WARNING : Please read the following operating instructions carefully. This Information Note should be retained for the life of the PPE. This Information Note has been approved by the notified body CENTRO TESSILE COTONIERO E ABBIGLIAMENTO SPA, Piazza S. Anna, 2 21052 BUSTO ARSIZIO (VA) Country: Italy n° 0624 which issued the EU certification as required by EU Regulation 2016/425 for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The PPE is UKCA marked according to EU Regulation 2016/425 on personal protective equipment as amended to apply in GB. The EU Declaration of Conformity and the UKCA Declaration of Conformity are available at the following Internet address: www.kask.com.
REGULATORY REFERENCES: The PPE has been manufactured in such a way as to comply with the requirements prescribed by the following technical standards
- Regulation (EU) 2016/425 of the European Parliament and Of the Council of 9 March 2016.
- EN 13688:2013 – “Protective clothing – General requirements”.
- EN 11612:2015 – “ Protective clothing. Clothing to protect against heat and flame”.
- EN 13034:2005+A1:2009 – “ Protective clothing against liquid chemicals – Performance requirements for chemical protective clothing offering limited protective performance against liquid chemicals (Type 6 and Type PB [6] equipment)”.
- EN 1149-5:2018 – “ Protective clothing – Electrostatic properties
The marking indicates compliance with the essential health and safety requirements of REGULATION (EU) 2016/425 on personal protective equipment.
USE : This PPE protects the neck and, partially, the head from accidental contact with small flames, not high values of convective, radiant and contact heat, chemicals within the limits of the marked levels. The choice of suitable PPE should be made on the basis of the specific requirements of the workplace, the type of risk, the level of experience/training and the environmental conditions. The suitability of the characteristics of this model of garment for your needs should be verified prior to use. Do not use for hazards other than those mentioned above. As required, wear in combination with other appropriate protective clothing to ensure complete protection of the body, even during movements.
The manufacturer declines all responsibility for damage caused by improper use of the PPE.
According to our knowledge, the garment does not contain allergenic substances; please report any cases of allergic reactions. The pH and azo dyes content are within the requirements of these standards.
COMPATIBILITY: This PPE is only to be used in combination with one of the following safety helmets: KASK ZENITH and ZENITH X or climbing helmets model KASK ZENITH PL and ZENITH X PL.
LIMITS OF USE : This PPE is not suitable for use in operations where resistance to permeation of chemicals at the molecular level is essential, or a complete barrier to liquid or gaseous chemicals is required (e.g., situations where there is a risk of exposure to massive and powerful emissions of concentrated liquid chemicals) and for all uses not mentioned in this information note,
WARNINGS : Modifications to the PPE are not permitted.
WARNING : In the event of accidental splashing of chemical or flammable liquids onto the PPE while it is worn, the wearer must immediately remove the garment ensuring that the chemical or liquid does not come into contact with any part of the skin. The PPE should then be laundered or removed from service.
WARNING : The garment only offers protection for the part of the body actually covered, and must therefore be supplemented, depending on the intended use, with PPE suitable for protecting those parts of the body not covered by the PPE.
WARNING : the PPE can only provide the performance levels indicated in this information note if it is correctly assembled, worn and closed. The manufacturer declines all responsibility due to incorrect fitting and/or assembly of the garment.
WARNING : The person wearing protective clothing that dissipates electrostatic charges must be properly grounded. The resistance between the person’s skin and ground must be less than 108 Ω, for example by wearing suitable footwear on dissipative or conductive flooring.
WARNING : Protective clothing that dissipates electrostatic charges must not be opened or removed in the presence of flammable or explosive atmospheres, or when handling flammable or explosive substances. WARNING: Electrostatic dissipative protective clothing is intended to be worn in Zones 1, 2, 20, 21 and 22 (see EN 60079-10-1 and EN 60079-10-2) where the minimum ignition energy of any explosive atmosphere is not less than 0016mJ.
WARNING : Protective clothing that dissipates electrostatic charges should not be used in oxygen-enriched atmospheres, or in Zone 0 (see EN60079-10-1), unless approved in advance by the Safety Officer.
CAUTION : The ability of protective clothing to dissipate electrostatic charges may be affected by wear, tearing, washing and contamination.
WARNING : Electrostatic dissipative protective clothing must be worn in such a way that it permanently covers all non-conforming materials during normal use (including bending and movement).
USE : Checks before use: it is compulsory to check the garment to ensure that there are no alterations such as: tears, charring, unstitching, illegible markings. Should any of the above conditions occur, the PPE should be replaced.
Assembly on ZENITH helmets and variants: Insert the clips of the upper splint
of the PPE into the 3 holes in the back of the helmet (fig. 1).
Secure the Velcro straps to the helmet harness by passing them in a loop in
the lateral slots of the headband (fig. 2) then fold them towards the
inside of the helmet to close them on themselves.
Put on the garment then close the Velcro straps on the front so that they are completely overlapped (fig. 6).
Assembly on QUANTUM helmets and variants: Attach the Velcro straps inside the helmet in the positions indicated **(fig. 3).
**
Insert the clips of the upper splint of the PPE into the 3 holes in the back
of the helmet (fig. 5). Hook the Velcro straps of the neck protector to
the corresponding ones inside the helmet (fig. 5 / 5a).
Put on the garment then close the Velcro straps on the front so that they are
completely overlapped (fig. 6)
Disassembly : repeat the previous operations by reversing the sequence.
MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE: Store the PPE in its original packaging in a cool, dry place, away from oils and/or grease. In these conditions, the PPE retains its suitability for use for a long time so it has proved impractical to establish an “expiry date”: KASK S.p.A. recommends that the PPE should be replaced no later than 5 years after purchase or if a technical standard has been superseded by an updated version.

DISPOSAL : If the PPE has not been contaminated with particular substances or products, it may be disposed of as normal textile waste, otherwise follow the legal requirements for special waste.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE MARKING : the following label is shown inside the
PPE: (fig.4). (1) Manufacturer identification, (2) Model, (3) Category, (4)
Fabric composition, (5) CE marking, (6) UKCA marking, (7) Heat and/or fire
protection pictogram and levels of performance, (8) Chemical protection

EN 13034:2009
The PPE offers resistance to chemical aggression by products which are not
immediately dangerous to health and safety, providing adequate protection
against accidental contact (non-abundant sprays, aerosols, etc.) and enabling
the operator to clean or replace the garment in good time.
Type PB [6]
Limited protection from liquid chemicals. Potential exposure to limited amounts of spray/liquid mist or limited accidental splash: Protection when in the event of contamination, operators are able to take appropriate action promptly (e.g., head removal).
