Medline Single Use Electrosurgical Pencils

Medline Electrosurgical pencils are medical devices that are intended for monopolar cutting and coagulation with various types of HF electrosurgical generators. They are designed to accept standard electrodes with a 2.4mm (3/32) diameter shaft. These pencils are for single use only and should be disposed of after each use.

The rated voltage for Medline Single Use Electrosurgical Pencils is 5kVp.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Inspect the package before opening to ensure it has not been damaged during shipping or storage. If the package is damaged, do not use the product and contact the supplier.
  2. Open the package and remove the Medline Single Use Electrosurgical Pencil.
  3. Attach the electrode with a 2.4mm (3/32) diameter shaft to the pencil.
  4. Connect the pencil to the electrosurgical generator according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  5. Verify that the electrosurgical generator is functioning correctly before using the pencil.
  6. Use the Medline Single Use Electrosurgical Pencil for monopolar cutting or coagulation as needed.
  7. After use, dispose of the Medline Single Use Electrosurgical Pencil in accordance with local regulations.

Note: Do not reuse or re-sterilize the Medline Single Use Electrosurgical Pencil. Doing so may result in injury or infection.

MEDLINE SINGLE USE ELECTROSURGICAL PENCILS

Medline Electrosurgical pencils are intended for monopolar cutting and coagulation with various types of HF electrosurgical generators. They are designed to accept standard electrodes with a 2.4mm (3/32”) diameter shaft.

HOW TO USE

  • Use aseptic techniques when you remove the product from its packaging.
  • Remove tip protection from electrode. Check that the electrode is firmly sealed in the hand piece. If you change the electrode, make sure that it is inserted fully into the hand piece.
  • Plug in to the HF generator.
  • The design and construction of this product does not allow its reuse.
  • Always refer to the instruction manual of the HF generator and to its general information about electrosurgical procedures.

SAFETY INSTRUCTION WARNING

  • Sterility is only guaranteed unless package is damaged or seal is broken. DO NOT RESTERILIZE.
  • Do not use after expiration date indicated on the packaging.
  • Broken cable may cause arcing or patient burns.
  • Check instrument before use. Do not use damaged pencils or electrodes.
  • Do not use in the presence of flammable or explosive materials.
  • Place the instrument away from the patient when not in use.
  • The design and construction of this product does not allow its reuse.
  • Always refer to the instruction manual of the HF generator and to its general information about electrosurgical procedures.
  • Medline explicitly warns against making any changes to the instru-ment. Any such change will exempt Medline from all liability.
  • Always place the active Electrode in a clean, dry, insulated safety holster when not in use.
  • Electrosurgical accessories may cause fire or burn if placed close to or in contact with flammable materials such as gauze or surgical drapes. Place away from the patient and drapes.
  • Activate the electrosurgical unit only after vapors from skin prep solutions and tinctures have dissipated.
  • ELECTRICAL CAPACITY: The rated voltage is 5kVp.
