Cleaning Instructions

Filter Cartridges manufactured with 100 polyester spun bond ePTFE filter media are cleanable by either wet washing or dry cleaning. Note that care must be used when cleaning spun bond ePTFE filter media to avoid damaging the filter media itself. Abrasive cleaning can damage the filter media and affect its performance.

CAUTION

  • Do not use High-Pressure Air or Water.
  • Do not use harsh brushes or similar devices.
  • Do not use oils, solvents or harsh detergents.
  • Do not apply direct pressure to the filter on the dirty “dust” side of the filter.
  • Apply protective clothing on an individual (s) cleaning filter cartridges.
  • Contain any residue during the cleaning process for disposal when finished.

NOTE
It is very important to record the DP (differential pressure) on your gauge prior to cleaning the filter cartridges, to note the effectiveness of the cleaning.

Dry Cleaning Instructions

  1. Pulse clean all filters off line (fan only) for 60 minutes after adjusting your pulse frequency to 15-second intervals at 90psi or as close as you can get with your equipment. Do not adjust your pulse duration from 100 milliseconds.
  2. Remove filter cartridges from dust collector and clean with a compressed air hose/wand at 60psi. Note- the size of the nozzle on the air hose should be larger than 3/8” to protect the filter media.
  3. Moving the air nozzle up and down, covering the entire area of the filter element. If the dust is still visible on the outside of the filter cartridge, move the nozzle of the air wand to the inside of the filter cartridge. Moving the nozzle parallel with the pleat and held at a 45°angle to the pleat at a sufficient distance away to avoid damaging the media pleat pack. Do not clean the filter from the outside, as any air blown at the filter cartridge will force the dust “dirt” particles furtherer into the fabric of the filter media.
  4. Inspect the interior of the dust collector for any dust “dirt” build up, damage or wear to the dust collector. Inspect the pulse/cleaning system for the dust collector for any damage and replace any required parts.
  5. Reinstall the filter cartridges, noting the DP (differential pressure) on your gauge.

Wet Cleaning Instructions

  1. Prior to any wet washing of the filter cartridge, first, use the above dry cleaning instructions to pre-cleaning your filter cartridges.
  2. Place the filter cartridge in a 2% – 3% solution (about 4oz. per gallon) of mild dishwashing soap (either: Joy, Ivory Palmolive, etc.) and let the cartridge soak for 10 minutes.
  3. Remove the filter cartridge from the inside to the outside of the cartridge with a garden hose, without exceeding 50psi. Thoroughly rinse all traces of detergent from both sides of the media.
  4. Rinsing outside of the filter cartridge needs to be done with a water stream at a 45°Angle and parallel to the pleats.
  5. Let the filter cartridge dry completely for 24-48 hours at 70°F or higher temperature. Do not dry in the dust collector with the fan on! The filter cartridges must be completely dry before reuse.
  6. Reinstall the filter cartridges and note the DP (Differential pressure) on the gauge.
