Introduction

Congratulations on purchasing your new wet/dry vacuum cleaner (hereafter referred to as appliance or electric tool).
During production, this equipment has been checked for quality and subjected to a final inspection. The functionality of your equipment is therefore guaranteed. In some cases, residual amounts of water may be present on or in the device or in hose lines. This is not a flaw or a defect and is no cause for concern.

The operating instructions constitute part of this product. They contain important information on safety, use and disposal.
Before using the product, familiarise yourself with all of the operating and safety instructions. Use the product only as described and for the applications specified. Keep this manual safely and in the event that the product is passed on, hand over all documents to the third party.

Intended Use

The appliance is intended for wet and dry vacuum cleaning in domestic settings, such as in the home, hobby room, car or garage. The appliance can also be used as a blower or to suction up water.
The suction of flammable, explosive or hazardous substances is prohibited. Any other use that is not expressly permitted in this instruction manual may pose a serious hazard to the user and result in damage to the appliance. The operator or user of the appliance is responsible for any accidents or personal injury and/or material damage to third parties or their property. The device is intended to be used by do-it-yourselfers. It was not designed for heavy commercial use. The warranty is void in the case of commercial use. The manufacturer is not liable for damage caused by improper use or incorrect operation.

General Description

The illustration of the principal functioning parts can be found  on the front and back foldout pages.

Unpack the appliance and check that everything is present. Dispose of the packaging material properly. The appliance is delivered with a motor head (1) attached. To remove the motor head and take out the accessories, open the fastening clips (8).

Description of functions

The appliance is fitted with a stainless steel dirt container. The rollers provide good maneuverability of the appliance. In case of wet suction, the suction airflow is switched off by a float when the dirt container is full. The appliance also features a blow function.
Please refer to the descriptions below for information on how the operating elements work.

Electrical devices must not be disposed of with domestic waste.

Symbol For cold ash only! There is a risk of fi re if the suction material exceeds a temperature of 40°C (104°F)! “Cold ash” is ash that has cooled down for a sufficient amount of time and no longer contains any embers. This can be determined by combing the ashes with a metal tool before using the device. There will no longer be noticeable heat radiating from the cold ash.

General safety information for the wet/dry vacuum cleaner

WARNING! Electric shock – observe the following basic safety measures:

This is how to avoid accidents and injuries:

  • Never leave the device unattended at the workplace when it is ready for use.

  • Do not allow the vacuum to come into contact with people or animals.

  • While in operation, never aim the suction hose and nozzles at yourself or other people; particularly not eyes or ears. There is a risk of injury.

  • Do not vacuum hot, glowing, flammable, explosive or hazardous substances. These include hot ashes, petrol, solvents, acids or alkalis amongst others. Risk of fi re and injury.

  • The nozzles and suction hose must not be at the same height as your head while working.
    There is a risk of injury.

  • The dust container must be emptied and cleaned before and after each use.

  • Do not use any other vacuum cleaner to suck up ash.

  • Do not place the ash vacuum cleaner on combustible or polymer surfaces, including carpets and vinyl tiles.

This is how to avoid accidents and injuries from an electric shock:

  • Check the power line and extension cable for damage and ageing prior to each use. Do not use the appliance if the cable is damaged or worn.
  • Make sure that the rated voltage matches the details on the type plate.
  • Connect the appliance to a socket with a fuse of at least 16 A.
  • Connect the appliance to a socket with a residual current device (RCD) with a tripping current of not more than 30 mA.
  • Ensure that the power line does not become damage by being pulled over sharp edges, becoming trapped or by pulling on the line.
  • Never use the power line to pull the plug out of the socket or to pull the appliance. Protect the power line from heat, oil and sharp edges.
  • Switch the appliance off and unplug the power chord:
    • when you are not using the device or when you are transporting or leaving it unattended;
    • when you inspect the machine, clean it or remove blockages;
    • when you perform cleaning or maintenance work, or swap accessories;
    • if the connection cable is damaged or entangled,
    • after contact with foreign bodies or if abnormal vibration occurs
  • If the mains connection cable of this appliance is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or their customer service or by a similarly qualified person in order to avoid hazards.

This is how to avoid damage to the appliance and possible personal injuries resulting from this:

  • Make sure before use that the appliance is properly assembled and that the filters are in the correct position.
  • Do not perform vacuuming without filters. The device could become damaged.
  • Only use original spare parts and accessories (see “Spare Parts/Accessories”), which are supplied and recommended by our service centre. Using externally produced parts results in the immediate loss of the warranty claim.
  • Only have repairs performed by customer service centres authorised by us.
  • Comply with the appliance’s cleaning and maintenance instructions.
  • Store the device in a dry place and out of reach of children.

B Assembly

NOTE! The appliance is delivered with a motor head (1) attached. To remove the motor head, open the fastening clips (8).

  1. Remove the mains plug.

  2. Place the feet (7) into the receptors on the dirt container (6).

  3. Insert the desired filter if it is not premounted:
    – Foam filter for wet suction ( A 15),
    – Textile filter bag ( A 16) for dry suction,
    – Paper filter bag ( A 17).
    Never perform vacuuming without a filter!

  4. After changing filter: Place the motor head (1) onto the dirt container (6) and lock it into place using the fastening clips (8).

  5. Attach the suction hose (13) and accessories.

  1. Fully unwind the suction hose (13) before commencing work.
  2. Prepare the appliance for the desired function.
  3. Insert the mains plug of the appliance into a wall socket.

Switching on

  1. Move the on/off switch (3) into position “I”.

Switching off

  1. Move the on/off switch (3) into position “O”.
  2. Pull the appliance’s mains plug out of the wall socket if you are leaving the appliance unattended or if you have finished working.
Inserting the nozzles

Floor nozzle (18) with insert attachment (19):
For wet and dry vacuuming of smooth surfaces and carpeted floors.

NOTE! Risk of damage! Be aware that sensitive surfaces may be scratched if working without the insert attachment.

Floor nozzle (18) without insert attachment (19):
For wet and dry vacuuming of carpeted floors, for removing stubborn dirt.

Removing the insert attachment

Push the tabs on the right and left of the floor nozzle (18) and remove the insert attachment (19).

Crevice nozzle (20):
For vacuuming joints, corners and radiators.

C Wet suctioning

Wet suctioning

  1. Place the foam filter (15) onto the filter basket (21) on the motor head (1).
    To prevent the foam filter from tearing:
    – Only insert a dry filter;
    – Before inserting, twist the edge of the filter slightly and then roll it back.

  2. WARNING! Electric shock! Never reach into the water to be suctioned up.
    NOTE! Risk of damage! Turn off the appliance immediately if foam or liquid leaks out.
    Suctioning up (draining): place the suction hose (13) on the handgrip section (14) into the water tank and suction up the water.
    NOTE! If the dirt container is full, a float closes the suction opening and the suctioning process is stopped. Switch the appliance off and empty the dirt container.

  3. Empty the dirt container immediately after vacuuming as it is not designed to store liquids (see “Cleaning/Maintenance”).

NOTE! The appliance comes fitted with the textile filter bag (16). A folded filter, which can be used instead of the textile filter included in delivery, is optionally available (see “Spare parts/accessories”).

  1. Pull the textile filter bag (16) completely over the filter basket (21). See arrow and dotted line in Fig. D .

NOTE! We recommend also using the paper filter bag to ensure the textile filter bag does not become clogged too quickly.

  1. Ensure that the textile filter bag is inserted.
  2. Pull the paper filter bag (17) upwards and over the internal suction fitting (22) inside the direct container ( A 6). The sealing ring (23) on the filter bag opening must fully surround the connector (24) on the suction fitting.
Vacuuming fine dust

Certain suction processes (e.g. sanding paints and varnishes, milling or drilling walls, grinding or drilling hard wood) can pose a risk due to hazardous dust. We recommend using the following optional filter combination for fi ne dust. For filters not included in delivery, see “Spare parts/ Accessories”:

  • Folded filter instead of the textile filter bag ( 16) included in the scope of delivery.
  • Fine dust filter bag made of fleece instead of the paper filter bag ( 17) included in the scope of delivery.

Preparing the blowing function

  1. Remove all filters.
  2. Push the suction hose (13) into the blower connection (11) until it locks in place.

Restoring the suction function

  1. Press the catch (13a) and pull the suction hose (13) out.
  2. Push the suction hose (13) into the suction connection ( A 5) until it locks in place.
  3. Insert a filter.

Cleaning and Servicing

WARNING! Electric shock! Protect yourself when performing maintenance or cleaning work. Turn off the appliance. Pull out the mains plug.

You should have any repair and maintenance work that is not described in these instructions carried out by our Service Centre. Only use original replacement parts.

Cleaning

NOTE! Risk of damage! Improper cleaning can damage the appliance. Never spray down the appliance with water. Do not use any abrasive cleaning agents or solvents.

  1. Empty the dirt container ( A 6) after every use. To fully empty the dirt container, open the fastening clips (8) and pour the residual liquid out.
    2. Clean the dirt container ( A 6) with a damp cloth.
    3. Wash the foam filter (15) with warm water and soap and let it dry.
    4. Tap out the contents of the textile filter bag ( A 16). If needed, wash it with warm water and soap and let it dry.
    5. Tap the optionally available folded filter and clean it with a brush or handbrush.
    6. When full, replace the paper filter bag ( A 17) (for reordering, see “Spare parts/accessories”).
Maintenance

The device is maintenance free.

F Storage

Storage

  1. Wind the mains connection cable (9) around the retaining brackets (25) on the back of the appliance. Fix the power cable using the cable clip ( A 10).
  2. Insert the disassembled suction pipes (12) into the accessory holders on the feet (7).
  3. The accessory holders on the feet (7) are used to store the accessory parts.
  4. Store the device in a dry place and out of reach of children.

Disposal/Environmental Protection

Be environmentally friendly. Return the tool, accessories and packaging to a recycling centre when you have finished with them.

Machines must not be disposed of with household refuse.
Take the machine to a recycling point. The waste plastic and metal parts can be separated, accurately graded and passed on for recycling. Contact our Service Centre for more details. Defective units returned to us will be disposed of for free.

Dear Customer,
This equipment is provided with a 3-year guarantee from the date of purchase. In case of defects, you have statutory rights against the seller of the product. These statutory rights are not restricted by our guarantee presented below.

Terms of Guarantee
The term of the guarantee begins on the date of purchase. Please retain the original receipt. This document is required as proof of purchase.
If a material or manufacturing defect occurs within three years of the date of purchase of this product, we will repair or replace – at our choice – the product for you free of charge. This guarantee requires the defective equipment and proof of purchase to be presented within the three-year period with a brief written description of what constitutes the defect and when it occurred.
If the defect is covered by our guarantee, you will receive either the repaired product or a new product. No new guarantee period begins on repair or replacement of the product.

Guarantee Period and Statutory Claims for Defects
The guarantee period is not extended by the guarantee service. This also applies for replaced or repaired parts. Any damages and defects already present at the time of purchase must be reported immediately after unpacking. Repairs arising after expiry of the guarantee period are chargeable.

Guarantee Cover
The equipment has been carefully produced in accordance with strict quality guidelines and conscientiously checked prior to delivery.

The guarantee applies for all material and manufacturing defects. This guarantee does not extend to cover product parts that are subject to normal wear and may therefore be considered as wearing parts (e.g. filters or attachments) or to cover damage to breakable parts (e.g. switches).
This guarantee shall be invalid if the product has been damaged, used incorrectly or not maintained. Precise adherence to all of the instructions specified in the operating manual is required for proper use of the product. Intended uses and actions against which the operating manual advises or warns must be categorically avoided. The product is designed only for private and not commercial use. The guarantee will be invalidated in case of misuse or improper handling, use of force, or interventions not undertaken by our authorised service branch.

  • Please have the receipt and identify cation number (IAN 497446_2204) ready as proof of purchase for all enquiries.
  • Please fi nd the item number on the rating plate.
  • Should functional errors or other defects occur, please initially contact the service department specified below by telephone or by e-mail. You will then receive further information on the processing of your complaint.
  • After consultation with our customer service, a product recorded as defective can be sent postage paid to the service address communicated to you, with the proof of purchase (receipt) and specification of what constitutes the defect and when it occurred. In order to avoid acceptance problems and additional costs, please be sure to use only the address communicated to you. Ensure that the consignment is not sent carriage forward or by bulky goods, express or other special freight. Please send the equipment Inc. all accessories supplied at the time of purchase and ensure adequate, safe transport packaging.

Repair Service

For a charge, repairs not covered by the   guarantee can be carried out by our service branch, which will be happy to issue a cost estimate for you.
We can handle only equipment that has been sent with adequate packaging and postage.
Attention: Please send your equipment to our service branch in clean condition and with an indication of the defect.
Equipment sent carriage forward or by bulky goods, express or other special freight will not be accepted.
We will dispose of your defective devices free of charge when you send them to us.
