Hardware Installation

  1. Securely screw the antennas (N-type, not included) onto the antenna connectors on the top, bottom and/or side panels.
  2. Connect the UPLINK port to an AP Controller (AC), router or computer through a Poe injector (30W, lightning protection 6kV).
Option 1A Nebula Registration with the App
Use the Zyxel Nebula Mobile app to register the Zyxel Device to the NCC using the QR code.
    Where to find QR code:

Download and open the Zyxel Nebula Mobile app. Log in with your myZyxel account. Create an organization and site or select an existing site. Scan the Zyxel Device’s QR code to add it to the site. (You can find the QR code in its web configurator or on a label on the device or its box.)

Note: The Zvxel Device will go into cloud management mode automatically after it is registered to a site.

Option 1 B Nebula Registration with the Web
Use the Zyxel Nebula portal to register the Zyxel Device to the NCC using the MAC address and serial number.

Follow the steps below to manage the Zyxel Device through the Zyxel cloud- based network management system.

Note: Make sure the connected router has Internet access. © Go to the Zyxel Nebula Control Center (NCC) website (https://nebula.zyxel.com). Click Get Started to sign up for a myZyxel account and log in.

  1. Create an organization and a site (network) in the NCC.
  2. Enter the Zyxel Device’s LAN MAC address and serial number (S/N) (see the label on the device) in the NCC configuration screen.

Note: The Zyxel Device will go into cloud management mode automaticall after it is registered to a site. See the NCC User’s Guide for more information about configuring the Zyxel Device through the NCC.

Direct Management

  • Use the web configurator to directly manage the Zyxel Device.

From a WiFi enabled computer, search for the Zyxel Device’s default WiFi network name (Zyxel-xxxx, where xxxx is the last four characters of the MAC address) and connect to it. Open your web browser and enter “http://1.1.1.1 (setup.zyxel.com)” for initial configuration. Enter the default user name (admin) and password (1234). Click Login.

Note: If the Zyxel Device cannot connect to the Internet, use the DHCP- assigned IP address of the Zyxel Device to access its web configurator. Check the connected router or DHCP server for the IP address of the Zyxel Device.

Use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer to the UPLINK port of the Zyxel Device through a PoE injector or Pot switch. Use its DHCP-assigned IP or default static IP address “http://192.168.1.2” to access the web configurator. Make sure your computer IP address is in the same subnet as the Zyxel Device’s.

  1. The wizard appears automatically. Use the wizard to set up your Zyxel Device.
Note: It takes 1 to 2 minutes to apply your wizard changes. The LEDs then turn steady green when the system is ready.

  2. Use the Zyxel Device’s new wireless settings (SSID and key) to re-connect to the Zyxel Device’s WiFi network for Internet access if you change them in the wizard (or log in to the web configurator when the Zyxel Device is using a WiFi connection).
Note: The 1.1.1.1 (setup.zyxel.com) is for initial setup only. It is not usable after the Zvxel Device is configured.
Note: Check the Dashboard screen and note down the Zyxel Device’s IP address in case you need to access its web configurator again.

Cable Connection

  1. Unscrew the cable gland to A, B and C.
  2. Put an Ethernet cable through A.
  3. Open and attach B to the Ethernet cable with the smooth side facing the LAN port of the Zyxel Device.
  4. Put the Ethernet cable through C.
  5. Push B into C.
  6. Insert the Ethernet cable into the LAN port.
  7. Secure C into the LAN port.
  8. Screw A into C

Pole / Wall Mounting

Connect M Bracket and Main Frame

  1. Use B, C, and D to attach A to the back of the Zyxel Device
  2. Use G, H, and I to attach E to F. Do not tighten the screws until you adiust the mounting angle in the final step
  3. AS Align E with A. Insert J through the holes, and use Hand I to secure it.

Wall Mounting (Optional)

  1. Use the four corner holes of C to mark holes on a wall. Drill four holes in a wall.
  2. Use B to secure C to the wall through A

Pole Mounting (Optional)

  1. Place A around a pole. Insert A into the holes on E. Use a wrench to secure E to the pole with B. C.and D

Weatherproofing Connections

  1. Liquid can weaken RF (radio frequency) or WiFi signals. To prevent your antenna connections from getting wet, you will need the following items:
  2. Vinyl electrical tape (not included)
  3. Rubber splicing/mastic tape or butyl rubber tape (not included) After attaching antennas to the AP, wrap the electrical tape around each antenna to seal the assembly gap between the antenna and the connector.
  4. Then wrap the taped connectors with a layer of rubber tape. Finally, it is recommended that you wrap the connectors again with one laver of electrical tape.

Grounding

  1. Remove the M4 ground screw from the Zyxel Device’s rear panel as shown. Secure a green/yellow ground cable (18 AWG or smaller) to the Zyxel Device’s rear panel using the M4 ground screw.
  2. Attach the other end of the cable to the ground, either to the same ground electrode as the pole you installed the device on or to the main grounding electrode of the building. Follow your country’s regulations and safety instructions to electrically ground the device properly. Qualified service personnel must confirm that the building’s protective earthing terminal is valid
