STEP 1 Adjusting Roller Distance
STEP 1.1 Loosen the roller
When the distance between the two rollers is not far enough to support the
material. It can be adjusted with the following steps:
-
Grab the roller with one hand and loosen the M4 thumbscrew counterclockwise with the other hand, make sure the distance between the thumbscrew and the left bracket plate is 12mm.
-
Pull up the right synchronous belt to remove it from the groove of the synchronous wheel and push two rollers to the right at the same time, so the two bearings on the right end will come out from the limit hole of the right bracket plate.
-
Pull the two bearings out of the left bracket plate, so the two bearings on the right end will come out from the limit hole of the right bracket plate.
STEP 1.2 Adjusting Roller Distance
- Adjust the distance between the two rotating shafts according to the material you want to engrave on.
STEP 1.3 Re-install the roller shaft
-
Adjust the rotating shaft to the correct distance, and make sure both sides of the shaft are in the same position. Then we should install the bearings back on the limit hole.
-
Push the right end of the roller to the left until they are completely inside the limit hole of the left bracket plate.
-
Repeat the same steps with the left bearings – push the left end of the roller to the right until they are completely inside the limit hole of the right bracket plate.
-
Tighten the two M4 thumbscrews.
-
Install the synchronous belt back on the groove of the synchronous wheel.
STEP 1.4 Check before use
- Check whether the synchronous belt is on the groove of the synchronous wheel.
- Rotate one roller with your hand, and the other roller should rotate with it smoothly. If the two rollers do not move in synchronization or the roller movement is not smooth, please check and adjust the shaft again before you start engraving.
STEP 2 Guide on Engraving Cylinder
- Place your CNC or laser engraver on a flat surface, and put the rotary roller under your machine with enough space between the material and the laser head to avoid any collisions.
- Move the rotary roller to make sure the highest point of the engraving material is located directly below the laser beam, and its axis of rotation is parallel to the laser head moving direction.
- Adjust the laser head focal distance according to the highest point of the engraving material.
STEP 3 Guide on Engraving Material Like Wine Glass
- Insert two M3 hand-screws through the nylon spacer and Y-shaped bracket as shown, and then screw them into the corresponding threaded holes on the left bracket plate.
- Place the larger diameter end of the engraving material between the two rollers and the smaller diameter end between the two round pulleys.
- When the distance between the two rollers does not meet your requirement, refer to step one to adjust it, make sure the axes of rotation of the two rollers are parallel to the laser head moving direction.
- The axes of rotation of the two rollers should also be parallel to the engraving material axis of rotation, if not, loosen the two M3 thumbscrews and move the Y-shaped bracket up and down until you get a parallel result, then tighten the two M3 thumbscrews.
- If the Y-shaped bracket movement is restricted, remove the two M3 thumbscrews, then choose two suitable threaded holes from the four Y-shaped bracket fixed threaded holes, then install the two M3 thumbscrews back.
- Rotate one roller with your hand, and the other roller should rotate with it smoothly. If the two rollers do not move in synchronization or the roller movement is not smooth, please check and adjust the roller again before your start engraving.
- Refer to STEP 2 for subsequent steps like focal length adjustment and engraving.
STEP 4 Wire Connection
- Choose the correct stepper motor extension cable according to the wire sequence on your laser/CNC machine controller.
- If the laser head moving direction is the X-axis direction, unplug all Y-axis stepper motor cables on your machine.
- Connect the extension cable with the stepper motor cable on the rotary roller, then connect the Y-axis stepper motor cable with the extension cable.
- If the laser head moving direction is the Y-axis direction, unplug all X-axis stepper motor cables on your machine.
- Connect the extension cable with the stepper motor cable on the rotary roller, then connect the X-axis stepper motor cable with the extension cable.
- Turn on the machine and test whether the rotary roller stepper motor is working properly.
