This is a cordless vehicle impact wrench with a 20V battery. It is designed to assist with the tightening and loosening of nuts and bolts on vehicles.

Product Usage Instructions

1. Before using the device, unfold the page containing the illustrations and familiarize yourself with all the functions of the device.
2. Insert the tool you want to use into the tool holder (1) and secure it in place.
3. Adjust the direction of rotation by sliding the switch (4) to the desired position.
4. Adjust the torque by rotating the torque adjustment ring (5) to the desired setting.
5. Insert the battery (8) into the battery compartment until it clicks into place. To remove the battery, press the release button (9) and slide the battery out.
6. To charge the battery, connect the charger to a power source and insert the battery into the charger. Refer to the user manual for specific charging times for each type of battery.
7. To turn on the device, press and hold the power switch (3). To turn it off, release the switch.
8. Use the device to tighten or loosen nuts and bolts on vehicles as needed. Refer to the manufacturer’s instructions for specific torque settings and time or power requirements.
9. After use, clean the device with a dry cloth. Do not immerse in water as there is a risk of electric shock.

Intended purpose

The device is designed for inserting and releasing bolts as well as tightening and releasing nuts. Any other use that is not explicitly approved in these instructions may result in damage to the equipment and represent a serious danger to the user. The appliance must only be used by adults. Adolescents over the age of 16 may use the device only under supervision. The user or operator is responsible for accidents causing injury to other people or damage to property. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for damage when the trimmer is not used in conformity with its intended purpose or due to incorrect operation.The device is part of the ( Parkside) X 20 V TEAM series and can be operated using ( Parkside) X 20 V TEAM series batteries. The batteries may only be charged using chargers from the ( Parkside) X 20 V TEAM series.

Functional description
The wireless impact wrench has clockwise/counter-clockwise rotation and a 1/2 “ square drive. The rotary impact function of the device converts the force of the motor into uniform rotary impacts. The striking mechanism switches on when tightening and loosening materials.

General Safety Directions for Power Tools

WARNING! Read all safety notices, instructions, illustrations and technical data that have been provided with this power tool. Omissions in compliance with safety directions and instructions can cause electrical shock, fi re, and/or severe injuries.

Retain all safety directions and instructions for future use. The term „power tool“ in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool).

WORK AREA SAFETY

• Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
• Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of fl amiable Liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks that may ignite dust or fumes.
• Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

• Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodi-fi ed plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
• Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an in-creased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
• Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
• Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
• When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
• If the operation of the power tool in a damp environment is unavoidable, please use a residual current circuitry. The use of a residual current circuitry reduces the risk of an electric shock.

PERSONAL SAFETY

• Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the infl u-ence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention white operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
• Use personal protective equip-ment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
• Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to a power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energizing power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
• Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the pow-er tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
• Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the pow-er tool in unexpected situations.
• Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
• If dust extraction and collection devices can be installed, make sure that these are connected and used correctly. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.
• Do not allow yourself to be lulled into a false sense of security and do not disregard the safety rules for power tools, even if you are familiar with the power tool after using it many times. Careless action can lead to serious injuries within a fraction of a second.

POWER TOOL USE AND CARE

• Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.

• Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

• Remove the plug from the wall socket and/or remove the rechargeable battery before you change the device’s settings, change accessory parts or put away the power tool. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentaIly.

• Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

• Look after the power tool and application tool carefully. Check for misalignment or binding
  of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.

• Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less Iikely to bind and are easier to control.

• Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working condi-tions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

• Keep handles and grip surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grip surfaces do not permit safe operation and control over the power tool in unexpected situations.

CAREFUL HANDLING AND USE OF BATTERY DEVICES

• Charge the batteries only in chargers that are recommended by the manufacturer. Risk of fi re if a charger that is suitable for a specifi c type of battery is used with other batteries.
• In the power tools, use only the batteries designed for the pur-pose. The use of other batteries may result in injuries and risk of fi re.
• Keep the unused battery away from paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws and other small metal objects, which could cause bridging of the contacts. A short circuit between the battery con-tacts may cause burns or fi re.
• If used incorrectly, liquid may leak from the battery. Avoid contact with this. In the event of accidental contact, rinse off with water. If the liquid gets into eyes, seek medical assistance. Leaking battery fl uid may cause skin irritations or burns.
• Do not use damaged or altered batteries. Damaged or altered batteries can be unpredictable and lead to fi re, explosion or risk of injury.
• Do not expose batteries to fi re or elevated temperatures. Fire or temperatures over 130 °C can cause an explosion.
• Follow all instructions for charging and never charge the battery or the battery-powered tool outside the temperature range stated in the operating instructions. Incorrect charging or charging outside the permitted tem-perature range may destroy the battery and increase the risk of fi re.

SERVICE

• Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
• Never repair damaged batteries. All battery repairs should be carried out by the manufacturer or authorised customer service centers only.

Further safety directions

• Hold the power tool by the insulated handle grips when performing work in which the screw may come into contact with hidden wiring or its own power cord. If the screw were to come into contact with a live electrical cable, metal parts of the appliance could also become live and cause an electric shock.
• Keep hands away from rotating parts. Wait until the power tool has stopped before placing it down. Risk of injury!
• Avoid contact with the tool insert or the component part immediately after processing. The parts may be hot and cause burn injuries.
• Immediately switch off the power tool if the tool insert is blocked due to overloading or tilting of the component part. The loss of control can result in injuries.
• Secure the workpiece. A workpiece that is retained with clamping appliances or a vice is held more securely than with your hand.
• In case of soft materials such as aluminium or similar, using the impact wrench can damage the thread or screw seat if screwed too tight.
• Protect yourself and others, including people in the immediate vicinity, with the necessary safety measures or precautions to prevent damage to health.
• Do not use any accessories that are not recommended by PARKSIDE. This can result in electric shock or fire.

Observe the safety information and notes on charging and proper use as shown in the instruction manual for your battery and charger from the
( Parkside) X 20 V TEAM series. A detailed description of the charging process and further information can be found in the separate operating instruc-tions.

Residual risks
Even if properly operating and handling this electric tool, some residual risks will remain. Due to its construction and build, this electric tool may present the following hazards:

• Injuries caused by moving parts or hot surfaces.
• Ear damage if working without ear protection.
• Damage to your health caused by swinging your hands and arms when operating the appliance for longer periods of time or if the unit is not held or maintained properly.

Warning! During operation, this electric tool generates an electromagnetic fi eld which, under certain circumstances, may impair the functionality of active or passive medical implants. To reduce the risk of serious or lethal injuries, we recommend that persons with medi-cal implants consult their doctor and the manufacturer of their medical implant before operating the machine.

Operation

Inserting/replacing the tool

1. Push the desired bit (11-14) onto the tool holder (1).
2. To remove it, pull the bit off from the tool holder (1).

Set the direction of rotation

You can toggle between right and left rotation by pushing the direction of rotation switch (5).

• The direction changed may only be performed in standstill mode!

1. Clockwise direction: Push the directional switch (5) to the left up to the stop.
2. Counter-clockwise direction: Push the directional switch (5) to the right up to the stop.

Adjusting the torque

1. Press the torque button (7) briefly once to be able to read the current torque on the display below.
2. Press the torque button (7) repeatedly to adjust the set torque.

Inserting/removing the rechargeable battery

1. To insert the batteries (8) into the de-vice, push the batteries along the guide rails into the device. You will hear them click into place.
2. To remove the batteries (8) from the de-vice, press the release button (8a) on the batteries and pull the batteries out.

Charging the battery

• If warm, allow the battery to cool before charging.
• Charge the battery (8) when only the red LED on the battery charge level indicator (8b) is illuminated.

1. If necessary, remove the battery (8) from the machine.
2. Slide the battery (8) into the charging slot of the charger (9).
3. Plug the charger (9) into a socket.
4. Once charging is complete, disconnect the charger (9) from the mains supply.
5. Remove the battery (8) from the charger (9).

Switching on/off

1. Press the on/off switch (3). The device runs at the maximum speed.
2. To turn it off, release the on/off switch (3).
   • During breaks in work, the device can be hung from a belt, using the integral metal clip (15). Take care to ensure that the device is switched off and secured against accidental activation.

Working Instructions

• The tightening torque depends on the selected speed and impact duration.
• Use the wireless impact wrench when tightening screws and nuts exclusively for pre-assembly. The desired target torque of the screw or nut is not to be achieved by the wireless impact wrench but by means of a torque wrench which is set to the target torque.
• The tightening torque actually achieved must be checked in all cases with a torque wrench.
• When using the device for longer periods of time, allow the device to run for 10 seconds without any load every now and then.
• In order to achieve optimum impact force, do not exert any pressure against the screw/nut.
  • Always follow the manufacturer‘s instructions for tightening screws or nuts. Follow the manufacturer‘s guidelines for the inspection of screws or nuts in accordance with time or performance.
  • After a wheel change is carried out, reference is regularly made to an inspection of the wheel bolts or nuts. That inspection must be carried out with a torque wrench after 50 to 100 km.

Attach extension (optional)

1. Push the desired extension (*) (not included in package) onto the tool holder (1).
2. Push the desired socket (11-14) onto the extension (*).
3. To remove it, pull the socket away from the extension (*).

Cleaning and maintenance

• Turn off the appliance and, before doing any servicing, remove the battery.
• Contact our Service Centre about repairs and servicing not described in this manual. Only use OEM parts. Risk of injury!

The following cleaning and servicing should be done regularly. This will ensure a long and reliable service life.

Cleaning

• Do not spray the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water. Electric shock hazard!
• Keep clean the ventilation slots (A 4), motor housing (A 2) and handle (A6) of the appliance. Use a damp cloth or a brush. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents. You may otherwise irreparably dam-age the appliance.

Storage

• Clean the device prior to storage. Store the device in the storage case (A 10) provided in a dry place and out of reach of children.

Disposal and protection of the environment

Remove the battery from the device and take the device, battery, accessories and  packaging for environmentally friendlyrecycling. Electric units do not belong with domestic waste. Do not dispose of batteries in household waste, fi re (risk of explosion) or water. Damaged batteries may damage the environment and your health if toxic fumes or liquids leak out.

Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment: Used electrical devices must be collected separately for disposal and recycled in an environmentally sound manner.Depending on the implementation in national law, you may have the following options:

• Return to a shop,
• Hand over to an offi cial collection point,
• Return to the manufacturer/distributor. We will dispose of any defective devices that you send to us free of charge.

This does not affect accessories enclosed with the old devices or tools without any electrical components. Defective or used batteries must be recycled in accordance with Directive 2006/66/EC.

Dispose of batteries in accordance with the local regulations. Take batteries to an old battery collection point where they will be recycled in an environmentally friendly manner. For information about this, ask your local waste management company or our service center. Dispose of batteries in discharged condition. We recommend covering the pole with adhesive tape to prevent a short circuit. Do not open up the battery.

Guarantee

Dear Customer, This equipment is provided with a 3-year guarantee from the date of purchase. In case of defects, you have statutory rights against the seller of the product. These statutory rights are not restricted by our guarantee presented below.

Terms of Guarantee
The term of the guarantee begins on the date of purchase. Please retain the original receipt. This document is required as proof of purchase. If a material or manufacturing defect occurs within three years of the date of purchase of this product, we will repair or replace – at our choice – the product for you free of charge. This guarantee requires the defective equipment and proof of purchase to be presented within the three-year period with a brief written description of what constitutes the defect and when it occurred. If the defect is covered by our guarantee, you will receive either the repaired product or a new product. No new guarantee period begins on repair or replacement of the product.

Guarantee Period and Statutory Claims for Defects
The guarantee period is not extended by the guarantee service. This also applies for replaced or repaired parts. Any damages and defects already present at the time of purchase must be reported immediately af-ter unpacking. Repairs arising after expiry of the guarantee period are chargeable.

Guarantee Cover
The equipment has been carefully produced in accordance with strict quality guidelines and conscientiously checked prior to delivery. The guarantee applies for all material and manufacturing defects. This guarantee does not extend to cover product parts that are subject to normal wear and may therefore be considered as wearing parts (e.g. plug-in nuts) or to cover damage to breakable parts (e.g. switches). This guarantee shall be invalid if the product has been damaged, used incorrectly or not maintained. Precise adherence to all of the instructions specifi ed in the operating manual is required for the proper use of the product. Intended uses and actions against which the operating manual advises or warns must be categorically avoided. The product is designed only for private and not commercial use. The guarantee will be invalidated in case of misuse or improper handling, use of force, or interventions
not undertaken by our authorized service branch.

Processing in Case of Guarantee
To ensure efficient handling of your query, please follow the directions below:

• Please have the receipt and item number (IAN 498499_2204) ready as proof of purchase for all enquiries.
• Please fi nd the item number on the rating plate.
• Should functional errors or other defects occur, please initially contact the service department specified below by telephone or by e-mail. You will then receive further information on the processing of your complaint.
• After consultation with our customer service, a product recorded as defective can be sent postage paid to the service address communicated to you, with the proof of purchase (receipt) and specifi cation of what constitutes the defect and when it occurred. In order to avoid acceptance problems and additional costs, please be sure to use only the address communicated to you. Ensure that the consignment is not sent carriage forward or by bulky goods, express or other special freight. Please send the equipment inc. all accessories supplied at the time of purchase and ensure adequate, safe transport packaging.

Repair Service
For a charge, repairs not covered by the guarantee can be carried out by our service branch, which will be happy to issue a cost estimate for you. We can handle only equipment that has been sent with adequate packaging and postage.

Attention: Please send your equipment to our service branch in clean condition and with an indication of the defect. Equipment sent carriage forward or by bulky goods, express or other special freight will not be accepted. We will dispose of your defective devices free of charge when you send them to us.
