Product Information

The product is a SlowStop Bollard System that includes a base, an elastomer, an adapter with set screws, and a schedule 40 steel bollard pipe. Product Usage Instructions

It is recommended that only qualified personnel perform the assembly and installation of the SlowStop Bollard System. The installation should only be performed in unbroken concrete, and the anchor holes should be at least 5 inches from any edge.

Tools Required

  • Hammer Drill
  • 3/4 Hammer Drill Bit
  • Impact Wrench
  • 1-1/8 Impact Socket

product Installation and Assembly

  1. Layout and mark the final location using the base as a guide.
  2. Arrange the system so that two anchors will be facing the desired direction.
  3. Drill six holes into the concrete using a hammer drill and a 3/4 hammer drill bit.
  4. Insert the anchor screws into the holes and tighten them to a torque specification of 3/4 95 ft-lb.
  5. Attach the adapter to the base using the set screws, tightening them to a torque specification of 50 ft-lb or 68 n-m.
  6. Slide the elastomer onto the bollard pipe and insert the pipe into the adapter.
  7. Secure the bollard pipe to the adapter using the set screws, tightening them to a torque specification of 50 ft-lb or 68 n-m.
  8. The SlowStop Bollard System is now ready for use.

Note: Do not concrete fill the bollard as the system is designed for the pipe to be the first point of bending.

Tools Required

  • Hammer Drill
  • 3/4” Hammer Drill Bit
  • Impact Wrench
  • 1-1/8” Impact Socket

Notes

  1. Assembly and installation should be performed by qualified personnel only.
  2. Installation to be performed in unbroken concrete only. Anchor holes should be 5” from any edge. Minimum 3000 PSI, 6” thick is recommended.
  3. Bollards must be properly sized for expected loads and speeds. Consult www.slowstop.com.
  4. Study Figure 1 to understand the arrangement of all parts.
  5. Pipe used must be as specified by SlowStop.®

Installation and Assembly

  1. Layout and mark final location using the base as a guide. Arrange so that two anchors will be facing the most likely direction of impact , as in Figure 2). Remove base.
    Note: Keep the bollard 0.32 x height away from any solid object to allow for tilting.

  2. Place the elastomer in the center of the location and place adapter on top of elastomer. Align the set-screws facing the most likely direction of impact, as in Figure 2.)IMPACT-recovery-Slowstop-5-Inch-Storefront-Bollards-fig 4

  3. Fit base over the adapter so that it rests on the adapter flange and covers the elastomer.

  4. Using the base as a guide, drill six 3/4” holes at least 5-1/2” deep. Clean out the concrete dust out of the holes.

Note: Do not concrete fill the bollard. The system is designed for the pipe to be the first point of bending.
