About these instructions

Read through all of the instructions carefully, as they contain important information about the product. Pay attention to and follow the instructions provided, particularly the safety instructions and warnings. Further information about handling radio components can be found on the Internet. Please keep these instructions in a safe place and make sure that they are available to all users at all times.

Safety guidelines

Intended use
The ESE BiSecur / ESE-MCX BiSecur receiver is a bidirectional receiver for the actuation of operators and controls. It has five channels and is operated via the BiSecur radio. In some cases, depending on operator type, not all channels are active/functional.
Other applications are not permitted. The manufacturer is not liable for damages caused by improper use or incorrect operation.

Safety instructions for operating the receiver

CAUTION
Danger of injuries due to unintended door travel

  • See warning in section 7

ATTENTION

Functional disturbances caused by environmental conditions
Non-compliance with these instructions can impair function!Protect the receiver from the following conditions:

  • Direct sunlight (permissible ambient temperature: –20 °C to +60 °C)
  • Moisture
  • Dust

NOTES:

  • If there is no separate garage entrance, perform all programming changes and extensions of radio systems while standing in the garage.
  • After programming or extending the radio system, check the functions.
  • Only use original components when putting the radio system into service or extending it.
  • Local conditions may affect the range of the radio system.
  • When used at the same time, GSM 900 mobile phones can affect the range.

Connection

Connect the ESE BiSecur / ESE-MCX BiSecur receiver to the BUS bush on the operator circuit board using the system cable.

NOTE:
The system cable can be extended to a total length of max. 30 m. The starting procedure begins when the receiver is supplied with 24 V DC voltage via the system cable. The blue LED remains lit and then may flash slowly, depending on the number of already taught-in radio codes, until the communication link is established. No functions are permitted at this time. The receiver is ready for operation as soon as the blue LED goes out.

NOTE:
After a power failure the receiver works the same way when the power returns.

Teaching in a radio code

CAUTION
Danger of injuries due to unintended door travel

Unintended door travel may occur while teaching in the radio code.

  • Pay attention that no persons or objects are in the door’s area of travel when teaching in the radio system.

A maximum of 300 radio codes can be taught in the receiver. They can be distributed at will over the existing channels. If the same radio code is taught in on two different channels, it will be deleted on the first taught-in channel. If more than 300 radio codes are taught in, the first ones to be taught in will be deleted.

Assignment of functions

Channel 1 Impulse sequence control (open — stop — close — stop — open…)
Channel 2 Light (on — off — on — off — on…)
Channel 3 Partial opening / traffic leaf

(function depending on the type of operator)

Channel 4| Open (open — stop — open — stop — open…)
Channel 5| Close (close — stop — close — stop — close…)

In learn mode, the channels of the receiver can be switched by pushing the P button, as long as no radio code has been recognized.

To activate / switch a channel:

  • Press the P button once to activate channel 1.
  • Press the P button 2 times to activate channel 2.
  • Press the P button 3 times to activate channel 3.
  • Press the P button 4 times to activate channel 4.
  • Press the P button 5 times to activate channel 5. To abort the learn mode:
  • Press the P button 6 times or wait for the timeout.

Timeout
If no valid radio code is detected within 25 seconds, the receiver automatically returns to the operation mode.

Teaching in a radio code

HOERMANN-ESE-MCX-BiSecur-5-Channel-Receiver-FIG-3

  1. Press the P button to activate the desired channel.
    • The LED will flash blue once for channel 1.
    • The LED will flash blue 2 times for channel 2.
    • The LED will flash blue 3 times for channel 3.
    • The LED will flash blue 4 times for channel 4.
    • The LED will flash blue 5 times for channel 5.
  2. Put the hand transmitter whose radio code is to be inherited into the Inheriting / Transmitting mode. If a valid radio code is detected, the LED flashes quickly in blue and then goes out. The receiver is in the operation mode.

Operation

In the operation mode, the receiver signals the recognition of a valid radio code by illuminating the LED.

NOTE:
If the radio code for the taught-in hand transmitter button was copied from another hand transmitter, the hand transmitter button must be pressed a second time during initial start-up.

  • A valid radio code channel 1 is discovered = The LED is illuminated briefly once
  • A valid radio code channel 2 is discovered = The LED is illuminated briefly 2 times
  • A valid radio code channel 3 is discovered = The LED is illuminated briefly 3 times
  • A valid radio code channel 4 is discovered = The LED is illuminated briefly 4 times
  • A valid radio code channel 5 is discovered = The LED is illuminated briefly 5 times

Door position feedback

  HS 5 BiSecur
Open Position: door is not closed
Close Position: door is closed
Partial opening Position: door is not closed
No feedback Communication error / beyond range

No feedback

After the command for manual door position query
There is a communication error if the ESE BiSecur / ESE-MCX BiSecur receiver does not receive feedback from the operator within 5 seconds after the command. The HS 5 BiSecur hand transmitter does not subsequently receive any feedback from the receiver and the LED on the hand transmitter flashes orange quickly 4 times.

After the command for automatic feedback on the door position
There is a communication error if the ESE BiSecur / ESE-MCX BiSecur receiver does not receive feedback from the operator within 180 seconds after the command. The HS 5 BiSecur hand transmitter does not subsequently receive any feedback from the receiver and the LED on the hand transmitter flashes orange quickly 4 times. The door position will be queried 4 times within these 180 seconds by the ESE BiSecur / ESE-MCX BiSecur receiver. The queries are performed automatically after approx.

  • 25 seconds
  • 40 seconds
  • 60 seconds
  • 180 seconds

Communication error
The LED on the ESE BiSecur / ESE-MCX BiSecur flashes slowly permanently when a communication error arises.

  • Check the connecting lead (system cable).

Reset

All radio codes are deleted by the following steps:

  1. Press and hold the P button.
    • The LED slowly flashes in blue for 5 seconds.
    • The LED flashes rapidly in blue for 2 seconds.
  2.  Release the P button.

All radio codes have been deleted.

NOTE:
If the P button is released prematurely, the device reset will be aborted and the radio codes are not deleted.

Disposal

Dispose of the packaging sorted by materials. Electrical and electronic devices must be returned to the appropriate recycling facilities. Dispose of the batteries separately. Each consumer is legally required to leave batteries with a collection point in their community, their district, or with a trader.
