Overview
This publication shows how to install the 4009-9809 IDNet Repeater Option Card
(Part No. 565-773) into a 4009 IDNet NAC Extender (4009 IDNet) or 4009
TrueAlert Addressable Controller (4009 TrueAlert). The repeater card
regenerates and provides a power and distance boost for the IDNet channel, and
retransmits it on its output side at host panel IDNet levels.
Refer to the 4009 IDNet NAC Extender Installation Instructions (574-181) or
TrueAlert Addressable Controller Installation Instructions (574-762) for
configuration information. Refer to the 4009 IDNet Field Wiring Diagrams
(Part No. 842-068) or 4009 TrueAlert Addressable Controller Field Wiring
Diagrams (Part No. 842-158) for additional wiring information.

Use the information in Figure 2 to terminate all Class A (Style 6) wiring. For
Class B (Style 4) wiring, connect a jumper wire(s) from TB1-1 to TB1-3 and
from TB1-2 to TB1-4. Refer to the 4009 IDNet Field Wiring Diagrams (Part No.
842-068) or 4009 TrueAlert Addressable Controller Field Wiring Diagrams
(Part No. 842-158) for complete wiring, compatible appliances, current, and
line distance information.

Notes:
- Refer to the 4009 IDNet Field Wiring Diagrams (Part No. 842-068) or TrueAlert Addressable Controller Field Wiring Diagrams (Part No. 842-158) for Class B and Class A connections.
- The maximum number of devices on a repeated portion of the IDNet channel is 100. Total devices on host IDNet channel and repeated IDNet channel(s) combined not to exceed 250.
Module Installation
Mounting the Repeater Card
Install the 4009-9809 Repeater Option Card onto the 4009 IDNet or 4009 TrueAlert option card plate assembly (636-871) using the following steps and Figure 3.
- Disconnect battery and then AC power from the 4009 IDNet or 4009 TrueAlert.
- Secure the option card plate assembly (636-871) to the 4009 IDNet or 4009 TrueAlert using four slotted torx screws (supplied).
- Insert the 14-pin header (Part No. 166-490) into 4009 IDNet System Board connector P6 or 4009 TrueAlert Main Board connector P4.
- Line up the back 14-pin connector P1 of the IDNet Repeater Option Card with the 14- pin header installed on the 4009 IDNet System or 4009 TrueAlert Main Board and insert pins into connector.
- Secure the IDNet Repeater Option Card to the plate assembly using four slotted torx screws (supplied).
- For the 4009 IDNet, set the hardware configuration switches SW1/position 5 located on the 4009 IDNet System Board to “ON” to configure the IDNet Repeater Option Card to the 4009 IDNet and SW1/position 8 to “OFF” for IDNet control. Refer to the 4009 IDNet NAC Extender Installation Instructions (574-181) for detailed information on setting the hardware configuration switch SW1.
For the 4009 TrueAlert, set the hardware configuration switches SW4/position 3 and 4 on the 4009 TrueAlert Main Board to “ON” and “OFF” respectively for IDNet control and SW4/position 5 to “ON” to configure the IDNet Repeater Option Card to the 4009 TrueAlert. Refer to the 4009 TrueAlert Addressable Controller Installation Instructions (574-762) for detailed information on setting the hardware configuration switch SW4.
