1 Safety

1.1 Intended use

In the event of inappropriate or improper use, damage to the product and other property may arise. The room temperature control is designed to control a heating installation with eBUS interface according to the room temperature.

– observance of the operating instructions included for the product and any other installation components

Intended use includes the following:
– observance of accompanying operating, installation and maintenance instructions for the product and any other system components
– installing and setting up the product in accordance with the product and system approval Intended use also covers installation in accordance with the IP class.

Validity: End user
This product can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the product in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children must not play with the product. Cleaning and user maintenance work must not be carried out by children unless they are supervised.

Any other use that is not specified in these instructions, or use beyond that specified in this document, shall be considered improper use. Any direct commercial or industrial use is also deemed to be improper. Caution! Improper use of any kind is prohibited.

1.2 General safety information

Improper operation may present a danger to you and others, and cause material damage.

Carefully read the enclosed instructions and all other applicable documents, particularly the “Safety” section and the warnings.
Only carry out the activities for which instructions are provided in these operating instructions.

3 Product description

The product is a room temperature control.

3.3 CE marking

The CE marking shows that the products comply with the basic requirements of the applicable directives as stated on the declaration of conformity. The declaration of conformity can be viewed at the manufacturer’s site.

4 Operation

4.1 Operating concept

You use the rotary knob to operate the product.

Turn the rotary knob anti-clockwise or clockwise to decrease or increase the value, or to set parameters.
Press the rotary knob to access a setting or to confirm a setting.

4.2 Operating and display functions

The current room temperature is displayed in the basic display.

4.2.1 Setting the target room temperature

Condition: The product is set to the control type for room temperature control.

Turn the rotary knob. ¬ is displayed. ¬ The set target room temperature flashes on the display.
Turn the rotary knob to set the required target room temperature.
Press the rotary knob to confirm the setting, or wait for three seconds until the change is automatically applied. ¬ The display shows the changed target room temperature for three seconds. ¬ The display switches to the basic display.
Condition: The product is set to the control type for remote control, The system control allows the temperature to be changed
Turn the rotary knob. ¬ is displayed. ¬ The current target room temperature flashes on the display.
Turn the rotary knob to set the required target room temperature.
Press the rotary knob to confirm the setting, or wait for three seconds until the change is automatically applied. ¬ The display shows the changed target room temperature for three seconds. ¬ The display switches to the basic display.
Note If a time programme is active, the target room temperature is only changed temporarily, depending on the system control specifications.
Condition: The product is set to the control type for remote control, The system control does not allow the temperature to be changed.
Turn the rotary knob. ¬ is displayed. ¬ If the heating mode is activated, the target room temperature specified by the system control is shown on the display for three seconds. – The target room temperature cannot be changed via the product. ¬ If the heating mode is deactivated by the system control, off is then shown on the display for three seconds. – The target room temperature cannot be changed via the product. ¬ The display switches to the basic display.

4.2.2 Setting the domestic hot water temperature

Note In the control type for remote control, the domestic hot water temperature can only be controlled via the communication unit or the control for the boiler.
Condition: The product is set to the control type for room temperature control, the boiler can generate domestic hot water, the domestic hot water function is activated on the product

Press the rotary knob.
¬ is displayed and the domestic hot water temperature that is currently set on the control flashes in the display (factory setting: 60 °C).
Turn the rotary knob to change the domestic hot water temperature (38­ 65 °C).
Press the rotary knob to confirm the setting, or wait for three seconds until the change is automatically applied. ¬ The display switches to the basic display.

4.2.3 Frost protection

Note The frost protection function is only active if the boiler is operating.

The frost protection function activates the boiler if the environmental temperature in the room in which the product is installed falls below 5 °C. > For a longer period away from home, observe the information on frost protection in the boiler’s operating instructions.

4.3 Troubleshooting

In the event of faults, the corresponding fault messages are shown in the display.

4.4 Caring for the product

Clean the casing with a damp cloth and a little solventfree soap.
Do not use sprays, scouring agents, detergents, solvents or cleaning agents that contain chlorine.

4.5 Decommissioning

Have a competent person decommission the product.

4.6 Recycling and disposal

The competent person who installed your product is responsible for the disposal of the packaging.

If the product is labelled with this mark: > In this case, do not dispose of the product with the household waste.

Instead, hand in the product to a collection centre for waste electrical or electronic equipment.

5 For the competent person

The product must be installed by a qualified competent person while complying with the existing regulations, rules and directives.

5.1 Notes on the documentation
5.1.1 Observing other applicable documents

Always observe all the operating and installation instructions included with the system components.

5.1.2 Storing documents

Pass these instructions and all other applicable documents on to the end user.

5.2 Requirements for the installation site

Install the product as shown.

5.3 Set-up
5.3.1 Opening the housing

On the underside of the product, carefully push the latching lug inwards. – Flat-blade screwdriver
Swivel the front half of the housing upwards.
Remove the front half of the housing upwards from the rear half of the housing.

5.3.2 Mounting the product on the wall

Open the housing.
Position the rear half of the housing on the wall.
Mark the position of the two drill holes through the two mounting holes.
Drill the holes for the fixing screws.
Install the product’s electrics. ( Chapter 5.4.1)
Secure the rear half of the housing to the wall using suitable wall plugs and screws.
Secure the front half of the housing to the rear half of the housing in such a way that the latching lug audibly clicks onto the underside of the product.

5.4 Installation
5.4.1 Electrical installation

Note

Only qualified electricians may carry out the electrical installation. > The maximum length of the eBUS cable is 125 m
Connection cables with 230 V and eBUS cables must be routed separately as of a length of 10 m.
The jumper between terminals RT and 24V on the plug for the boiler’s PCB must not be removed.
Switch off the power supply to the connected boiler.
Check that the boiler is voltage-free.

Connect an eBUS cable to the product’s eBUS connection.
Connect the eBUS cable to the eBUS connection for the control on the boiler ( Instructions for the boiler).
Re-establish the power supply to the connected boiler.

5.5 Start-up

Switch the boiler on.
Open all of the radiator valves in the room in which the room temperature control is located.

5.5.1 Setting the control type and parameter

Note The product is set to the control type for room temperature control at the factory and, in this setting, several operating parameters of the heating system can be set. There is an option to configure the product as a remote control if a compatible system control or a communication unit takes on the control function.

Press and hold the rotary knob for at least 10 seconds to open the installation menu. ¬ is displayed. ¬ You are requested to enter the installer access code.
Turn the rotary knob until 96 is shown in the display.
Press the rotary knob to confirm the entry.
Turn the rotary knob to set the required control type for the product:

– Ct: Room temperature control (factory setting)
– r1…r8: Remote control (only possible in conjunction with a compatible system control/with a communication unit)

Press the rotary knob to confirm the setting.

Condition: The product is set to the control type for room temperature control

Turn the rotary knob to activate or deactivate the product’s domestic hot water function.
– The domestic hot water function must be activated before you can set the domestic hot water temperature on the product ( Chapter 4.2.2). ¬ off (domestic hot water function deactivated = factory setting) or on (activated) flashes in the display. > Press the rotary knob to confirm the setting.

Condition: The outdoor temperature sensor is installed

A Outside temperature [°C] B Target flow temperature [°C] > Turn the rotary knob to set the heat curve. ¬ The value that is currently set (factory setting: 1.2) is shown in the display.

Turn the rotary knob to change the value.
Press the rotary knob to confirm the setting. Condition: The control type (room temperature control/remote control) was not previously changed. ¬ The basic display is shown. Condition: The control type (room temperature control/remote control) was previously changed. ¬ rSEt is shown in the display.
If rSEt is shown in the display, restart the boiler.

5.5.2 Checking the operation

Check that the installation is operating correctly.
Check all of the control and safety elements, along with their settings and operating mode.

5.5.3 Handing the product over to the end user

Inform the end user how to handle the product. Answer any questions the end user may have.

Point out to the end user that all of the radiator thermostats in the product’s installation room must always be fully open.
Pass all of the instructions and documentation for the product to the end user for safe-keeping.
