  • Stop the machine immediately if you are approached.
  • Before operating the machine, make sure to wear protective footwear and long trousers. Do not operate the machine when barefoot or wearing open sandals. Avoid wearing loose fitting clothes, jewellery and ties.
  • Never operate the machine while people, especially children, or pets are nearby.
  • Always inspect the tool before use, and in case the machine is dropped or hits a hard object, check for sign of wear or damage and repair as necessary, especially the parts of the cutting head.
  • Check the tool regularly for loose fasteners, damaged parts, such as cracks in the cutting attachment.
  • Ensure that the air vents are unobstructed.
  • Keep the power cord and extension cords away from cutting parts.
  • Wear eye protection, protective clothing and protective & non-slip shoes at all times while operating the machine.
  • Avoid using the machine under rainy conditions.
  • Use the machine only in daylight or if the working area is sufficiently lit by an artificial light.
  • Switch on the power tool only when the hands and feet are away from the cutting parts.
  • Always turn off the power tool, remove the battery and wait until the blade has come to a complete stop:
  1. Whenever the machine is left unattended.
  2. Before clearing a blockage on the cutting parts.
  3. Before checking, cleaning or working on the machine.
  4. After the power tool has hit a hard object.
  5. Whenever the machine starts vibrating abnormally.
  • Ensure that your feet and hands are at a safe distance from the cutting parts.
  • Always ensure that the ventilation openings are kept clear of debris.
  • Do not run while operating the machine.
  • If the machine breaks down, stop the machine. It must be repaired by the manufacturer or their service agent in order to avoid a hazard.
  • Never operate the machine if you are tired, ill or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Keep the cutting head below waist level. Always cut from left to right so that debris is thrown away from you.
  • The operator must take a break and change working position after working for a long period of time.
  • Never replace the non-metallic cutting part with one that made of metal.
  • Warning: Only touch the moving parts if the machine has been turned off and the moving parts of the power tool have come to a complete stop.
  • Warning: There is always a risk of kickback when working with electric brush cutters if the cutting head comes into contact with a hard object. Kickback will cause the sudden stalling of the cutting head, which in turn results in the cutting head being forced in the opposite direction to the rotation of the cutting blade. Ensure that you retain a firm grip on the handle with both hands at all times, pay attention to the working area to ensure that the cutting blade will not come into contact with hard objects and maintain a firm stance to avoid injury due to kickback.

Safety instructions for the battery pack

  • Do not dismantle, open, smash or burn the battery pack.
  • Do not short-circuit the battery pack. Do not store the battery pack inappropriately in a box or drawer where they may short-circuit each other or be short- circuited by conductive materials. When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
  • Do not expose the battery pack to sources of heat or fire.
  • Avoid storage in direct sunlight.
  • Do not subject the battery pack to mechanical shock.
  • In the event of battery leaking, do not allow the liquid to come into contact with the skin or eyes. If contact has been made, wash the affected area with copious amounts of water and seek medical advice.
  • Seek medical advice immediately if a battery pack has been swallowed.
  • Keep the battery pack clean and dry.
  • Wipe the battery pack terminals with a clean dry cloth if they become dirty.
  • The battery pack needs to be charged before use.
  • Use the correct charging procedure.
  • After extended periods of storage, it may be necessary to charge and discharge the battery pack several times to obtain maximum performance.
  • The battery pack performs optimally when it is operated at normal room temperature (20°C ± 5°C).
  • Recharge only with the specified charger. Do not use any charger other than the one that is provided.
  • Do not use any battery pack which is not designed for use with the equipment.
  • Keep the battery pack out of the reach of children.
  • Remove the battery from the equipment when not in use.
  • Observe the plus (+) and minus (–) marks on the battery and ensure correct use.
  • Make sure the battery is removed prior to changing accessories and before maintenance or repair work.
  • Keep the battery away from microwaves and high pressure.

Safety instructions for the battery charger

  • Before charging, read the instructions.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the charger.
  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
  • Do not charge batteries that are damaged in any way.
  • Do not use the charger outdoors when it’s raining.
  • Protect the charger from moisture.
  • Do not short out the contacts of battery or charger.
  • Respect the polarity “+/-“ when charging.
  • Do not open the unit and keep out of the reach of children.
  • Do not charge the batteries of other manufacturers or any incompatible batteries.
  • Ensure that the connection between the battery charger and battery is correctly positioned and is not obstructed by foreign bodies.
  • Keep the charger clean and store in a dry and frost-free place.
  • When charging batteries, ensure that the battery charger is in a well-ventilated area and away from flammable materials. Batteries can get hot during charging. Do not overcharge any batteries. Ensure that the charger is supervised while it is charging batteries.
  • Do not recharge non-rechargeable batteries, as they can overheat and break.
  • Use the charger in areas where the air temperature is between 18°C and 24°C in order to prolong its life and ensure optimal performance. Do not charge the battery pack in air temperatures below 0°C, or above 45°C as this can cause serious damage to the battery pack.

RESIDUAL RISKS
Even when operating the machine as intended and in accordance with the instructions that this manual contains, the following residual risks still remain:

  • Health issues resulting from prolonged exposure to the power tool’s vibrations. An example of such a health issue includes ‘‘whitefinger’’ disease. In order to reduce the risk of developing ‘‘whitefinger’’ disease, please wear gloves, keep your hands warm and take frequent breaks. If any of ‘‘whitefinger’’ symptoms appear, seek medical advice immediately. ‘‘White finger’’ symptoms include: numbness, loss of feeling, tingling, pricking, pain, loss of strength, changes in skin colour or condition. These symptoms normally appear in the fingers, hands or wrists. The risk increases at low temperatures.
  • Injuries and damage to property due to broken cutting attachments or due to kickback.
  • Injury and property damage caused by flying objects.

VIBRATION INFORMATION
Warning: This power tool may cause hand-arm vibration syndrome if used frequently for extended periods of time without taking breaks regularly and if protective gloves are not worn.

Warning: The vibration emission values can differ from the aforementioned ones depending on how the power tool is used, the materials being cut and if:

ASSEMBLY AND OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS

Before operation
Warning: Do not use the product in potentially explosive atmospheres. Use the product only in ambient temperatures between 10 – 40°C. Turn off the machine before carrying out any maintenance or repair work or mounting or replacing accessories.
Inserting/removing the battery (Fig. A)

  • Insert the battery (4) into the designated spot below the handle (1) until it clicks into place.
  • To remove the battery, press the battery unlocking latch (A) and slide the battery out of the handle.

Charging the battery (Fig. B)
Caution: The battery is slightly charged when it leaves the factory. Charge the battery fully before using it for the first time. The battery heats up while charging. Always allow the battery to cool down to room temperature before you charge the battery.

  • Remove the battery (see section “Inserting/removing the battery”).

  • Connect the power adapter (14) to the charging port (B) of the battery.

  • Connect the plug of the charger to a suitable socket.
    – During the charging process, the red charging indicator glows.
    – After about 60 – 90 minutes, the red indicator light goes out.
    – The green indicator light glows continuously when the charging is completed.
    Note: The charger will become warm and may make slight buzzing sounds while charging. This is normal and does not indicate a fault.

  • Disconnect the charger’s plug from the socket once the battery is fully charged.

Checking the battery level (Fig. C)

  • To check the charging status, the battery level indicator lights up when you press the control button (C).
  • The battery level is shown by 3 LEDs.
    – 3 LEDs start glowing: Battery is charged.
    – 2 LEDs start glowing: Battery is partially charged.
    – 1 LED starts glowing: Battery needs to be charged.

Mounting the safety guard (Fig. D)

  • Mount the safety guard (9) on the product until it clicks into place and screw it on to the side using the screw provided on the safety guard.

Inserting/replacing thread spool (Fig. E, F, G)

  • Turn the machine over so that the cutting head (10) is at the top.
  • Press the two locking buttons (D) on the cutting head simultaneously and remove the cover.
  • Place the thread spool (16) on the guide axis in the housing.
  • Insert the thread end through the thread outlet hole (E).
  • Replace the cover.
  • Make sure that the cover fits exactly into the grooves on the cutting head and that it audibly clicks into place.
  • Press the lock button (F) on the outside of the cutting head and pull out the thread end so that it is level with the thread cutter.

Mounting the additional handle (Fig. H, I)
Caution: Always use the additional handle while operating the machine. Risk of injury.

  • Place the underside of the additional handle (13) on the upper telescopic rod (4).
  • Insert the handle (G) of the additional handle into the handle holder (H).
  • Insert the mounting screw (I) through the large hole on the additional handle and tighten it clockwise until the position of the additional handle is fixed.

Mounting the guide wheel
The guide wheel can be attached in two different positions, depending on the task at hand.
– Proceed as follows if you want to use the machine to trim areas (Fig. J)

  • Mount the guide wheel (15) on the safety guard (9) by sliding the guide wheel onto the provided metal plate (J). Ensure that the guide wheel snaps into place.

– Proceed as follows if you want to use the machine to trim edges (Fig. K)

  • Mount the guide wheel (15) on the motor unit (12) by sliding the guide wheel onto the provided metal plate. Ensure that the guide wheel snaps into place.
    Note: To avoid damaging the machine, be careful not to apply excessive pressure on the guide wheel.

Operation

Switching on/off (Fig. L)
– Switching on

  • Hold the product firmly with both hands using the handle (1) and the additional handle (13).
  • Press the safety lock (2) on the side of the handle.
  • Press and hold the ON/OFF switch (3).
    – You can release the safety lock keeping the on/off switch pressed.

– Switching off

  • Release the ON/OFF switch.

Aligning the cutting head (Fig. M)
The motor unit can be locked in 2 different positions.

  • Hold the motor unit (12) with one hand and with the other the lower telescopic rod (7).
  • Pull the lower telescopic rod away from the motor unit and turn the motor unit to the desired position.
  • Let go of the motor unit and make sure that it clicks back into place in the desired position to prevent the position from changing unintentionally.

Adjusting the cutting angle (Fig. N)
Warning: Ensure that the cutting head is fixed properly before operating the machine.
Using the adjustment button (8) you can lock the cutting angle in 5 positions between 0° and 90°.

  • Place the machine firmly on the ground and push the tilt angle adjustment button on both sides.
  • Release the adjustment button to fix the adjusted tilt angle.
  • Make sure that the adjustment button and the motor unit (12) audibly click into place.

Adjusting the additional handle (Fig. O)
Warning: Ensure that the front handle is fixed properly before operating the machine.
To improve user comfort, the additional handle (13) can be adjusted. Proceed as follows:

  • Loosen the mounting screw (H) until it can be easily moved along the handle.
  • You can also adjust the tilting angle of the additional handle by loosening the mounting screw until the tilting angle can be adjusted without much resistance.
  • Fix the additional handle in place by tightening the fastening screw again.

Adjusting the telescopic extension (Fig. P)
Warning: Ensure that the telescopic rod and its connecting points are fixed properly before operating the machine.
In order to adjust the length of the telescopic rod, proceed as follows:

  • Loosen the lock nut (6).
  • Pull the telescopic rod (7) as far as necessary from the upper telescopic rod (5).
  • Fix the telescopic rod at the desired length by tightening the lock nut again.

TIPS FOR PROPER OPERATION

  • Check the thread spool carefully before each use and ensure it is not damaged.
  • Only use undamaged thread spools.
  • Make sure that the work area is free of rocks, wires, debris and any other hard objects that may cause kickback. If an object cannot be removed, mark its location so that you can avoid touching it with the blade.
  • Do not trim wet grass.
  • For best cutting results, swing the grass trimmer sideways.
  • If the grass is long, it has to be cut short in steps starting from the tip.
  • Keep the power tool away from hard objects to avoid unnecessary wear and tear.
  • The safety guard (9) has an integrated thread cutter (K) which keeps the thread length constant during operation.
  • If you are using the grass trimmer for edge trimming, press the spacers (11) down towards the thread spool.
  • If you are using the product on corners and edges, you can move the guide wheel (15) along the edge by applying slight pressure.

MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE

  • Turn off the power tool, remove the battery and wait until the cutting part has completely stopped moving before carrying out maintenance or cleaning work and before transporting it.
  • Always grab the grass trimmer by the handle while transporting it.
  • Use only the manufacturer´s recommended replacement parts and accessories.
  • Inspect and maintain the machine regularly. Don’t disassemble the tool or carry out any repairs. Have the tool repaired only by authorized service personnel.
  • Secure the machine during transport to prevent damage or injury.
  • Store the product, its accessories and the manual in a dark, dry, frost-free, well-ventilated place.
  • Always store the product in a place that is inaccessible to children.
  • Remove dust and dirt regularly.
  • Re-lubricate all moving parts at regular intervals.
  • Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts.
  • Get the machine serviced and cleaned professionally by a specialist at regular intervals.
  • Clean the grass trimmer with a moist cloth. Never use strong and/or abrasive cleaning agents. Allow all parts to dry completely.
  • Keep the ventilation slots clean and unobstructed.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Problem Possible causes Solution
The power tool does not start 1. The battery is empty.

2. Lengthen the thread by pressing the spool and pulling the thread at the same time.

ENVIRONMENTAL DISPOSAL

In order to avoid damages on transportation, the tool has to be delivered in solid packaging. Packaging as well as the unit and accessories are made of recyclable materials and can be disposed accordingly. The tool’s plastics components are marked according to their material, which makes it possible to remove environmental friendly and differentiated because of available collection facilities.

Do not dispose of electric tools together with household waste material!
In observance of European Directive 2002/96/EC on waste electrical and electronic equipment and its implementation in accordance with national law, electric tools that have reached the end of their life must be collected separately and returned to an environmentally compatible recycling facility.

WARRANTY

The power tools have been manufactured according to strict standards, set by our company, which are aligned with the respective European quality standards. The power tools of our company are provided with a warranty period of 24 months for non-professional use, 12 months for professional use and 6 months for batieries. The warranty is valid from the date of purchase of the product. Proof of the warranty right is the purchase document of the tool (retail receipt or invoice). Under no circumstances shall the company cover the relevant cost of spare parts and respective required working hours unless a copy of the purchase document is presented. In case the repair has to be done by our service department the cost of transportation (to and from) is entirely borne by the sender (client). The tools must be sent for repair to the company or to an authorized workshop in the appropriate way and means of transport.
WARRANTY EXEMPTIONS AND RESTRICTIONS:

  1. Spare parts that wear out naturally as a consequence of being used (brushes, cables, switches, chargers, chokes etc.).
  2. Tools damaged as a result of non-compliance with the instructions of the manufacturer.
  3. Tools poorly maintained.
  4. Use of improper lubricants or accessories.
  5. Tools given to third entities free of charge.
  6. Damage due to an electrical connection at a voltage other than that indicated on the appliance plate.
  7. Connection to a non-earthed power supply.
  8. Change in current voltage.
  9. Damage resulting from the use of salty water (e.g., washing machines, pumps).
  10. Damage or malfunction resulting from improper cleaning procedure of the tool.
  11. Contact of the tool with chemicals, or damage as a result of moisture or corrosion.
  12. Tools that have been modified or opened by unauthorized personnel.
  13. Tools used for rent.

The warranty covers only the free of charge replacement of the component that presents a manufacturing defect or material failure. In case of lack of a specific spare part the company reserves the right to replace the tool with another corresponding model. After all warranty procedures have been concluded, the warranty period of the tool shall not be extended or renewed. Replacement of a spare part with repair charge is covered by a 1 year warranty of good operation, subject to compliance with the warranty terms. The spare parts or tools that are replaced remain in the possession of our company. Requirements, other than those mentioned in this warranty form, regarding power tools repair or damage thereof, do not apply. Greek law and relative regulations apply to this warranty.
WARRANTY
This appliance is a quality product. It was designed in compliance with current technical standards and made carefully using normal, good quality materials. The warranty period is 24 months for non-professional use and 12 months for professional use and commences on the date of purchase, which can be verified by the receipt, invoice or delivery note. During this warranty period all functional errors, which, despite the careful treatment described in our operating manual, are verifiable due to material flaws, will be rectified by our after-sales service staff. The warranty takes the form that defective parts will be repaired or replaced with perfect parts free of charge at our discretion. Replaced parts will become our property. Repair work or the replacement of individual parts will not extend the warranty period not will it result in a new warranty period being commenced for the appliance. No separate warranty period will commence for spare parts that may be ted. We cannot offer a warranty for damage and defects on appliances or their parts caused by the use of excessive force, improper treatment and servicing. This also applies for failures to comply with the operating manual and the installation or spare and accessory parts that are not included in our range of products. In the event of interference with of modifications to the appliance by unauthorized persons, the warranty will be rendered void. Damages that are attributable to improper handling, over loading, or nat-ural wear and tear are excluded from the guarantee. Damages caused by the manufacturer or by a material defect will be corrected at no charge by repair or by providing spare parts. The prerequisite is that the equipment is handed over assembled, and complete with the proof of sale and guarantee. For a guarantee claim, only use the original packaging. That way, we can guarantee quick and smooth guarantee processing. Please send us the appliances post-paid or request a Freeway sticker. Unfortunately we will be unable to accept appliances that are not postpaid. The warranty does not cover parts that are subject to nat-ural wear and tear. If you wish to make a warranty claim, report faults or order spare parts or accessories, please contact the after-sales center: Subject to change without prior notice.
