This appliance is intended for household use only. Do not use outdoors. Before plugging in the Perfect Prep formula feed maker for the first time, ensure that the voltage is compatible with your electricity supply by checking the label on the base of the unit. Ensure water has been added to the unit before switching the unit on. Do not immerse in water. To protect against fire, electric shock and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plugs or other parts of the unit in water or other liquid. Misuse of the product may result in the risk of fire, electric shock and/or personal injury. This appliance shall not be used by children. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children. Appliances can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance.User maintenance, other than cleaning, descaling and filter replacement is not required for this product. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children. Do not touch hot surfaces. When in use the Perfect Prep formula feed maker contains hot water and steam. Keep hands away from dispensing outlet as it can cause burns and scalds. Use in a well- ventilated area. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. If the supply cord is damaged it must be changed by a qualified person in order to avoid a hazard. If the damage is from new the unit must be returned to the manufacturer. If within a retail warranty period this product should be exchanged at place of purchase. The manufacturer will then be made aware.

Always use on a flat heat resistant surface. Do not move appliance when in use. Do not let the cord hang over edge of kitchen work surface or touch hot surfaces. The product has been fitted with a cord wind on the rear of the unit to allow you to adjust the length of the cord safely. It is recommended that the cord be kept as short as possible.
Do not use any accessories other than those supplied with this appliance.

How to set up and clean the Perfect Prep formula feed maker

  1. Place a container under the dispenser outlet to capture the water used to clean the system (ideally at least 1 litre capacity).

  2. Plug in the unit, the water level low warning light will illuminate.

  3. Priming your filter before use: (Handle the filter by the top only)
    • Remove the filter from the packaging.
    • Remove sticker from the top of the filter.
    • Fill a bowl with cold tap water.
    • Fully submerge the filter in the water.
    • Gently agitate the filter until the bubbles cease.

  4. With the water hopper in place (but not the filter) fill the hopper with 1 litre of freshly boiled water
    – HOT WATER –

  5. Wait for the water level low warning light to go out. The water tank hot light will illuminate.

  6. Press the cleaning mode button and hold for 2 seconds. The cleaning mode light will illuminate.

  7. Wait whilst the boiled water is dispensed into the container.

  8. The water level low warning light will illuminate once the water has flushed through the system. BEFORE FIRST USE YOU NEED TO RUN A CLEANING CYCLE which should take approximately 10 minutes. For hygiene and safety reasons you should clean your unit on a regular basis. We recommend you carry out this cleaning cycle every 4 weeks and whenever you replace your filter or if the machine has been unused for a period of 7 days. THE FILTER SHOULD NOT BE FITTED PRIOR TO FIRST USE CLEANING.

  9. Discard the water captured in the container and replace it back under the dispenser outlet.

  10. Remove the water hopper from the unit and fit the filter by pushing the white part through the base of the hopper until secured by the 3 clips.

  11. Fill the hopper with COLD WATER.

  12. Wait for the water level low warning light to go out.

  13. Press the start / stop button. A red light will flash.

  14. The unit will now dispense a small amount of cold water into the container.

  15. Press the start/stop button. A green light will flash and water will be dispensed to finish the cycle. Discard the dispensed water.

  16. Press the filter volume reset button for 2 seconds to clear the memory. YOUR SYSTEM IS NOW READY TO USE.

How to use the Perfect Prep formula feed maker

BEFORE EACH USE you must ensure that the water level is above the minimum fill mark.
Always use cold water when filling the water tank, other than when cleaning.

  1. Check the water level and top up when necessary with COLD WATER. To fill the tank first fill the hopper with water and allow it to pass through the filter before topping it up.

  2. Turn the setting dial to select the feed size you require (4 – 11fl oz).

  3. Adjust the bottle stand so that the top of your sterilised bottle is close to the dispenser outlet.

  4. Press the start / stop button.
    A red light will flash and a volume of HOT WATER (hot shot) is dispensed into your bottle.

  5. The light will change to solid red and the unit will beep twice. You now have 2 minutes to prepare your feed.

  6. Carefully remove the bottle from the stand and measure the correct number of formula scoops into the bottle.

  7. Screw the sterilised milk storage lid onto the bottle and ensure that the lid is tight. Be careful when handling hot liquid.

  8. Shake well until the formula powder has dissolved.

  9. a. Remove the milk storage lid and replace your bottle onto the bottle stand. b. Press the start/stop button again.
    The red light will go out and the green light will flash whilst a volume of COLD FILTERED WATER is dispensed into your bottle to make up the remainder of the feed.

  10. IMPORTANT
    IF YOU DO NOT PRESS THE START/STOP BUTTON WITHIN 2 MINUTES OF THE HOT WATER BEING DISPENSED AN AUDIBLE ALARM WILL SOUND CONSISTING OF A LONG BEEP – YOU SHOULD DISCARD THE FEED AND REPEAT THE PROCESS FROM STEP 1

  11. Once complete the light will change to solid green and there will be a double beep to indicate the end of the second stage.

  12. Always check that the amount dispensed is consistent with the size of feed you have selected on the dial. Add the sterilised teat, screw ring and hood and shake*

  13. For your child’s safety always check food temperature before feeding by testing on a sensitive part of your skin.

  14. YOUR BOTTLE IS NOW READY TO SERVE. Make sure you discard any unwanted feed as per the formula manufacturer’s recommendation.

  15. HOW TO STOP THE FORMULA FEED MAKER
    Should you need to stop the cycle for any reason you can do so by pressing the start/ stop button. You may hear the pump continue to run for a few seconds, the green light will illuminate to show that the cycle has ended. Note Any part completed feed should be discarded and it will not be possible to restart a new cycle for 20 seconds.

How to replace the filter

Your unit comes with an advanced water filter which lasts approximately 3 months (150 litres of water). A red change filter warning light will illuminate when the filter needs replacing soon (approx 30 litres remaining).
IF THIS LIGHT FLASHES, THE FILTER MUST BE CHANGED IMMEDIATELY. Press the cleaning mode button for 2 seconds to empty the tank (ensure a suitably sized container is under the dispenser to collect the water). Then press the filter volume reset button for 2 seconds to clear the memory. Remove the water hopper from the unit and then remove the filter by gently pushing the white part from the base past the 3 securing clips. Dispose of the old filter in general household waste. Follow the cleaning cycle steps as per set up and cleaning instructions on page 4 – fitting your new filter at stage 9a.

Descaling
The descaling process will remove deposits of calcium and other minerals in the system that may affect its performance.
A red decalc / descale warning light will illuminate when the unit requires descaling soon. If the light flashes, you should descale immediately.tommee

  1. Remove the water hopper & filter.

  2. Fill the water tank with 0.5 litres of distilled white vinegar (4% or 5%).

  3. Place a container under the dispenser outlet.

  4. Press the decalc/descale button for 2 seconds and the system will run a descale process.
    During the descale process the red decalc/descale light will continue to flash.

  5. At the end of the descale process an alarm will sound and the descale warning light will go out.

  6. The red cleaning mode light will flash. YOU WILL NEED TO RUN TWO CLEANING CYCLES.

  7. Fill the tank with 1 litre of freshly boiled water.

  8. Follow the cleaning cycle steps as per stages 5-15 of the set up and cleaning process on page 4.
    NOW repeat this process again.

  9. Replace the water hopper and filter.

Dos and Don’ts

It is essential that good hygiene practices are observed in the use and maintenance of your Perfect Prep formula feed maker.
DOS
✔ Ensure your hands and all surfaces that come into contact with the Perfect Prep and its components (including filter) are clean and dry.
✔ This product is intended for use with Tommee Tippee replacement filters only which are available from all Perfect Prep formula feed maker stockists. The use of alternate water filters with this product is NOT RECOMMENDED and could put your child’s health at risk.
✔ Before first use clean the unit following points 1 to 15 in the set up and cleaning section.
✔ A solid red light will indicate when the filter has enough life to filter 30 litres of water. When the change filter light flashes red, the filter must be changed immediately for your child’s safety and health.
✔ Always adjust the height of the bottle stand to ensure that the bottle neck is close to the dispenser outlet to maintain the temperature of the water and avoid any splashes.
✔ Dispose of the filter in general household waste.
✔ Only use drinking water.
✔ Clean the outside of the unit with a clean damp cloth including the dispenser outlet.
✔ For your child’s safety always check food temperature before feeding by testing on a sensitive part of your skin.
✔ Be careful when handling boiling water.
DON’TS
✘ Do not allow the water tank to be contaminated. The inside of the unit should only be cleaned by following the cleaning process in steps 1-15 in the set up and cleaning instructions on page 4.
✘ Do not clean with solvents or harsh chemicals.
✘ This appliance is intended for use in a kitchen and not suitable for use in a nursery.
✘ This unit makes very hot water. Keep hands and other body parts away from the dispenser outlet.
✘ Use cold water only. Do not use water that is over 25°C other than when cleaning the unit using the set up and cleaning process. If water over 25°C is used, the unit will automatically turn itself off.
If this happens allow the unit to cool and restart.
✘ Do not overfill past the max mark on the water hopper.
✘ Do not pour water down the back of the unit.
✘ Do not pour water directly into the water tank. The water must go into the water hopper.

The product is fitted with a BS 1363 mains plug containing a 5A fuse. If it ever becomes necessary to replace the fuse, only use fuses that are marked BS 1362, and rated at 5A. In the unlikely event that this plug is not suitable for the sockets in your home, it should be removed and a suitable plug fitted as follows: The wires of the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code:
GREEN AND YELLOW – EARTH
BLUE – NEUTRAL
BROWN – LIVE
As these colours may not correspond with the coloured markings sometimes used to identify the terminals in the plug, connect as follows. The wire coloured GREEN AND YELLOW must be connected to the terminal marked E or by the earth symbol or coloured GREEN or GREEN AND YELLOW. The wire coloured BLUE must be connected to the terminal marked N or coloured BLACK. The wire coloured BROWN must be connected to the terminal marked L or coloured RED. If you are in any doubt about how to wire a plug or replace a fuse safely, consult a qualified electrician.

FAQs

Where is the best place to keep my Perfect Prep?
– The Perfect Prep should be kept in a cool, dry location, avoiding direct sunlight and keeping away from warm appliances.
– This is recommended to avoid the tank temperature getting too warm.
What does the hot shot do?
– The hot shot helps to dissolve the formula powder quickly and easily, it also kills bacteria which may be present in the formula itself.
– The water dispensed in the hot shot is at a temperature of over 70°C.
What can I do, my Perfect Prep has stopped working after completing a cleaning cycle?
– Unplug your Perfect Prep and let it sit in a cool place, away from direct sunlight for 30 minutes.
– You can then plug back in and use as normal to make the perfect feed.
How often do I need to change the filter?
– On average the filter should last around 3 months, however this depends on the frequency of use and what size bottles you are preparing.
How long can I leave unused water in the tank?
– Water is a food stuff. We recommend using within 1-2 days.
Why do I have to use a Tommee Tippee filter?
– Most standard water filters to do not offer the same level of anti-bacterial protection as our filters, so even if they fit in your perfect prep, they will NOT remove the same level of bacteria.
Why do I need to submerge the filter before first use?
– Submerging primes the filter before useensuring that any air bubbles or loose particles within the filter are removed prior to use.tommee tippee
