CODELOCKS CL2210 Electronic Mortise Deadbolt

The CL2210 Mortice Deadbolt is a secure lock system that can be installed on doors with a backset of 60mm or 70mm. The package includes a front plate, back plate, neoprene seals, spring-loaded spindle, deadbolt, keeper plate, wood screws, deadbolt support post, fixing bolts, keys, cable connections for REM1 and REM2, and 1.5v AA batteries (x2).

Tools required for installation

• Power drill
• 20mm (25/32) drill bit
• 25mm (1) drill bit
• 15mm (1/2) drill bit
• 8mm (5/16) drill bit
• Bradawl
• Phillips screwdriver size 2
• Chisel – maximum 25mm (1)
• Hammer/Mallet
• Stanley knife
• Adhesive tape
• Pencil
• Tape measure

Installation Instructions

1. Check the hand of your door. A door is right-handed if the hinges are on the right and left-handed if the hinges are on the left.
2. Apply the template to the door. Crease the template along the line marked Door Edge, using either the 60mm (2 3/8) or 70mm (2 3/4) backset line and tape it to the door. Mark the 2 x 8mm (5/16), 4 x 15mm (5/8) holes, and the 20mm (2 5/32) hole. Mark the center line of the deadbolt in the middle of the door edge. Apply the template to the other side of the door, aligning it with your first mark in the middle of the door edge. Mark the 7 holes again.
3. Keeping the drill level and square to the door, drill holes from both sides to avoid splintering out of the door face.
4. Position the deadbolt support post.
5. Insert the spindle, with the spring on the code side, through the slot in the deadbolt.
6. Cut the fixing bolts to suit the door thickness, allowing at least one, but no more than two, threaded sections.
7. Position the keeper plate on the frame so that it lines up with the deadbolt. Mark the inner and outer edges of the keeper plate and cut a rebate so that it fits flush with the surface of the door frame. Drill or cut a recess 25mm (1) deep for the deadbolt. Fit the keeper plate using only one wood screw at first to ensure that it is positioned accurately. The deadbolt should enter the aperture easily. When satisfied secure the keeper with the second screw.

Note: For doors more than 65mm (2 1/2) thick, ring the Helpline for advice.

With these instructions, you can install your CL2210 Mortice Deadbolt and ensure your door is secure.

Special Notes

• You are advised to familiarise yourself with the instructions before starting work.
• Remove the battery cover from the back plate and install the 2 x AA cells supplied.
• Connect the cables from the front plate and back plate. A BLEEP should be heard when you do this. If noBLEEP is heard then check that the batteries are correctly installed.
• Enter the factory Master Code, 1234 (not: when programming the badge bar must prefix theMaster Code).
• The blue LED will flash and the front knob can be turned using finger and thumb.
• Disconnect the cables.
• Check that the deadbolt moves freely by turning the flat spindle in the cam.

Check the hand of your door

Viewed from outside, a door is right handed if the hinges are on the right, and left handed if the hinges are on theleft.

Apply the template

• Crease the template along the line marked Door Edge, using either the 60mm (2 3⁄8″) or 70mm (2 3⁄4″)backset line and tape it to the door.
• Mark the 2 x 8mm (5⁄16″), 4 x 15mm (5⁄8″) holes and the 20mm (2 5⁄32″) hole. Mark the centre line of thedeadbolt in the middle of door edge. Now apply the template to the other side of the door, aligning it withyour first mark in the middle of the door edge. Mark the 7 holes again.
• Keeping the drill level and square to the door, drill holes from both sides to avoid splintering out of doorface.

Positioning and fixing the deadbolt

• Mark a central point on the ‘centre line of deadbolt’ on the door edge.
• Mark the depth of 90mm (3 1⁄2″) on the drill bit with tape to act as a visible depth limit. Drill a 25mm (1″)hole, 90mm (3 1⁄2″) deep, keeping the drill level and square to the door.
• Insert the deadbolt into the hole, and with the edges parallel to the door, draw around the face plate.
• Remove the deadbolt. Score the pencil line with a Stanley Knife to avoid splitting prior to chiselling. Chisela 3mm (1⁄8″) rebate to fit the deadbolt face flush to the door edge.
• Fix the deadbolt with the wood screws, with the arrow pointing up.

Positioning the spindle

• For doors more than 65mm (2 1⁄2″) thick, ring the Helpline for advice. The spring keeps the spindle firmlyengaged in the outside handle when the lock is assembled on the door.
• Insert the spindle, with the spring on the code side, through the slot in the deadbolt.

Fixing the lock

• Cut the fixing bolts to suit the door thickness, allowing at least one, but no more than two, threaded sections to enter the lock case
• Remove the battery cover from the back plate, and remove the battery pack. Apply the front plate over thespindle, if using the 60mm backset pass the deadbolt support post through the deadbolt and the cablethrough the door.
• Place the back plate over the spindle, pull the cable through, and screw the fixing boltsthrough to the front plate.
• Using the inside knob check that the spindle moves freely, and that the deadbolt retracts and projectssmoothly.
• If it is tight, loosen the fixing bolts slightly and adjust the position of the backplate until thespindle will turn freely.
• Tighten the fixing bolts. Test the spindle again. DO NOT over-tighten the bolts asthis may cause the door to distort and affect the lock function.

DO NOT CLOSE THE DOOR UNTIL YOU ARE SURE THAT THE CODE WORKS

• Connect the cables, storing any excess cable within the door. Then install the battery pack.

Fixing the keeper plate

• Position the keeper plate on the frame so that it lines up with the deadbolt.
• Mark the inner and outer edges of the keeper plate and cut a rebate so that it fits flush with the surface ofthe door frame.
• Drill or cut a recess 25mm (1″) deep for the deadbolt.
• Fit the keeper plate using only one wood screw at first to ensure that it is positioned accurately. Thedeadbolt should enter the aperture easily. When satisfied secure the keeper with the second screw.
