. Connect the power cord to the adapter, and then plug the power cord into a power outlet.

Mounting the PoE adapter (optional)

  1. Remove the PoE mounting bracket from the adapter, place the bracket in the desired position and mark the two holes.
  2. Drill holes, if necessary, and secure the bracket using two rivets (not included).
  3. Align the slots on the adapter with the tabs on the PoE mounting bracket, then slide the adapter down.

Software Installation

Download and install the latest version of the UniFi Controller software. Run it and follow the instructions on the screen. The software and step-by-step User Guide instructions are available at: ui.com/download/unifi Once you have installed the software and run the UniFi Setup Wizard, a login screen for the UniFi Controller management interface will appear. Enter the administrator name and password you created and click the option to login.

Software Installation

You can manage your wireless network and view network statistics through the UniFi Controller’s management interface. For information on setting up and using the UniFi Controller software, see the User’s Guide.

Installing the mobile app Ubiquiti also offers a UniFi app, available from the App Store® (iOS) or the Google Play™ Store (Android). You can use it to make use of basic UniFi access point features without the need to set up a UniFi controller. It also allows constant connection of access points for remote controllers (controllers not on the same Layer 2 network) and easy access to local controllers and those being monitored on unifi.ui.com
