For your safety
Read all safety warnings and all instruc-
WARNING
tions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric
shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
Do not use this battery charger before you have thoroughly read and completely
understood this Instruction Manual. The documents mentioned should be kept for
later use and enclosed with the battery charger, should it be passed on or
sold.
Please also observe the relevant national industrial safety regulations.
Intended use of the battery chargers:
The battery chargers are intended for commercial use in trades, for charging
and re-charging FEIN lithium-ion batteries with the following characteristics:
Charger | ALG80 / ALG8OBC |
---|---|
Battery type | Li-ion* |
Voltage(V) | 10.8 —18 |
Number of cells | > 3 |
Capacity (mAh) | 1000 |
Cell voltage (V) | 4. |
- FEIN Li-ion batteries with a capac- ity of 2.4 Ah (10.8 V / 14.4 V / 18 V) cannot be charged.
Special safety instructions.
This charger can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons
with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience
and knowledge if
they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the safe use of the
charger and understand the hazards involved. Children may not play with the
charger. Cleaning and users maintenance may not be performed by children
without supervision.
Keep the battery charger away from rain or moisture. The penetration of water
into an electrical device increases the risk of an electric shock.
Do not operate the battery charger on easily inflammable surfaces or in
combustible environments. The heating of the battery charger during the
charging process can pose a fire hazard.
Provide for sufficient ventilation during operation. Do not operate the
battery charger in enclosed cabinets or in close vicinity to heat sources.
Ambient temperatures in xcess of +45 °C can lead to malfunctions.
Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.
Otherwise there is danger of fire and explosion.
Keep the battery charger clean. Contamination can lead to danger of an
electric shock.
Before each use, check the battery charger, cable and plug. If damage is
detected, do not use the battery charger. Never open the battery charger
yourself, and have repairs
carried out only by FEIN or an authorized FEIN service agent.
Damaged battery chargers, cables and plugs increase the risk of an electric
shock.
Remove the battery from the charger and pull the mains plug when not using for
extended periods. Saving energy helps to save the environment.
When cleaning the battery charger, pull the mains plug out of the socket.
There is danger of electric shock.
Do not rivet or screw any nameplates or signs onto the battery charger. If the
insulation is damaged, protection against an electric shock will be
ineffective. Adhesive labels are recommended.
Charge only intact original FEIN batteries that are intended for your power
tool. When charging incorrect, damaged, repaired or reconditioned batteries,
imitations or other brands, there is danger of fire and/or explosion.
Caution! Using the charger with Bluetooth ® may cause interference with other
devices and systems, aircraft and medical devices (e.g., cardiac pacemakers,
hearing aids). Also, the possibility of humans and animals in direct vicinity
being harmed cannot be completely exempt. Do not use the charger with
Bluetooth ® near medical devices, chemical plants, areas with explosion
hazards (e.g. petrol stations), in blasting areas and in aircraft. Avoid
operation in direct vicinity of the body over longer periods.

the following two conditions:
- this device may not cause harmful interference, and
- this device must acceptancy interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
Caution: The user is cautioned that changes or modifications not
expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the
user’s authority to operate the equipment.
Note: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits
for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These
limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful
interference in a rezidential installation. This equipment generates uses and
can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in
accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio
communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not
occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful
interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by
turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the
interference by one or more of the following measures:
- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.

Operating Instructions.
Connect the battery charger to the socket outlet without a battery inserted.
The green LED indicator lights up and signals operational readiness. Insert
the battery. The monitoring of the charge procedure is signalled by a flashing
green light. The end of the charge procedure is indicated by continuous green
lighting. The rapid charging starts automatically as soon as the battery
temperature is within the charge-temperature range of 5 °C to 45 °C.
When lithium-ion batteries are fully charged, the battery charger switches off
automatically. Repeated inserting of a charged battery leads to overcharging
and affects the service life of the battery. If the battery becomes discharged
within a short time despite being charged correctly, it has reached the end of
its service life.
The installed fan starts and stops depending on the charger’s internal
temperature. On the ALG80BC, alternate flashing of the green and blue LED
indicates connection readiness of the Bluetooth® module. If the blue LED
lights up continuously,® an active Bluetooth connection exists.
Meaning of the LED indications
LED indicator | Meaning |
---|---|
Continuous green light | The battery charger is ready for operation; mains |
voltage is given.
ALG8OBC: Continuous blue light| The battery charger is ready for operation;
mains voltage is given. The Bluetooth® module is coupled with a mobile device.
Note:
The Bluetooth® module automatically switches to energy saving mode after a
longer period of inactivity. By inserting a Li-ion battery, the Bluetooth A
module is activated again.
Continuous yellow light| The battery temperature is not within the charge-
temperature range of 5 °C to +45 °C. The rapid charging starts as soon as the
battery reaches the allowable charging-temperature range.
LED indicator| Meaning
---|---
Continuous red light| Charging not possible due to the following possible
reasons:
— Contacts contaminated. Improvement measure: Clean the contacts by inserting
and removing the battery several times.
— The battery is defective. Improvement measure: Replace the battery!

The charge indication of charger and battery may temporarily vary for
technical reasons.
Bluetooth® Connection
By coupling the charger with a Bluetooth® low-energy capable mobile device,
data can be transferred between the charger and the mobile device. For this,
download
the FEIN Service App onto your mobile device and fol- low the instructions of
the FEIN Service App.
The FEIN Service App enables:
- the registration of FEIN power tools
- the management of FEIN power tools
- the status check of charger and battery
- access to further information.

Note: If fully charged battery packs are inserted into the battery
charger, the battery charger remains inactive and the battery pack is not
recognized by the my.FEIN app. Please try inserting again once the battery
pack is partially discharged. For battery packs with a production date prior
to 01.01.2021, the serial number may occasionally be displayed incorrectly in
the my.FEIN app. In this case, you can only read out the current charge
condition. Displaying the number of charging cycles of the inserted battery
pack is not possible.
Repair and customer service. Once per week; more often in case of frequent
usage:
- Keep the contacts in the slide-on shoe clean.
- Only dry-clean electrical contacts.
- Ensure that metal chips do not enter the battery charger housing.
If the charger’s power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a special power
cord, available from the manufacturer or their representative.
