FEIN ALG 80 Rapid Fast Charger Instructions
ein ALG80 Fast Charger
For your safety.
Read all safety warnings and all instructions.
Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock,
fire and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future
reference.
Do not use this battery charger before you have thoroughly read and completely
understood this Instruction Manual. The documents mentioned should be kept for
later use and enclosed with the
battery charger, should it be passed on or sold. Please also observe the
relevant national industrial safety regulations
Intended use of the battery chargers:
The battery chargers are intended for commercial use in trades, for charging
and re-charging FEIN lith-ium-ion batteries with the following
characteristics:
Charger | ALG80 / ALG80BC |
---|---|
Battery type | Li-ion* |
Voltage(V) | 10.8 – 18 |
Number of cells | ≥ 3 |
Capacity (mAh) | ≥ 1000 |
Cell voltage (V) | 3.6 |
- FEIN Li-ion batteries with a capac- ity of 2.4 Ah (10.8 V / 14.4 V /18 V) cannot be charged.
Special safety instructions.
This charger can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons
with reduced physical, sen- sory or mental capabilities or lack of experience
and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning
the safe use of the charger and understand the
hazards involved. Children may not play with the charger. Cleaning and users
maintenance may not be per- formed by children without supervi- sion.
Keep the battery charger away from rain or moisture. The penetration of
water into an electrical device increases the risk of an electric shock.
Do not operate the battery charger on easily inflammable surfaces or in
combustible environments. The heating of the battery charger during the
charging process can pose a fire hazard.
Provide for sufficient ventilation dur-ing operation. Do not operate the
battery charger in enclosed cabinets or in close vicinity to heat sources.
Ambient temperatures in excess of +45 °C can lead to malfunctions.
Do not charge non-rechargeable bat- teries. Otherwise there is danger of
fire and explosion.
Keep the battery charger clean. Con- tamination can lead to danger of an
electric shock.
Before each use, check the battery charger, cable and plug. If damage is
detected, do not use the battery charger. Never open the battery charger
yourself, and have repairs carried out only by FEIN or an author- ized FEIN
service agent. Damaged battery chargers, cables and plugs increase the risk
of an electric shock.
Remove the battery from the charger and pull the mains plug when not using
for extended periods. Saving energy helps to save the environment.
When cleaning the battery charger, pull the mains plug out of the socket.
There is danger of electric shock.
**Do not rivet or screw any name-plates or signs onto the battery
charger.**
If the insulation is damaged, protection against an electric shock will be ineffective. Adhesive labels are recommended
**Charge only intact original FEIN bat- teries that are intended for
your power tool.**
When charging incor-rect, damaged, repaired or recondi-tioned batteries,
imitations or other brands, there is danger of fire and/or explosion.
Caution! Using the charger with Blue

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to
the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful
interference, and
(2) this device must acceptany interference received, including interference
that may cause undesired operation.
Caution: The user is cautioned that changes or modifications not expressly
approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s
authority to operate the equipment.
Note: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a
Class B digital device, pur-suant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits
are designed to provide reasonable protection against harm-ful interference in
a rezidential instal-lation. This equipment generates uses and can radiate
radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the
instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However,
there is no guarantee that interfer-ence will not occur in a particular
installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or
television reception, which can be determined by turning the equip- ment off
and on, the user is encour- aged to try to correct the interference by one or
more of the following measures:
–Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
–Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
–Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to
which the receiver is connected.
–Consult the dealer or an expe- rienced radio/TV technician for help.

Operating Instructions.
Connect the battery charger to the socket outlet with- out a battery inserted.
The green LED indicator lights up and signals operational readiness. Insert
the battery.
The monitoring of the charge procedure is signalled by a flashing green light.
The end of the charge procedure is indicated by contin- uous green lighting.
The rapid charging starts automatically as soon as the battery temperature is
within the charge-temperature range of 5 °C to 45 °C.
When lithium-ion batteries are fully charged, the bat- tery charger switches
off automatically.
Repeated inserting of a charged battery leads to over- charging and affects
the service life of the battery.
If the battery becomes discharged within a short time despite being charged
correctly, it has reached the end of its service life.
The installed fan starts and stops depending on the charger’s internal
temperature.
On the ALG80BC, alternate flashing of the green and blue LED indicates
connection readiness of the Blue- tooth ® module. If the blue LED lights
up continuously, an active Bluetooth ® connection exists.
Meaning of the LED indications
Bluetooth® Connection
By coupling the charger with a Bluetooth® low-energy capable mobile device,
data can be transferred between the charger and the mobile device. For this,
download
the FEIN Service App onto your mobile device and follow the instructions of
the FEIN Service App.
The FEIN Service App enables:
- the registration of FEIN power tools
- the management of FEIN power tools
- the status check of charger and battery
- access to further information.
The QR Code for the FEIN Service App is available below:
Note:
If fully charged battery packs are inserted into the bat- tery charger, the battery charger remains inactive and the battery pack is not recognized by the my.FEIN app. Please try inserting again once the battery pack is par- tially discharged.
For battery packs with a production date prior to 01.01.2021, the serial number may occasionally be dis- played incorrectly in the my.FEIN app. In this case, you can only read out the current charge condition. Display- ing the number of charging cycles of the inserted bat- tery pack is not possible.
Repair and customer service.
Once per week; more often in case of frequent usage:
- Keep the contacts in the slide-on shoe clean.
- Only dry-clean electrical contacts.
- Ensure that metal chips do not enter the battery- charger housing.
If the charger’s power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a special power cord, available from the manufacturer or their representative.
Warranty and liability.
The warranty for the product is valid in accordance with the legal regulations in the country where it is mar- keted. In addition, FEIN also provides a guarantee in accordance with the FEIN manufacturer’s warranty dec- laration.
The delivery scope of your battery charger may include only a part of the accessories described or shown in this Instruction Manual.
Environmental protection, disposal.
Packaging, worn out battery chargers and accessories should be sorted for
environment-friendly recycling. Dispose of batteries only when discharged.
For batteries that are not completely discharged, insu- late the terminals
with tape as a protective measure against short-circuiting.
