1 Safety-related information
- Before using this product, carefully read the instructions for use.
- Strictly follow the instructions for use. The user must fully understand and strictly observe the instructions. Use the product only for the purposes specified in the intended use section of this document.
- Do not dispose of the instructions for use. Ensure that they are stored and used appropriately by the product user.
- Only trained and competent users are permitted to use this product.
- Comply with all local and national rules and regulations associated with this product.
- Only trained and competent personnel are permitted to inspect, repair and service the product. Dräger recommends that all maintenance work be carried out by Dräger.
- Use only genuine Dräger spare parts and accessories. Otherwise, the proper functioning of the product may be impaired.
- Do not use a faulty or incomplete product. Do not modify the product.
- Notify Dräger in the event of any component fault or failure.
1.1 Meaning of the warning notices
The following warning signs are used in this document to alert the user to potential hazards. The meanings of the warning notices are defined as follows:
DANGER
Indicates an imminently hazardous situation. If not avoided, it will result in
death or serious injury.
WARNING
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation. If not avoided, it could result
in death or serious injury.
NOTICE
Indicates additional information on how to use the product.
2 Description/Intended use
The Dräger PARAT 3100 and Dräger PARAT 3200 are filtering escape devices for
self-rescue while escaping from industrial plants in which toxic organic or
inorganic gases and vapours, sulphur dioxide, hydrogen chloride and other acid
gases, ammonia and organic ammonium compounds are suddenly released.
The devices are designed for a maximum duration of escape of 15 minutes. They
are non-reusable.
This period may be reduced in the case of high concentrations (1 Vol%) or if
chemicals which boil at low temperatures (Group 1 and 2) are present.
Inexperienced users may have difficulty breathing.
DANGER
The filtering escape devices provide no protection against carbon monoxide or
shortage of oxygen!
Failure to heed this warning may result in death or serious physical injury.
The filtering escape devices are packed in a plastic case suitable for wearing on the belt or carrying in a jacket pocket.
WARNING
If the filtering escape device is used outside the storage temperature range,
the filter performance may decrease.
The Dräger PARAT 3100/3200 is approved in accordance with:

5 Use (A)
NOTICE
Regularly carry out a visual inspection of the unopened filtering escape
device to ensure that:
– the date of expiry is not exceeded
– the filter is in perfect condition
– the packaging is undamaged
– the sealing tag is undamaged
Only use the filtering escape device if it is undamaged.
1 Grasp tab and pull off seal.
2 Remove the adhesive tape.
3 Open the package, take out the apparatus and put it on as described below.
6 Dräger PARAT 3100 (B1)
NOTICE
Facial hair (beard, etc.) and deep scars will cause inward leakage of air.
This device is therefore unsuitable for persons with facial hair.
- Hold the half mask by its straps and pull it over your nose and mouth with your chin in the chin well.
- Fasten the straps at the back of your head.
- Leave the contaminated area immediately.
NOTICE
In case of leakages (indicators are e. g. air around the bridge of the nose or
odour), firmly press the mask against your nose.
7 Dräger PARAT 3200 (B2)
NOTICE
Mouthpieces may be unsuitable for persons who wear full dentures.
- Place the mouthpiece in your mouth, holding it in place with your teeth, and close your lips around it.
- Pull the noseclip apart and push it over the nostrils so that they are completely shut.
- Leave the contaminated area immediately.
DANGER
Do not speak while wearing the Dräger PARAT 3200!
If you speak, you will breathe in contaminated air.
Failure to heed this warning may result in death or serious physical injury.
8 Maintenance
WARNING
Do not use any solvents (e.g. acetone, alcohol) or cleaning agents containing
abrasive particles for cleaning and disinfecting. Only use the procedures
described and the appropriate cleaning and disinfecting agents. Other agents,
dosing and exposure times can cause damage to the product.
Undiluted agents that come into direct contact with eyes or skin are hazardous
to health. Therefore always wear protective goggles and protective gloves when
working with such agents.

specifications can be found in document 9100081 at:
www.draeger.com/IFU.
Maintenance may only be carried out by duly trained specialist personnel. The
filtering escape device must undergo maintenance as described below every four
years or if opened in error:
- Remove the used filter.
- Prepare a cleaning solution consisting of water and a cleaning agent.
- Clean the half mask or mouthpiece with a soft cloth and the cleaning solution.
- Rinse thoroughly under running water afterwards.
- Prepare a disinfectant bath consisting of water and a disinfecting agent.
- Place the half mask or mouthpiece in the disinfectant bath.
- Rinse thoroughly under running water afterwards.
- Dry the half mask or the mouthpiece in the air or in a drying cabinet (temperature: max. 55 °C). Do not expose to direct sunlight.
- Take the replacement filter from its factory package and attach it to the mask or mouthpiece so that the storage expiry date is visible through the package.
- Packing the device:
Close the parts of the plastic case and secure them with adhesive tape and a new seal.
Check that the seal is correctly applied and is undamaged.
After replacement of the filter, the useful life of the filtering escape device is extended to the date shown on the new filter. The total operational lifetime of the filtering escape device is 12 years. The total operational lifetime goes by the oldest part of the device. Note the expiry date of the filter and the dates of manufacture on all plastic and rubber parts.
9 Storage
Store the filtering escape device in its packaging in a cool, dry place. The
storage temperature should be between -10 °C and +55 °C, at a relative
humidity of 20 % to 70 %.
Avoid direct sunlight.
The shelf life can be reduced if the filtering escape device is stored in
other conditions.
10 Disposal
Dispose of the filtering escape device as hazardous waste corresponding to the respective valid local waste disposal regulations.
