SAFETY HELMET FOR INDUSTRIAL USE
PRODUCT OF ITALY
NOMENCLATURE
SAFETY HELMET FOR INDUSTRIAL USE.
For adequate protection this helmet has to fit or to be adjusted to the size of the user’s head. The helmet is made to absorb the energy of a blow by partial destruction or damage, and even though such damage may not be readily apparent, any helmet subjected to severe impact should be replaced. The attention of the user is also drawn to the damage of modifying or removing any of the original component parts of the helmet, other than as recommended by the helmet manufacturer. Helmets should not be adapted for the purpose of fitting attachments in any way not recommended by the helmet manufacturer. Do not apply paint, solvents, adhesives or self-adhesive labels, except in accordance with instructions from the helmet manufacturer. For cleaning, maintenance or disinfection, use only substances that have no adverse effect on the helmet and are not known to be likely to have any adverse effect upon the wearer, when applied in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and information.

INFORMATION NOTE: Read the instructions carefully before using the
helmet; not following them could reduce the safety offered by the helmet. The
manufacturer and/or the supplier cannot accept any liability in the event of
an accident resulting in ersonal injury or even death due to improper use of
the helmet.
PURPOSE OF THE DEVICE : This device has been designed to protect the
user’s head from the risk of objects falling from above and consequent brain
injuries and skull fractures. This helmet is designed to absorb the energy of
an impact through partial distribution and/or damage to essential components.
This helmet should only be used for the activity it is certified for (see
marking). The helmet has been approved for the industry sector, certified
according to the EN 397: 2012 + A1: 2012 standard, and it also meets the
optional requirements of the standard itself in the following points: § 5.2.1
Very low temperature –30 ° C; § 5.2.4 Lateral deformation; § 5.2.5 Splashes of
molten metal; § 5.2.3 Electrical properties for protection against accidental
contact with live conductors up to 440V in alternating current (except for the
AIR variants). It also complies with the additional requirements referred to
in § 4.2.1.2, § 4.2.1.3; §
4.2.1.4 Shock absorption at the front, side, rear of the helmet of the EN
12492: 2012 standard.
Protection against electrical risk: this helmet is certified according to the
EN 50365: 2002 standard (class 0) for use near low voltage systems with
voltage up to 1500V in direct current or 1000V in alternating current. The
helmet, used in combination with other electrically insulated PPEs, prevents
the passage of current through the wearer’s head. The electrically insulating
helmet cannot be used alone. It is necessary to use other insulating
protective devices based on the risks expected for the activity to be
performed. Insulating helmets should not be used in situations in which there
is a risk of partially reducing their insulating properties. The electrical
protection offered by the device can be reduced due to: ageing, unsuitable
cleaning, mechanical or chemical damage or other particular conditions of use
(e.g. in case of rain or snow).
WARNING: The helmet cannot provide full protection against injuries. In
particular, it is important to remember that no helmet can protect the head
from the forces generated by violent impacts. Following a violent impact even
if the damage is not visible, replace the helmet, as it may have exhausted its
ability to absorb further shocks and provide the expected protection.
WARNING: if there is a danger of falling, eg. when working at height or
with lifting platforms, it is mandatory to use a helmet with a chin strap. The
same in cases in which there is a risk of losing the helmet.
NOTE: some regulations or legislations do not allow the use of safety
helmets without chin straps. Verify the possibility of use with the local
authorities. The helmet, subject of this manual, is a Personal Protective
Device; therefore it was subjected to the EU certification procedure, with
application of the requirements provided for in the Annex V of the EU
Regulation 2016/425.
The certification procedure for the EN 397: 2012 + A1: 2012 and EN 50365: 2002
standards was carried out by the notified body n ° 2008, Dolomiticert, Via
Villanova 7 / A, 32013 Longar one, BL – Italy.
The device is also subject to a control procedure in accordance with Annex VII
of the aforementioned regulation as III PPE category. The 2008 Notified Body
is entrusted with this verification task.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE: As a preventive measure, it is essential to wear a helmet at all times while working. For adequate protection, the helmet must be the right size and fit the head perfectly to offer maximum comfort and safety. The helmet must be adjusted to fit the wearer, for instance, the straps should be positioned so as not to cover the ears, the buckle must be located away from the jawbone and the straps and buckle together must be adjusted in such a way as to be both comfortable and close fitting. With the chin strap fastened and correctly adjusted, always check that the helmet does not squeeze the head, nor moves freely back and forth (see Fig. 1).
HELMET ADJUSTMENTS: Wear the helmet and adapt the size by turning the
rear wheel (clockwise to tighten the size and counterclockwise to enlarge it)
or (only for equipped models) simply by bringing the two quick-closing
elements together to obtain the desired tension (Fig 2). Position the size
adjustment system in the nuchal area as shown (Fig. 3), tilting it and
adjusting it in height. For versions equipped with a chin strap, fasten it by
inserting one buckle strap into the other until it clicks into place (Fig.
4a). Pull the chin strap to check that the buckle is locked (Fig. 5). Adjust
the length of the chin strap to firmly secure the helmet on your head. The
rubber ring must be positioned on the end of the strap to prevent it dangling.
Adjust the lateral retractor of the chin strap by sliding it along the straps
until you find the desired position below the ear (Fig. 6). To remove the
helmet from the head, open the chin strap by simultaneously pressing the
buttons on each side of the buckle (Fig. 4b).
Use of the rear adjuster: it’s possible to act on the rear adjuster (only for
equipped versions) to improve the position of the side retractor, avoiding,
for example, interference with the ear or hearing protectors. (Fig. 7)
SPARE PARTS: Changes, replacements and/or removals of one or any of the
original components of the helmet are prohibited unless authorized by the
manufacturer. Only use original KASK spare parts. The helmet should not be
modified to accommodate other accessories other than those described below. If
necessary, contact your retailer or the manufacturer directly.
ACCESSORIES: Check with your retailer or manufacturer the actual
availability of helmet accessories. Follow the installation and operating
instructions supplied with the accessory. Only use accessories approved by the
manufacturer.
VERIFICATION: Before using the helmet, check its integrity in all its
parts. Following a violent impact even if the damage is not visible replace
the helmet, as it may have exhausted its ability to absorb further shocks and
provide the expected protection. In case of unintentional opening or tearing
of the buckle, the latter may no longer guarantee an adequate breaking load,
resulting no longer safe in its use. In these cases it is advisable to have
the helmet serviced by the manufacturer or by centres authorized by the same.
CLEANING: Clean the helmet (and any accessories) using only special
detergents offered by KASK or water, neutral soap and a soft and clean cloth.
Leave it to dry naturally at room temperature. The internal padding can be
removed and washed by hand in cold water or in the washing machine (max.
30°C). Never use other chemical cleaning products or solvents.
If the helmet gets dirty or is contaminated by oil, solvent-based paint or
other substances, especially on the external surface, it should be thoroughly
cleaned in accordance with the previous indications.
STORAGE: When not in use, it is best to keep the helmet at a temperature
between 5°C and 35°C, protected from direct sunlight and far from heat
sources; we recommend storing the helmet in its original package.
APPLICATION OF STICKERS: Do not apply stickers, solvents, labels and
paint if they are not in compliance with the manufacturer’s specifications.
Any repair or modification not foreseen may adversely affect the protective
function of the helmet.
TRANSPORT: Given the type of the device (helmet) there are no special
measures provided for transport.
CAUTION: Do not use the helmet as a base, support or container. Do not
compress it. Do not drop it. Avoid contact with sharp or dangerous objects. Do
not use outside the temperature range -30 ° C + 50 ° C. Avoid grabbing the
helmet by the size adjuster. Protect against chemical agents.
DURATION: The life span of the helmet depends on the occurrence of
various degenerative factors, including sudden changes in temperature,
exposure to direct sunlight, more or less intense use. The helmet must be
checked regularly, and before each use, to detect the presence of any damage
such as cracks, detachments, deformities, peeling that represent factual
elements of the state of deterioration of the helmet. Helmets that have
suffered an impact of substantial magnitude should be replaced even if they do
not show obvious signs of damage. The maximum lifespan of this product is 10
years from the date of manufacture. After this period, the helmet should be
eliminated because the protection is reduced over time due to the aging of the
materials. The manufacturing date is printed inside the helmet.
REVISION: In addition to the normal visual inspection before each use, a
competent person must carry out a thorough examination at least every year.
The registration of the checks must be carried out on a check sheet which can
be downloaded from the website www.kask.com. Do not
remove labels or markings and check their readability. If you find cuts,
abrasions or any other damage, before using the helmet again contact the
manufacturer to have it examined.
3 YEAR WARRANTY: KASK guarantees the product for 3 years for any material
or manufacturing defect. The warranty does not cover defects caused by normal
wear and tear, modifications, incorrect storage, improper maintenance or uses
other than those for which the device has been certified.
MARKING / LABELLING: Information contained inside the helmet, printed on
the label, imprinted on the shell and on the headband, are not to be removed
for any reason.
LIABILITY: KASK S.p.a. declines liability for any direct or indirect
damage, accidental or deliberate, caused by the improper use of KASK products.
The user assumes all risks arising from an improper use of KASK products.
