APP SETUP
To complete the app setup, your Smart Chime must first be installed. If you have not yet installed the Smart Chime, please refer to the manual inside the Smart Chime box and follow the steps provided.
Only after the Smart Chime has been installed and added to your account, follow the steps below:

  2. Reattach the battery onto the camera’s body -first position the battery as shown to the right and then slide upwards.

    • A. The Wireless Doorbell Camera will boot up, and the LED will start flashing red.
If the LED doesn’t start flashing, refer to page 19 to charge the battery.
      B. When the doorbell’s LED stops flashing red, the boot-up process is complete.
  3. Grab your phone and log into the Frontpoint app on your mobile phone, selecting “Keep me Logged In” until setup is complete.

  4. Tap on the navigation menu ( ) in the corner of the Frontpoint app.

    • A. Select “Add Device”
    • B. Select “Doorbell Camera”
    • C. Select “ADC-VDB780B”
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to add the Wireless Doorbell Camera to your account.

    • A. The first step will ask you to hold down the Doorbell button for 45+ seconds until
it finishes flashing blue and begins flashing white- don’t forget this step!
If the button LED won’t begin flashing blue, charge the battery as per page 19.
    • B. When selecting the final network for your Wireless Doorbell Camera after connecting to ADC-VDB780B (XX:XX:XX), choose “Chime (XX:XX:XX)” listed at the top of the page under “Access Points”.
(The X’s are indicative of the device’s unique MAC address and will vary.)
*Do not copy Wi-fi from another camera device and do not select your home Wi-Fi network- either of these will result in a failure.
    • C. When the doorbell button LED turns solid green, the Wireless Doorbell Camera has successfully connected to the Smart Chime!

Extra Tips For App Setup
If you have any questions during the app setup, refer to this section for additional guidance.

  • To watch the app setup being completed, scan the QR code below or visit
    https://redirect.frontpointsecurity.com/wirelessdbsetupvideo

  • After connecting to the network that resembles ADC-VDB780B (XX:XX:XX), you may be directed to a “Wi-Fi Status” page- dependent on your mobile phone. (The absence of this page does not indicate a problem.) Depending on your phone type, refer to the appropriate section below:

    • A. iOS device: Tap “Cancel” and select “use without internet” to remain connected to the doorbell’s network. Return to the Frontpoint app to finish the setup.
    • B. Android device: Tap the three dots in the top right corner and select “Use this network as is” to remain connected to the temporary network. Return to the Frontpoint app to finish the setup.
    • When firmware updates are available, your camera will update automatically but it may take an additional 15 minutes to complete setup. The progress bar will not move along steadily- each update will take a variable amount of time.
    • If your installation fails, press “Retry”- the firmware updates may have caused the installation process to time-out. “Restart” will ask you to start again from the beginning.
    • A failure could also be caused if earlier steps were not successful:
    • Double check that the Smart Chime is listed within “Manage Devices” in the app. If not, please finish setting up the Smart Chime.
    • Make sure you select the “Chime (XX:XX:XX)” network after connecting to the “ADC-VDB780B (XX:XX:XX)” network- not your home network.

INSTALLATION

Installation will consist of three parts:

  1. Choosing your field of view.
  2. Mounting the Standard Mounting Bracket (and Optional Mounting Wedge, if needed).
  3. Attaching the Wireless Doorbell Camera.

In addition to the components included in the box, you will need a power drill, a drill bit (either 1/4″ or 1/8”, explained below), and pencil. If you also have a level and measuring tape, it will help.
Choosing Your Field Of View

  1. Choose a mounting location for your Wireless Doorbell Camera- our security experts recommend the side of a door frame. Because this camera is battery-powered, an existing doorbell is not necessary.
    • For most doorways, a position approximately 4 feet above the ground provides the best field of view.
  2. Once you’ve chosen your preferred placement, hold the Wireless Doorbell Camera against the Standard Mounting Bracket in the desired location, while opening the Frontpoint app.
    • Check the Live View of the Wireless Doorbell Camera to ensure you are satisfied with the field of view. Make sure you can see low enough for where packages would be placed and high enough for where faces would be seen.
    • To check Live View, tap “Doorbell Camera” in the navigation menu () of the Frontpoint app and tap the play button in the video window to view live video.
  3. Reposition your Wireless Doorbell Camera as needed until you are satisfied with the field of view.
    • If your doorway is on top of steps or you otherwise need to angle the camera a bit more downwards, try holding the Optional Mounting Wedge behind the camera instead of the bracket to see if that improves the view.
  4. Once settled on a location and whether you’ll be using the Optional Mounting Wedge, proceed to the next step.

Mounting The Standard Mounting Bracket (And Optional Mounting Wedge)
To complete installation for the Standard Mounting Bracket without the use of the Optional Mounting Wedge (recommended for most homes), please follow the instructions below. For those using the Optional Mounting Wedge, please skip to the following section (page 12).

No-Wedge Setup:

  1. Hold the Standard Mounting Bracket at the predetermined location. If possible, use a level to confirm the mount is parallel with the ground.

    • a. Use a pencil to mark where the two screws will go, indicated in the image to the right.
    • b. Once marked, you can set aside the Standard Mounting Bracket until Step 4.
  2. Prepare your power drill and drill into each of the 2 marked locations on the wall, depending on your mounting surface:

    • a. If screwing into drywall or brick, it’s recommended to use a 1/4” drill bit.
    • b. If screwing into wood, use a 1/8” drill bit.
Not sure which to use? Use the 1/4” drill bit.
  3. Insert the included anchors into the screw holes if you used a 1/4” drill bit. If you used the smaller drill bit, the anchors will not be necessary.

  4. Position the Standard Mounting Bracket so its 2 holes align with the 2 screw holes.

  5. Use your power drill to screw in the included screws, fastening the Standard Mounting Bracket to the wall.

Optional Wedge Setup:

  1. Hold the Optional Mounting Wedge at the predetermined location. If possible, use a level to ensure the mount is parallel with the ground.

    • a. Use a pencil to mark where the two screws will go, indicated in the image below.
    • b. Once marked, you can set aside the Optional Mounting Wedge until Step 4.
  2. Prepare your power drill and drill into each of the 2 marked locations on the wall, depending on your munting surface:

  4. Position the Optional Mounting Wedge so its 2 holes align with the 2 screw holes.

  5. Use your power drill to screw in the included screws, fastening the Optional Mounting Wedge to the wall.

  6. Grab the Standard Mounting Bracket and 4 mini screws.

  7. Position the Standard Mounting Bracket over the Optional Mounting Wedge so the four holes line up.

  8. Screw in each of the 4 mini screws by hand until secure.
