MOOG-INFORNG Small Volume Enteral Feeding Pump

Product Overview

The Infinity Orange is an enteral feeding pump designed for both
hospital and alternate site care use. It is durable,
water-resistant, and easily portable. The pump’s size, weight,
accuracy, and portability promote and support health-improving
physical activity.

Indications for Use

The Infinity Orange enteral feeding pump is a rotary peristaltic
pump designed to deliver programmed doses of enteral nutrition
solutions at selectable rates.

List of Warnings and Cautions

It is important to read and follow all warnings and cautions
provided in the operator’s manual to avoid harm to the operator or
patient. Healthcare personnel providing training to lay users
should also review all warnings and cautions with the lay user. In
case of any change in the performance of the pump, contact customer
service immediately.

Warnings

Use ONLY feeding solutions prescribed by a responsible
physician, registered dietitian, registered nurse, or other
licensed practitioner to avoid harm to the patient.
Use ONLY Infinity brand disposable sets to ensure proper fluid
delivery. Other sets may not deliver the correct dose, may allow
dangerous free-flow conditions, and may generate hazardous fluid
pressures that could activate occlusion alarms at unpredictable
pressures.
Low flow rates combined with high dose settings may exceed the
life of the disposable set. The disposable bag and screw cap sets
must be replaced every 24 hours, and the spike sets must be
replaced every 48 hours (max 1.5 L) to maintain delivery accuracy,
allow proper air and occlusion sensing, and prevent growth of
bacteria. DO NOT PROGRAM RATE AND DOSE COMBINATIONS THAT EXCEED A
24 HOUR FEED REGIMEN FOR THE DISPOSABLE BAG AND SCREW CAP SETS OR A
48 HOUR FEED REGIMEN FOR THE SPIKE SETS.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
The Infinity® Orange® is a rotary peristaltic enteral feeding pump designed to deliver programmed doses of enteral nutrition solutions at selectable rates. It is easy to use with a simple user interface and keypad. Moog technology allows an accuracy rate of +/- 5% and the ability to safely operate in any orientation. The Infinity Orange system includes a complete line of delivery sets that are made with materials that do not contain the plasticizer DEHP or natural rubber latex. All Infinity delivery sets feature automatic free-flow protection.
The Infinity Orange is designed for both hospital and alternate site care use. It is durable, water resistant, and easily carried in a Moog carry pack. The Infinity Orange’s size, weight, accuracy, and portability promote and support health improving physical activity.
Enteral feeding is considered a medical procedure and following the instructions for use in the Operator Manual is important for the pump to operate normally.

Be sure to carefully read the following warnings and cautions. Failure to review all the warnings and cautions can cause harm to the operator or patient. Healthcare personnel who provide training to lay users should be sure to review all the warning and cautions with the lay user. If there is a change in the performance of the pump, contact customer service.
WARNINGS
4 Use ONLY feeding solutions prescribed by the responsible physician, registered dietitian, registered nurse, or other licensed practitioner. Failure to do so may result in harm to the patient.
4 Use ONLY Infinity brand disposable sets to ensure proper fluid delivery. Others will not deliver the correct dose, may allow dangerous free-flow conditions, and may generate hazardous fluid pressures which may activate occlusion alarms at unpredictable pressures.
4 Low flow rates, combined with high dose settings may exceed the life of the disposable set. 4 The battery capacity is an approximation. If you are unsure that enough capacity remains for your intended use, recharge it. Failure to do so may result in delayed or under-delivered therapy.
4 To avoid electrical shock, never clean pump with charger plugged into an outlet or when pump is on.
4 To avoid electrical shock, make sure the Infinity AC Adapter/Charger is completely dry before plugging into an electrical outlet.
4 Do not use Infinity Orange enteral feeding pump for delivery of non-enteral solutions. Serious injury may result.
4 Proper operation of pump requires door to be closed and latched. Make sure door is closed and latched when motor is running.

4 If an error occurs (ER01 – ER99 will appear in display), check all settings and volume counters and verify before starting a feeding. Failure to do so may result in delayed or under-delivered therapy.
4 No modification of this equipment is allowed including the pump, disposable sets, and accessories. Modification can result in delayed therapy, over or under delivery, electrocution, injury, or death.
4 Prior to starting the pump, confirm rate, dose, and food type are programmed as prescribed to avoid an unsafe feeding condition.
4 Device contains small parts. Dispose of or store connector cap when not in use to avoid choking hazard for children under 3 years.
4 Avoid leaving tubing and cords where infants, children, or those deemed at high risk for medical line entanglement, can become entangled. Be aware that if these items become wrapped around a patient’s neck, there is an increased risk of strangulation or death. Caregivers of patients who are at risk for entanglement should discuss with their health care provider how to properly manage their lines and properly monitor patients based on their needs while in use.

CAUTIONS
4 Federal law (U.S.A.) restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a physician, registered dietitian, registered nurse, or other licensed practitioner.
4 Dispose of the Infinity Pump, Infinity Orange Pump and Disposable Sets properly, as required by local law.
4 If any leaks are detected in the disposable set, stop pump operation and disconnect set from patient and replace with a new disposable set. Failure to do so may result in under-delivered therapy.
4 Care should be used when manually priming delivery set to ensure cassette is not damaged by excess force.
4 Do not overload carry packs with personal items. Pump function may be affected by kinked or pinched tubing and/or unintentional button presses.
4 The Infinity Orange uses an optical air-in-line sensor to detect air in the tubing as it passes through the pump, causing the pump to alarm if feeding is inadvertently interrupted or when feeding is complete. It is important to keep this sensor free of debris including spilled fluids or food that may adhere to the sensor and prevent proper detection of air in the tubing.
The clinician and caregiver should be trained regarding the care, use, and maintenance of the Infinity Orange pump and accessories, including proper cleaning of the area around the optical air-in-line sensor.
4 Use ONLY commercially available pre-packed or commercially prepared feeding solutions formulated for use with a feeding pump that are prescribed by a licensed health care provider or dietitian.
4 DO NOT USE HOMEMADE BLENDERIZED OR LIQUIDIZED FOODS, OR OTHER NON- PRESCRIBED, NON-COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE FEEDING SOLUTIONS. Use of homemade blenderized or other non-prescribed feeding solutions may cause sticky solids which could cause an obstruction of the optical sensor. It is recommended that all users clean and maintain the pump and optical sensors according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
4 The use of commercially available blenderized formula (HCPCS Code: B4149) can impact pump accuracy and performance. It is recommended to follow the formula manufacture guidelines for pump use.

Keypad
Press ON/OFF key for 1.5 seconds to either turn Infinity Orange on or off.

Press and hold PRIME key to rapidly fill disposable set with fluid. Release key to stop.
Press RUN/PAUSE key to start or pause pump, or to clear an alarm.

Press FOOD TYPE key to display and select type of food to be delivered (formula or human milk).

Press VOL/TOTAL key once to display volume delivered for current feeding. Press key again to display total cumulative volume delivered in all feed cycles since total volume was last cleared.
Press RATE/DOSE key to transition between rate and dose settings, and to confirm settings.

Press CLEAR key to reset displayed function to its minimum value. Press and hold for three seconds to clear rate, dose, and volume delivered to minimum values at the same time.
Press + key to increase displayed feed function. Press and hold key to increase value rapidly.

Press – key to decrease displayed feed function. Press and hold key to decrease value rapidly.
NOTE: The following keys only function when pump is in pause mode: PRIME, CLEAR, +, and -.

1. PUMP COMPONENTS
Display
The display includes large alphanumeric characters, as well as smaller symbols and words. All segments and symbols on the display are shown in Figure 1-4.
Settings and messages are displayed in large alphanumeric characters (Figure 1-5).
When the large alphanumeric characters display numbers, one of the smaller words below the characters indicates which function is being displayed (Figure 1-6).
The run symbol indicates pump is running (Figure 1-7).
The wall plug symbol indicates the charger is plugged in and connected to a live power outlet. The battery symbol indicates pump is running on battery power only. The fuel gauge symbol indicates how much battery charge remains (Figure 1-8).
NOTE: When operating on A/C power the display light will remain on. When operating on battery power the display light will automatically turn off 10 seconds after the last key is pressed. If you would prefer the light to turn off when connected to an outlet, you can change the pump light setting to OFF. See the User Preference Settings section (Page 16) for instructions to change this setting.

Brief instructions for operation of pump as well as a brief explanation of each alarm message which pump may communicate are printed on the label attached to pump. These are not intended to be used in place of the Operator’s Manual. They are simply a quick reference guide. Please read the Operator’s Manual before operating the Infinity Orange.
The bag symbol is printed on pump door over port where upstream tubing enters pump.

EN 60601-1 Type BF degree of protection against electrical shock. No electrical connection to patient. Drop from any angle from height of 3 feet shall not damage pump operation.

2. DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Recommendation for First Use: Since battery may not be fully charged when pump is first received, it is recommended that battery be charged for 6 hours prior to operating on battery power (see Page 15 for additional information).
Priming and Loading the Disposable Set
Step 1:
4 If you are using the Infinity Safety Screw Spike Set with a vented bottle or pre-filled bag: Remove protective cover from tip, then insert tip into formula exit port of container. If using the Infinity Safety Screw Spike Set, secure the tip by tightly screwing threaded components together. (Figure 2-1).
4 If you are using the 100ml, 500ml, or 1200ml disposable set: Hold bag upright and pour in feeding solution (Figure 2-2). Close cap securely.
4 If you are using the Screw Cap delivery set: Fill a feeding bottle/container with a 40 mm opening and secure it to the screw cap. Place the bottle/container into the suspension bag and secure the bag to an IV pole (Figure 2-3).
NOTE: Blenderized or aggressively mixed solutions may have foam. If using this type of solution, allow it to sit for 10 to 15 minutes before pouring into bag. This will reduce the chance of an alarm due to air in the tubing.
Step 2: Remove protective cover from transitional stepped connector. If using pole clamp, protective cover may be placed in the groove on back of clamp (Figure 2-4).
NOTE: If set is to be used with a carry pack, all air must be removed from bag and tubing. Continue to step 3 for instructions on removing air. If set is to be hung above pump, i.e. on an IV pole, you may skip to step 4.

2. DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Step 3: Turn bag upside down and gently squeeze. Tilt bag as needed to keep air at tubing port (Figure 2-5).

Step 4: Gently pinch orange colored tubing below” “symbol. Hold this position until air is removed from tubing. Gently squeeze bag at same time to assist fluid flow. If fluid does not flow, pinch pressure may be too strong. (Figure 2-6).

built-in anti free-flow valve.

By pinching tubing gently,

the tubing moves away

from the in-line occluder allowing fluid to flow (Figure 2-7). It is important to only

pinch the tubing below the ” ” symbol to avoid damaging the in-line occluder.

NOTE: Be extremely careful to pinch tubing using only the flat, soft part of your finger. Do not use fingernails when pinching tubing; doing so may puncture the delivery set (Figure 2-8). If you suspect that the delivery set has been punctured, please discard and use a new set

NOTE: Air may also be removed from tubing using the pump priming feature. See step 7 for instructions on using the pump priming feature.

Step 5: Loop silicone tubing around pump wheel stretching lightly. Place cassette into pump (Figure 2-9). Close pump door (Figure 2-10).

NOTE: See pages 31-32 for pump use with a backpack.

Step 6: Press and hold ON/OFF key for 1.5 seconds to turn pump on. While pump runs through a self test, display will light and an audible alarm will sound as pump displays the nine digit serial number three digits at a time for one second each. The display will then show the letter `N’ followed by a number, which is the software revision.

Next, all segments of display will be shown for 2 seconds. Verify all display segments and symbols are active.

The self test is complete and pump will then display last programmed rate and will be in pause mode.

If any air is still in the tubing, continue to Step 7 to use pump prime feature.

Step 7: Press and hold PRIME key. Alarm will sound once and pump will begin pumping at an approximate rate of 360 ml/hr. Display will read “TO STOP LET GO” (Figure 2-11). Once all air is removed from tubing, release key. Pump will stop, display will revert to last programmed rate, and pump will be in pause mode.

Operating the Pump A Single Feeding Example

CAUTION: Please refer to pages vi for additional usage considerations.

If you want to deliver 50 ml of enteral feeding solution at a rate of 100 ml/hr and then stop the pump:

Step 1: Prepare the disposable set with enteral feeding solution as described in the Priming and Loading the Disposable Set instructions (Page 7).

Step 2: Hang feeding bag or container so that the bottom of bag is at or above the level of the pump door (refer to page 35).

OR – If an Infinity brand carry pack is to be used, load pump and feeding bag into the proper compartments, securing pump, bag and tubing with the pack’s straps (Page 31).

Step 3: Turn pump on by pressing the ON/OFF key. After running the self test, display will show last programmed rate.

Step 4: Press the + or – key to change the rate to 100 ml/hr. Hold down either key to change rapidly (Figure 2-12).

Step 5: Press the RATE/DOSE key to display dose. Press the + or – key until a dose of 50 ml is displayed (Figure 2-13).

Step 6 Confirm food type to be delivered (formula or human milk) before starting pump by pressing the FOOD TYPE key. Press the + or – key to change between formula and human milk.

Step 7 Connect end of disposable set to the patient’s enteral feeding tube (Figure 2-14).
Step 8 Press the RUN/PAUSE key. Pump will begin running. Display will show programmed rate and the arcs around the run symbol will rotate (Figure 2-15).

While pump is running, the following may be viewed by pressing the appropriate key: RATE, DOSE, and FOOD TYPE.
To view the amount delivered in the current feeding, press the VOL/TOTAL key (Figure 2-16). This counter will reset itself when the previously programmed dose has been completed and a new feeding is started, or if a feeding is interrupted and Rate or Dose is changed.

To view the amount delivered over the course of several feedings press the VOL/TOTAL key a second time. Display will read TOTL then the amount. This counter never resets itself. It can only be reset by the user (Figure 2-17).

While pump is running, the settings cannot be

changed and the Prime feature is disabled.

If you want to stop pump at any time, press the

RUN/PAUSE key. Display will show rate, and

pump will be in pause mode. Pump will save the memory of where it was in the

feeding before being paused. Or, turn pump off by pressing the ON/OFF key.

2. DIRECTIONS FOR USE

To restart pump when in paused mode, press the RUN/PAUSE key. The pump will restart the feeding at the point where it was paused.

NOTE: If pump is turned off and turned back on again, the volume delivered counter resets to 0 and food type resets to formula. Rate, dose, and food type must be confirmed before restarting the pump with a new feeding.

NOTE: ANY CHANGES TO PUMP SETTINGS (EXCEPT FOOD TYPE) DURING A FEEDING CYCLE WILL CAUSE PUMP TO START A NEW FEEDING; IT WILL NOT START WHERE IT LEFT OFF. RATE, DOSE, AND FOOD TYPE MUST BE CONFIRMED BY VIEWING EACH PARAMETER BEFORE RESTARTING THE PUMP.

Feeding Completion: When the dose has been completely delivered, pump will stop running, and display will read DOSE DONE. Pump will be in a pause mode until it is turned off or feeding is restarted. To clear DOSE DONE, press and hold the ON/OFF key for 1.5 seconds to turn pump off, or press the RUN/PAUSE key to put pump in pause mode. Adjustments to settings can be made at this time, or press the RUN/PAUSE key a second time to start another feeding using same rate, dose, and food type settings. Confirmation of rate, dose, and food type is required before beginning another feeding.

If you would prefer the alarm to sound when the dose is complete, you can change the pump dose complete alarm setting to BEEP WHEN DONE. See the User Preference Settings section (Page 16) for instructions to change this setting. When set to BEEP WHEN DONE, the pump will stop at the end of the feeding, beep intermittently, and display will read DOSE DONE (Figure 2-18). To silence alarm when the dose is complete, press and hold the ON/ OFF key for 1.5 seconds to turn pump off, or press the RUN/PAUSE key to put pump in pause mode.

Next Feeding: Turn pump on. Previous settings for rate and dose will be saved in memory. Confirm that rate, dose, and food type are correct by viewing each parameter, making necessary adjustments, and restarting the pump with a new feeding.
NOTE: If pump is turned off and turned back on again, the volume delivered counter resets to 0 and food type resets to formula. Rate, dose, and food type must be confirmed before restarting the pump with a new feeding. If dose and food type are not viewed prior to pressing the RUN/PAUSE key, pump will alarm and display CON FIRM DOSE AND FOOD TYPE.
NOTE: Rate, dose, and food type settings can be locked so that changes cannot be made. See the User Preference Settings section (Page 16) for instructions to change these settings.

The Battery Running on Battery Power

Infinity Orange will run for 24 hours at a rate of 125 ml/hr. A fully depleted battery takes approximately 6 hours to fully charge.

When pump is running on battery power the battery symbol will appear in the display (Figure 2-19).

The segments or blocks between E and F represent the fuel gauge of the battery. Each block represents approximately 6 hours of charge. When each bar is half spent, it will begin to flash, indicating approximately 3 hours of charge is left for that bar. When the last block is gone, the battery symbol will blink to indicate there is approximately 30 minutes of charge left. Display will flash LOW BATT every 3 seconds and pump will beep every 2 seconds to remind user of low battery condition. When battery is fully depleted pump will turn off automatically.

NOTE: The battery life is an approximation based on a fully charged battery and a flow rate of 125 ml/hr. Higher flow rates, high number of charge/ discharge cycles, or extreme temperatures usage will run the battery down faster, while lower flow rates will allow the battery to last longer. The expected service life of the battery is 2 to 5 years, depending on usage.

The Battery Charging the Battery
To charge the battery, insert plug from AC Adapter/Charger into port on the left side of pump. Plug charger into a wall outlet.
Pump will charge whether it is turned off or running.
When charger is plugged in and charging, the plug symbol will appear in the display and the fuel gauge will display four bars scrolling from E to F. This pattern continuously repeats while pump is charging (Figures 2-20a through 2-20e). When bars stop scrolling pump is done charging.
To check the status of battery during charging, disconnect charger from pump and turn on pump.
NOTE: If pump shuts down due to low battery, charging less than 10 minutes may result in an ER99 alarm. Fully charge battery if depleted (see page 20 to clear alarm).

User Preference Settings

There are six user preference settings. These settings can be changed to fit the user’s needs.

Alarm Volume: The alarm has two volumes, high or low. Pump default is low (Figure 2-21).

Settings Lock: This allows user to set a rate, dose, and food type and then lock those settings so they cannot be changed unintentionally. This will also lock the volume counters from being unintentionally cleared. Pump default is unlocked (Figure 2-22).

Dose Done: There are two settings for the DOSE DONE alarm: MUTE WHEN DONE or BEEP WHEN DONE. Pump default is MUTE WHEN DONE (Figure 2-23).

Backlight:

To conserve battery life, the backlight

will turn off automatically 10 seconds

after the last key has been pressed. However, while pump is connected to an A/C current, the backlight

Max Rate: Rate range is 0.1 ml/hr up to 300 ml/hr. However, the rate may be programmed to limit how high the rate can be set. The limits are 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 ml/hr. Rate is not limited if user preference setting is programmed to NO MAX. Pump default is NO MAX (Figure 2-25).
Max Dose: Dose range is 0.1 ml up to 3000 ml. However, the dose may be programmed to limit how high the dose can be set. The limits are 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, and 120 ml. Dose is not limited if use preference setting is programmed to NO MAX. Pump default is NO MAX (Figure 2-26).

Step 1: With pump turned off, press and hold for 1.5 seconds the + and the ON/ OFF keys at the same time. Pump will beep and then display the words BEEP HIGH or BEEP LOW. Press the + key to change to HIGH or the – key to change to LOW. Pump will give a triple beep when the + or – keys are pressed and setting will change. If setting is as desired, do not press either key.
Step 2: Press the PRIME key. Display will read UNLK (unlocked) or LOCK (locked). Press the + key to change to LOCK (locked) or the – key to change to UNLK (unlocked). If setting is as desired, do not press either key.

Step 5: Press the PRIME key again. Display will read MAX RATE followed by NONE or a maximum rate value such as 100 ml/hr. Press the + or – key to scroll between settings until the desired value is displayed. If setting is as desired, do not press either key.
Step 6: Press the PRIME key again. Display will read MAX DOSE followed by NONE or a maximum dose value such as 20 ml. Press the + or – key to scroll between settings until the desired value is displayed. If setting is as desired, do not press either key.
Step 7: Press the ON/OFF key to turn pump off. Setting changes will be saved automatically.
NOTE: Once user has changed the desired user preference setting, it is not necessary to view the remaining user preference settings. Each change will be automatically saved as it is made.
NOTE: Pump will turn off automatically after 2 minutes in the User Preference Settings if the user does not turn it off before then.

Alarms
ER01 – ER99 (Figure 3-1) Pump will sound a continuous beep and display will read ER followed by a two digit number or ERR followed by a letter to indicate a self-test has failed.
To clear alarm: Turn the pump off and then back on.
WARNING: If an error occurs (ER01 – ER99 will appear in display), all settings and volume counters should be checked and verified before starting a feeding.
LOAD SET (Figure 3-2) Pump will sound a dual tone beep repeatedly and display will read LOAD SET.
Why: This alarm will sound when pump attempted to run with the set improperly loaded or missing.
To correct the problem: Press the RUN/ PAUSE key to silence alarm and place pump in pause mode, then check the following:
1. An Infinity brand disposable set is loaded into pump properly and door is closed.
2. Check cassette receptacle for cleanliness, especially around pressure sensors. If cleaning is necessary, refer to CHAPTER 5 – CLEANING (Page 29).
LOW BATT (Figure 3-3) When 1 hour or less of battery life is available, display will flash LOW BATT every 3 seconds and pump will beep every 2 seconds to indicate battery is low and pump will soon stop running.
To correct the problem: Plug in AC Adapter/Charger to recharge battery.

NO FLOW IN (Figure 3-4) Pump will sound a dual tone beep repeatedly and display will read NO FLOW IN.
Why: This alarm has occurred because pump has detected blockage in the set between pump and bag.
To correct the problem: Press the RUN/ PAUSE key to silence alarm and place pump in pause mode, then check the following:
1. Check tubing for kinks or formula clumps. Correct blockage.
2. Check cassette receptacle for cleanliness, especially around the pressure sensors. If cleaning is necessary, refer to CHAPTER 5 – CLEANING (Page 29).
NO FLOW OUT (Figure 3-5) Pump will sound a dual tone beep repeatedly and display will read NO FLOW OUT.
Why: This alarm has occurred because pump has detected a blockage in the set between pump and patient.
To correct the problem: Press the RUN/ PAUSE key to silence alarm and place pump in pause mode, then check the following:
1. Check tubing for kinks or blockages. Remove kink or blockage.
2. Check cassette receptacle for cleanliness, especially around pressure sensors. If cleaning is necessary, refer to CHAPTER 5 – CLEANING (Page 29).
3. Back pressure from patient may also cause this alarm. Discuss with physician.

NO FOOD (Figure 3-6) Pump will sound a dual tone beep repeatedly and display will read NO FOOD.

Why: This alarm has occurred because pump has detected air in the tubing. It takes approximately 1 ml of air, which is approximately 5 inches (12.7 cm) in length entering the orange colored tubing to cause an alarm.

To correct the problem: Press the RUN/ PAUSE key to silence alarm and place pump in pause mode, then check the following:

1. Check feeding bag for food. If it is empty, refill bag and prime the set to remove air from the bag and tubing.

2. Check tubing for air bubbles. If bag is full but air is present in the tubing, disconnect set from patient, press and hold the PRIME key until air bubble has moved to the end of the tubing.

3. Check cassette receptacle for cleanliness, especially around the air sensor. If cleaning is necessary, refer to CHAPTER 5 – CLEANING (Page 29).

4. Check that an Infinity brand disposable set is loaded into pump properly and door is closed.

5. Check disposable set for worn tubing. If it is worn, replace with a new set.

NOTE: Blenderized or aggressively mixed solutions may have foam. Small foam bubbles may collect in the air sensor area and must be cleared in order to avoid a NO FOOD alarm. Allowing foamy solutions to sit for 10 to 15 minutes after mixing and prior to pouring into the bag will reduce the amount of foam.

PUSH RUN TO FEED (Figure 3-7) Pump will sound a dual tone beep repeatedly and display will read PUSH RUN TO FEED.

Why: This alarm has occurred because pump has been in pause mode for 2 minutes.

To correct the problem: Press the RUN/

PAUSE key to silence alarm and place pump in pause mode again. Program and use pump or press the ON/OFF key to turn it off.
SHUT DOOR (Figure 3-8) Pump will sound a dual tone beep repeatedly and display will read SHUT DOOR.
Why: This alarm has occurred because the pump door was opened while pump was running.
To correct the problem: Press the RUN/PAUSE key to silence alarm and place pump in pause mode then shut the door. Check door is latched securely. If door will not stay closed, check door latch and latch pocket on pump are not broken or cracked.
Messages

DOSE DONE (Figure 3-9) This message indicates a feeding dose has been delivered.
To clear pump: Either press the ON/OFF key to turn pump off, or press the RUN/PAUSE key to put pump in pause mode before starting another feeding.

Indications
TO STOP LET GO (Figure 3-10) When pressing and holding the PRIME key during manual prime, alarm will sound once, pump will begin pumping at an approximate rate of 360 ml/ hr and display will read “TO STOP LET GO”
To stop priming: Release the PRIME key.
MAX (Figure 3-11) If a rate/dose limit has been programmed in the User Preference Settings, pressing the + key when that limit has been met will cause the pump to display MAX.
For example, if the User Preference Setting for maximum rate has been programmed to 100 ml/ hr when the user attempts to program a rate higher than 100 ml/hr the rate will stop increasing and each time the + key is pressed the display will read MAX. When released, display will read 100 ml/hr.
To correct the problem: Change limit in User Preference Settings (Page 16).
CON FIRM DOSE AND FOOD TYPE (Figure 3-12) All feeding parameters must be confirmed before pump will begin running. This message will display if the RUN/PAUSE key is pressed prior to viewing rate, dose, and food type parameters.
To correct the problem: View rate, dose, and food type. Change settings where required by using the + or – key.
NOTE: The food type key allows users to select whether they are delivering formula (when selected, screen will read “FORM ULA”) or human milk (screen will read “HUMN MILK”). The pump automatically calibrates the air-in-line sensor sensitivity based on what food type setting is chosen.

Battery Doesn’t Hold Its Charge

Battery will lose its charge if stored for a long period of time or if stored at high temperatures (such as in an automobile during summer).

To correct the problem: Recharge the battery. If the problem continues during regular use, contact your healthcare provider for service.

Battery Doesn’t Charge

If the battery symbol and the E and F of the fuel gauge (Figure 3-13) are flashing while the pump is plugged in, the battery is not charging.

To correct the problem: Contact your healthcare provider for service.

Charger Installed but No Plug Symbol Visible If the plug symbol does not display after the AC Adapter/Charger is plugged into pump and a live power outlet, then charger is not charging battery.

To correct the problem: Check the following:

4 Charger is connected properly.

If this does not correct the problem, pump or charger may be damaged. Contact your healthcare provider for service.

5. CLEANING

WARNING: To avoid electrical shock, never clean pump or Infinity Orange AC Adapter/Charger with charger plugged into an outlet or pump turned on.

WARNING: Make sure the Infinity Orange AC Adapter/Charger is completely dry before plugging into an electrical outlet.

To clean the Infinity Orange enteral feeding pump: Pump may be cleaned with warm soapy water (standard dish soap) and a nonabrasive sponge or soft cloth. Use a cotton swab to clean pathways of cassette receptacle and to remove orange silicon residue from pump wheel roller pins.

OR – Apply one of the following solutions for approximately 10 minutes, then wipe pump clean with a damp cloth or sponge:

To clean the Carrying Packs: The Infinity brand packs are machine-washable. Use cold water and gentle cycle, whenever possible. Hang to dry.
To clean the AC Adapter/Charger: Infinity Orange AC Adapter/Charger normally does not require cleaning. When desired, a dry or slightly damp cloth may be used to clean the outside surface of AC Adapter/Charger while it is disconnected from the wall outlet.

If gray wheel is slightly loosened, pump can be rotated to snap into different positions. Retighten gray wheel when pump is in the desired position. Tighten black wheel to mount clamp on a pole (Figure 6-2).

Infinity Orange can be used on pediatric patients if the specifications of pump meet delivery requirements of the patient. The specifications of primary importance are:

Electromagnetic Emissions/Interference Electromagnetic emissions may affect the operation of any electronic medical device, including enteral feeding pumps.

The Infinity Orange will not be affected by electromagnetic emissions in most environments. However, some electromagnetic fields produced by personal communication equipment, household appliances, or occupational tools may cause electromagnetic interference (EMI) which can affect the pump.

Possible sources of electromagnetic interference with electronic medical devices include, but are not limited to: cellular phones, cordless telephones, microwave ovens, anti-theft/ security systems, blenders, and high-powered tools (i.e. drills, saws, chain saws). If electromagnetic emitting devices are operated within one yard/meter of the Infinity Orange, the pump may automatically shut off and settings may return to their default values. Check the pump regularly if operating near sources of electromagnetic emissions.

The Infinity Orange can safely be operated on commercial aircraft and is designed in accordance with EN 60601-1-2, EN 60601-1-4 and RTCA
DO160D standards for electromagnetic emissions and immunity.

There is no routine calibration or adjustment procedure required for Infinity Orange. There are no user-serviceable parts. All service requests should be referred to Moog technical service.
Disposal Information
At the end of their service lifetime, the pump and its electrical accessories (AC Adapter Charger and Data Download Accessory Cable) should be disposed of according to local standards and regulations governing the disposal of electronic waste (e-waste). Other accessories can be disposed of or recycled as standard non-hazardous waste.

10. WARRANTY
Solely for the benefit of the original buyer, Moog Medical Devices Group (“Moog”), warrants all new Infinity products of its manufacture (hereafter “Products”) to be free from defects in material and workmanship, and will replace or repair, F.O.B., at its factory in Salt Lake City, Utah, or other location designated by Moog, any Products returned to it within twenty-four (24) months of original purchase by the buyer. Such repair or replacement shall be free of charge.
Moog warrants to the original buyer, that the Moog-repaired portion of the Products, or replaced Products will be free from defects in material and workmanship, and Moog will replace or repair defective Products F.O.B., at its factory in Salt Lake City, Utah, or other location designated by Moog. Such Moog-performed re- pair or replacement shall carry a warranty of ninety (90) days from the date of repair or replacement or the balance of the new Product warranty as described above, whichever is greater.
THE FOREGOING WARRANTIES AND REMEDIES ARE SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE AND ARE IN LIEU OF ANY REMEDIES OR WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR OTHER WARRANTY OF QUALITY, WHETHER EXPRESS, STATUTORY OR IMPLIED. USE OF ADMINISTRATION SETS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN DESIGNED AND MANUFACTURED BY MOOG ARE CONSIDERED COUNTERFEIT PRODUCT AND WILL VOID ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES ON MOOG PUMP EQUIPMENT AND ADMINISTRATION SETS. THE USE OF COUNTERFEIT PRODUCT POSES ACCURACY AND SAFETY RISKS TO PATIENTS. CUSTOMER AGREES THAT THEY WILL NOT PURCHASE OR USE COUNTERFEIT PRODUCT WITH MOOG DEVICES.
This Warranty is void if the Product is opened or tampered with in any way without prior authorization from Moog.
This Warranty does not cover normal wear and tear and maintenance items, and specifically excludes batteries, administration sets, extension sets or any other accessory items used with the Products.
Other than Moog’s standard warranty which has been modified as stated herein, all other terms of Moog’s standard terms and conditions of sale apply, as the only terms governing this transaction.

SURVOL DU PRODUIT
Le système Infinity® Orange® est une pompe d’alimentation entérale péristaltique rotative conçue pour administrer des doses programmées de préparations de nutrition entérale à des débits sélectionnables. Il est facile à utiliser avec une interface utilisateur et un clavier simple. La technologie de Moog permet une exactitude de ± 5 % et possède la capacité de fonctionner en toute sécurité dans n’importe quelle orientation. Le système Infinity comprend une gamme complète de trousses d’alimentation à pompe sans DEHP avec protection automatique contre l’écoulement libre.
Le système Infinity Orange est conçu à la fois pour une utilisation en hôpital et dans le cadre de soins alternatifs. Il est durable, résistant à l’eau et facile à transporter dans un sac de transport Moog. La taille, le poids, l’exactitude et la portabilité du système Infinity permettent et soutiennent l’amélioration de la santé par l’activité physique.
L’alimentation entérale est considérée comme un acte médical et suivre les instructions d’utilisation dans le manuel de l’utilisateur est important pour le fonctionnement normal de la pompe.

Veillez à lire attentivement les avertissements et mises en garde suivants. Le fait de ne pas passer en revue l’ensemble des avertissements et mises en garde peut causer un préjudice à l’utilisateur ou au patient. Le personnel de soins de santé qui dispense la formation aux utilisateurs non professionnels doit s’assurer de revoir l’ensemble des avertissements et des mises en garde avec l’utilisateur non professionnel. En cas de modification des performances de la pompe, communiquez avec le service à la clientèle.
AVERTISSEMENTS

4 Utilisez UNIQUEMENT les solutions d’alimentation prescrites par le médecin responsable, le diététiste, l’infirmière autorisée ou tout autre praticien agréé. Le non-respect de cette directive peut entraîner un préjudice pour le patient.

4 Utilisez UNIQUEMENT les trousses jetables Infinity pour assurer une administration adéquate du liquide. Les autres trousses ne délivreront pas la bonne dose, peuvent permettre des conditions d’écoulement libre dangereuses et peuvent générer des pressions de liquide dangereuses qui déclencheraient des alarmes d’occlusion à des pressions imprévisibles.

4 La durée d’une administration à des débits faibles combinés avec des réglages de doses élevés peut dépasser la durée de vie de la trousse jetable. Le sac jetable et les ensembles de capuchons à vis doivent être remplacés toutes les 24 heures et les trousses de perforateur doivent être remplacées toutes les 48 heures (maximum de 1,5 l) pour maintenir l’exactitude de l’administration, permettre une bonne détection de la présence d’air ou d’une obstruction, et empêcher la prolifération des bactéries.NE PAS PROGRAMMER DE COMBINAISONS DE DÉBIT ET DE DOSE ENTRAÎNANT LE DÉPASSEMENT D’UN RÉGIME D’ALIMENTATION DE 24 HEURES POUR LES ENSEMBLES DE SAC JETABLE OU D’UN RÉGIME D’ALIMENTATION DE 48 HEURES POUR LES ENSEMBLES DE PERFORATEUR.

4 L’autonomie de la pile est une approximation. Si vous n’êtes pas sûr que l’autonomie est suffisante pour votre usage prévu, rechargez la pile. Le non- respect de cette directive peut entraîner un retard ou une insuffisance de traitement.

4 Pour éviter un choc électrique, ne nettoyez jamais la pompe lorsque le chargeur est branché sur une prise ou lorsque la pompe est en marche.

4 Pour éviter une décharge électrique, assurez-vous que l’adaptateur/chargeur c.a. Infinity est complètement sec avant de le brancher sur une prise électrique.

4 N’utilisez pas la pompe d’alimentation entérale Infinity pour l’administration de préparations non entérales. Des lésions graves peuvent en résulter.

4 Pour que la pompe fonctionne correctement, la porte doit être fermée et verrouillée. Assurez-vous que celle-ci est fermée et verrouillée lorsque le moteur est en marche.
4 Si une erreur se produit (ER01 ER99 apparaîtra à l’écran), contrôlez et vérifiez tous les réglages et tous les compteurs de volume avant de commencer une alimentation. Le non-respect de cette directive peut entraîner un retard ou une insuffisance de traitement.
4 Aucune modification n’est autorisée sur cet équipement, ce qui inclut la pompe, les trousses jetables et les accessoires. Une telle modification peut entraîner un retard de traitement, une administration excessive ou insuffisante, une électrocution, des blessures ou la mort.
4 Avant de démarrer la pompe, assurez-vous que le débit, la dose et le type d’aliment sont programmés conformément à ce qui est prescrit pour éviter une condition d’alimentation dangereuse.
4 Cet appareil contient de petites pièces. Lorsque le capuchon du connecteur n’est pas utilisé, veuillez le jeter ou le ranger dans un endroit sûr pour éviter tout risque d’étouffement pour les enfants de moins de trois ans.
4 Évitez de laisser la tubulure et les cordons dans un endroit où les nourrissons, les enfants ou les personnes qui présentent un risque élevé de s’enchevêtrer dans des câbles médicaux peuvent s’y trouver. Sachez que si ces articles s’enroulent autour du cou d’un patient, il y a un risque accru de strangulation ou de mort. Les soignants de patients qui présentent un risque de s’enchevêtrer doivent discuter avec leur fournisseur de soins de santé de la manière de gérer leurs câbles correctement, et de surveiller correctement les patients en fonction de leurs besoins lorsque ces câbles sont utilisés.

4 La loi fédérale américaine n’autorise la vente de ce dispositif que par un médecin ou sur son ordonnance, un diététiste, une infirmière ou tout autre praticien agréé.
4 Éliminez la pompe Infinity, la pompe Infinity Orange et les trousses jetables de façon adéquate, comme l’exige la législation locale.
4 Si des fuites sont détectées dans la trousse jetable, arrêtez le fonctionnement de la pompe et déconnectez la trousse du patient, puis remplacez-la par une nouvelle trousse jetable. Le non-respect

de cette directive peut entraîner une insuffisance de traitement.
4 Il faut faire attention lors de l’amorçage manuel de la trousse d’alimentation pour éviter d’endommager la cassette en employant une force excessive.
4 Ne surchargez pas les sacs de transport avec des objets personnels. Une tubulure tortillée ou pincée ou des boutons enfoncés de manière involontaire peuvent nuire au fonctionnement de la pompe.
4 Le système Infinity utilise un capteur d’air optique intégré pour détecter l’air présent dans la tubulure lors de son passage à travers la pompe, ce qui entrainerait ainsi le déclenchement de l’alarme de la pompe si l’alimentation en venait à être interrompue par inadvertance ou lorsque l’alimentation est terminée. Il est important de garder ce capteur libre de débris, y compris de liquides ou d’aliments renversés qui peuvent adhérer au capteur et empêcher la détection correcte de l’air dans la tubulure.
Le clinicien et le soignant doivent être formés en ce qui concerne les soins, l’utilisation et l’entretien de la pompe Infinity et de ses accessoires, y compris sur le nettoyage adéquat de la zone autour du capteur d’air optique intégré.
4 Utiliser UNIQUEMENT des solutions d’alimentation préemballées ou préparées et formulées pour une utilisation avec une pompe d’alimentation disponibles sur le marché qui sont prescrites par un fournisseur de soins de santé ou un(e) diététiste agréé(e).
4 NE PAS UTILISER DE SOLUTIONS D’ALIMENTATION MAISON PASSÉES AU MÉLANGEUR OU LIQUÉFIÉES, OU D’AUTRES SOLUTIONS D’ALIMENTATION NON PRESCRITES OU NON DISPONIBLES SUR LE MARCHÉ. Les solutions d’alimentation maison passées au mélangeur ou d’autres solutions d’alimentation non prescrites peuvent contenir des particules solides collantes et leur utilisation peut causer une obstruction du capteur optique. Il est recommandé que tous les utilisateurs nettoient et entretiennent la pompe et les capteurs optiques conformément aux recommandations du fabricant.
4 L’utilisation des formules passées au mélangeur disponibles sur le marché (HCPCS Code : B4149) peut affecter la précision et les performances de la pompe. Il est recommandé de respecter les directives du fabricant de la formule pour l’utilisation de la pompe.

Clavier

Appuyez sur la touche ON/OFF (marche/ arrêt) pendant 1,5 seconde pour allumer ou éteindre le système Infinity.

Appuyez sur la touche PRIME (amorcer) et maintenez-la enfoncée pour rapidement remplir la trousse jetable de liquide. Relâchez la touche pour arrêter.
Appuyez sur la touche RUN/PAUSE (FONCTIONNEMENT/PAUSE) pour démarrer la pompe ou la mettre en pause, ou pour désactiver une alarme.

Appuyez sur la touche FOOD TYPE (TYPE D’ALIMENT) pour afficher et sélectionner le type d’aliment à distribuer (lait maternisé ou lait humain).

Appuyez sur la touche VOL/TOTAL (volume/total) une fois pour afficher le volume administré lors de l’alimentation actuelle. Appuyez sur la touche à nouveau pour afficher le volume total cumulé administré dans tous les cycles d’alimentation depuis l’effacement du volume total.
Appuyez sur la touche RATE/DOSE (DÉBIT/DOSE) pour passer du réglage du debit à celui de la dose, et pour confirmer les réglages

Appuyez sur la touche CLEAR (effacer) pour réinitialiser la fonction affichée à sa valeur minimale. Appuyez et maintenez la touche enfoncée pendant trois secondes pour effacer en même temps le débit, la dose, l’intervalle d’alimentation et le volume administrés aux valeurs minimales prescrites.
Appuyez sur la touche + pour augmenter la fonction d’alimentation affichée. Appuyez et maintenez la touche enfoncée pour augmenter la valeur rapidement.
Appuyez sur la touche pour diminuer la fonction d’alimentation affichée. Appuyez et maintenez la touche enfoncée pour diminuer la valeur rapidement.
Remarque : Les touches suivantes ne fonctionnent que lorsque la pompe est en mode pause : PRIME (amorcer), CLEAR (effacer), + et .

Afficheur
L’afficheur comprend de grands caractères alphanumériques ainsi que des petits symboles et des mots. Tous les segments et symboles sur l’afficheur sont présentés dans la Figure 1-4.
Les paramètres et les messages sont affichés en gros caractères alphanumériques (Figure 1-5).
Lorsque les gros caractères alphanumériques affichent des nombres, l’un des plus petits mots sous les caractères indique la fonction qui est affichée (Figure 1-6).
Le symbole « run » (en marche) indique que la pompe est en marche (Figure 1-7).
Le symbole de fiche murale indique que le chargeur est branché et connecté à une prise électrique active. Le symbole de pile indique que la pompe fonctionne sur la pile uniquement. Le symbole de jauge de carburant indique le niveau de charge restant de la pile (Figure 1-8).
REMARQUE : Lorsque l’appareil est alimenté en courant alternatif, la lumière de l’écran reste allumée. Lorsque l’appareil fonctionne sur pile, la lumière de l’écran s’éteint automatiquement 10 secondes après avoir appuyé sur une dernière touche. Si vous préférez que la lumière s’éteigne lorsque l’appareil est connecté sur une prise de courant, vous pouvez régler l’éclairage de la pompe sur ARRÊT. Consultez la section Réglages des préférences de l’utilisateur (page 19) pour savoir comment modifier ce réglage.

Symboles

De brèves instructions pour le fonctionnement de la pompe ainsi qu’une brève explication de tous les messages d’alarme qui peuvent être émis par la pompe sont imprimées sur l’étiquette fixée à la pompe. Celles-ci ne sont pas destinées à être utilisées à la place du manuel de l’utilisateur. Elles ne doivent servir que comme guide de référence rapide. Veuillez lire le manuel de l’utilisateur avant d’utiliser le système Infinity.
Le symbole du sac est imprimé sur la porte de la pompe au-dessus de l’orifice où la tubulure en amont entre dans la pompe.
Le symbole du patient est imprimé sur la porte de la pompe au-dessus de l’orifice où la tubulure en aval sort de la pompe.
Protection contre les décharges électriques selon la norme EN 60601-1 des parties du type BF. Aucune connexion électrique au patient. Une chute sous n’importe quel angle à partir d’une hauteur de 3 pieds ne devrait pas endommager le fonctionnement de la pompe.
Protection contre la pénétration d’eau dans l’enceinte selon la norme EN 60529. Les jets d’eau provenant de toutes les directions n’auront aucun effet.
Ce symbole est imprimé sur les trousses d’alimentation à pompe. Il indique qu’un seul patient doit utiliser chaque trousse jetable.

Recommandation pour la première utilisation : Étant donné que la pile pourrait ne pas être complètement chargée lorsque vous recevez la pompe, on recommande de la charger pendant 6 heures avant de l’utiliser (voir la page 67 pour plus d’informations).
Amorçage et chargement de la trousse jetable
Étape 1 :
4 Si vous utilisez le ensemble de perforateur à vis de sécurité Infinity ou la trousse du perforateur avec une bouteille ventilée ou un sac pré-rempli : Retirez le capuchon de protection de la pointe, puis insérez la pointe dans l’orifice de sortie de la préparation du contenant. Si vous utilisez la Ensemble de perforateur à vis de sécurité Infinity, fixez la pointe en vissant les composants filetés ensemble. (Figure 2-1).
4 Si vous utilisez une trousse jetable de 500 ml ou de 1200 ml : Tenez le sac debout et versez la préparation d’alimentation à l’intérieur (Figure 2-2). Fermez bien le couvercle.
4 Si vous utilisez la trousse d’administration à capuchon à vis : Remplissez une bouteille ou un récipient ayant une ouverture de 40 mm et fixez-le sur la capsule à vis. Placez la bouteille/le contenant dans le sac de suspension et fixez le sac à un support pour intraveineuse (Figure 2-3).
REMARQUE : Les préparations passées au mélangeur ou mélangées vigoureusement peuvent comporter de la mousse. Si vous utilisez ce type de préparation, laissez-la reposer pendant 10 à 15 minutes avant de la verser dans le sac. Cela permettra de réduire le risque d’une alarme en raison de la présence d’air dans la tubulure.
Étape 2: Retirez le capuchon de l’adaptateur cannelé. Si vous utilisez la pince de fixation, vous pouvez placer le capuchon de protection dans la rainure à l’arrière de la pince (Figure 2-4).

REMARQUE : Si vous utilisez la trousse avec un sac de transport, il faut retirer tout l’air du sac et de la tubulure. Passez à l’étape 3 pour obtenir des instructions sur l’élimination de l’air. Si vous accrochez la trousse au- dessus de la pompe, p. ex., sur un support pour intraveineuse, vous pouvez passer à l’étape 4.
Étape 3: Retournez le sac à l’envers et pressez-le doucement. Inclinez-le au besoin pour évacuer l’air à travers l’orifice de la tubulure (Figure 2-5).

la pression de pincement est peut-être trop forte. (Figure 2-6).

REMARQUE : Le dispositif d’occlusion intégré se trouve à l’intérieur de la tubulure bleu-vert, en dessous du symbole « ». La vanne anti-écoulement libre intégrée sert de dispositif d’occlusion intégré. En pinçant doucement la tubulure, celle-ci s’éloigne du dispositif d’occlusion intégré ce qui
permet au fluide de s’écouler (Figure 2-6). Il est important de pincer le tube sous le symbole« » uniquement pour éviter d’endommager l’obturateur en ligne.

REMARQUE : Faites très attention de ne pincer la tubulure qu’en utilisant la partie plate et douce de votre doigt. N’utilisez pas vos ongles quand vous pincez la tubulure;
cela pourrait percer la trousse d’alimentation (Figure 2-7). Si vous pensez que la trousse d’alimentation a été perforée, jetez-la et utilisez une nouvelle trousse.

REMARQUE : L’air peut également être retiré de la tubulure à l’aide de la fonctionnalité d’amorçage de la pompe. Consultez l’étape 7 pour obtenir des
instructions sur l’utilisation de la fonctionnalité d’amorçage de la pompe.

2. MODE D’EMPLOI

Étape 5: Faites passer la tubulure de silicone autour de la roulette de la pompe en l’étirant légèrement. Insérez la cassette dans la pompe (Figure 2-9). Fermez la porte de la pompe (Figure 2-10).

REMARQUE : Consultez les pages 84 à 85 pour l’utilisation de la pompe avec un sac à dos.

Étape 6: Appuyez sur la touche ON/OFF (marche/arrêt) et maintenez-la enfoncée pendant 1,5 seconde pour allumer la pompe. Pendant que la pompe effectue son auto-test, l’afficheur s’allume et une alarme sonore retentit tandis que la pompe affiche le numéro de série à neuf chiffres, trois chiffres à la fois et pendant une seconde chaque fois. L’afficheur présente alors la lettre « R » suivie d’un numéro, qui est le numéro de révision du logiciel.

Tous les segments de l’afficheur apparaissent ensuite pendant 2 secondes. Vérifiez que tous les segments et symboles de l’afficheur sont actifs.

L’auto-test est terminé; la pompe affiche alors le dernier débit programmé et se met en mode pause.

S’il y a encore de l’air dans la tubulure, passez

à l’étape 7 pour utiliser la fonctionnalité

d’amorçage de la pompe.

Appuyez sur la touche PRIME (amorcer) et maintenez-

la enfoncée. L’alarme sonnera une fois et la pompe commencera à pomper à une vitesse

approximative de 360 ml/h. L’afficheur indique « TO STOP LET GO » (pour arrêter, relâchez)

(Figure 2-11). Une fois que tout l’air sera retiré de la tubulure, relâchez la touche. La pompe

s’arrête alors, l’afficheur retourne au dernier débit programmé et la pompe se met en mode

pause.

Étape 1: Préparez la trousse jetable avec une préparation d’alimentation entérale comme cela est décrit dans les instructions d’amorçage et de chargement de la trousse jetable (Page 60).

Étape 2: Accrochez le sac ou le contenant d’alimentation de sorte que le fond du sac soit au niveau ou au-dessus du niveau de la porte de la pompe (reportez-vous à la page 88).

OR -Si vous utilisez un sac de transport Infinity, placez la pompe et le sac à gavage dans les compartiments appropriés puis fixez la pompe, le sac à gavage et la tubulure avec les sangles du sac de transport (Page 84).

Étape 3: Allumez la pompe en appuyant sur la touche ON/OFF (marche/arrêt). L’afficheur indique le dernier débit programmé après l’exécution de l’auto- test.

Étape 4: Appuyez sur la touche + ou – pour ajuster le débit à 120 ml/h. Maintenez l’une des deux touches enfoncée pour le faire plus rapidement (Figure 2-12).

Étape 5: Appuyez sur la touche RATE/DOSE (débit/dose) pour afficher la dose. Appuyez sur la touche + ou jusqu’à ce qu’une dose de 500 ml s’affiche(Figure 2-13).

Étape 6 Confirmez le type d’aliment à administrer (lait maternisé ou humain) avant de démarrer la pompe en appuyant sur la touche FOOD TYPE (TYPE D’ALIMENT). Appuyez sur les touches + ou – pour passer du lait maternisé au lait humain.

Étape 7 Connecter l’extrémité de la trousse jetable à la sonde d’alimentation entérale du patient. (Figure 2-14).
Étape 8 Appuyez sur la touche RUN/PAUSE (mise en marche/ pause). La pompe commence à fonctionner. L’afficheur présente le débit programmé et les arcs tournent autour du symbole « run » (en marche) (Figure 2-15).

Pendant que la pompe fonctionne, les renseignements suivants peuvent être visualisés en appuyant sur la touche appropriée : RATE (DÉBIT), DOSE (DOSE) et FOOD TYPE (TYPE D’ALIMENT).

Appuyez sur la touche VOL/TOTAL (volume/total) pour visualiser la quantité administrée au cours de l’alimentation actuelle (Figure 2-16). Ce compteur se réinitialise lorsque la dose précédemment programmée est terminée et qu’une nouvelle alimentation commence ou si une alimentation est interrompue et que le débit, la dose ou l’intervalle d’alimentation sont modifiés.

Appuyez sur la touche VOL/TOTAL (volume/ total) une seconde fois pour visualiser la quantité administrée au cours de plusieurs alimentations. L’afficheur indique TOTL (total) et la quantité. Ce compteur ne se réinitialise jamais. Il ne peut être réinitialisé que par l’utilisateur (Figure 2-17).

Les réglages ne peuvent être modifiés et la fonctionnalité d’amorçage est désactivée lorsque la pompe est en marche.

Si vous voulez arrêter la pompe à tout moment, appuyez sur la touche RUN/ PAUSE (FONCTIONNEMENT/PAUSE). L’écran affichera le débit et la pompe passera au mode pause. La pompe gardera en mémoire le moment où elle en était rendue dans le cycle d’alimentation lors de sa mise en pause. Vous pouvez aussi arrêter la pompe en appuyant sur la touche ON/OFF (MARCHE/ARRÊT).

Pour redémarrer la pompe se trouvant en mode pause, appuyez sur la touche RUN/PAUSE (FONCTIONNEMENT/PAUSE). La pompe redémarre l’alimentation au point où elle a été mise en pause.

REMARQUE : Si la pompe est arrêtée et remise en marche, le compteur de volume administré se remet à 0 et le type d’aliment repasse au lait maternisé. Le débit, la dose et le type de nourriture doivent être confirmés avant de redémarrer la pompe avec une nouvelle alimentation.

REMARQUE : TOUTE MODIFICATION DES RÉGLAGES DE LA POMPE (SAUF LE TYPE D’ALIMENT) AU COURS D’UN CYCLE D’ALIMENTATION ENTRAÎNERA LE DÉMARRAGE D’UNE NOUVELLE ALIMENTATION; LA POMPE NE DÉMARRERA PAS LÀ OÙ ELLE A ÉTÉ ARRÊTÉE. LE DÉBIT, LA DOSE ET LE TYPE D’ALIMENT DOIVENT ÊTRE CONFIRMÉS EN CONSULTANT CHAQUE RÉGLAGE AVANT DE REDÉMARRER LA POMPE.

Achèvement de l’alimentation : La pompe s’arrête et l’afficheur indique DOSE DONE (dose terminée) lorsque la dose est complètement administrée. La pompe reste en mode pause jusqu’à ce qu’elle soit éteinte ou que l’alimentation soit redémarrée. Pour effacer le message DOSE DONE (dose terminée), appuyez sur la touche ON/OFF (marche/arrêt) et maintenez-la enfoncée pendant 1,5 seconde si vous souhaitez éteindre la pompe ou appuyez sur la touche RUN/PAUSE (mise en marche/pause) si vous souhaitez mettre la pompe en mode pause. Des changements aux réglages peuvent être effectués à ce moment. Appuyez sur la touche RUN/PAUSE (mise en marche/pause) une seconde fois pour commencer une autre alimentation en utilisant le même débit, la même dose et les mêmes réglages d’alimentation par intervalle.

Si vous préférez une alarme sonore lorsque

l’administration de la dose est terminée, vous pouvez

modifier le réglage de l’alarme pour l’achèvement de la dose de la pompe pour BEEP WHEN DONE

(sonner lorsque terminé). Consultez la section

Réglages des préférences de l’utilisateur (page 19) afin d’obtenir des instructions

pour la modification de ce paramètre. Quand la pompe est réglée sur BEEP WHEN

DONE (sonner lorsque terminé), elle s’arrête à la fin de l’alimentation, l’alarme

sonne de manière intermittente et l’afficheur indique DOSE DONE (dose terminée)

(Figure 2-18). Pour arrêter l’alarme lorsque l’administration de la dose est terminée,

appuyez sur la touche ON/OFF (marche/arrêt) et maintenez-la enfoncée pendant

1,5 seconde si vous souhaitez éteindre la pompe ou appuyez sur la touche RUN/

PAUSE (mise en marche/pause) si vous souhaitez mettre la pompe en mode pause.

Alimentation suivante : Allumez la pompe. Les réglages précédents pour le débit, la dose et l’intervalle d’alimentation sont enregistrés dans la mémoire. Si aucun changement n’est nécessaire, vérifiez que chaque réglage est correct et redémarrez la pompe.
REMARQUE : Si la pompe est arrêtée et remise en marche, le compteur de volume administré se remet à 0 et le type d’aliment repasse au lait maternisé. Le débit, la dose et le type de nourriture doivent être confirmés avant de redémarrer la pompe avec une nouvelle alimentation. Si la dose et le type d’aliment ne sont pas vérifiés à l’écran avant d’appuyer sur la touche RUN/PAUSE (FONCTIONNEMENT/PAUSE, la pompe émet une alarme et affiche CONFIRM DOSE AND FOOD TYPE (CONFIRMER LA DOSE ET LE TYPE D’ALIMENT).
REMARQUE : Les réglages de débit, de dose et de type d’aliment peuvent être verrouillés de sorte qu’il est impossible de les modifier. Voir la section Réglages des préférences de l’utilisateur (page 69) pour les instructions de modification de ces réglages.

La pile Fonctionnement avec une pile comme source d’énergie

Le système Infinity fonctionne pendant 24 heures à un débit de 125 ml/h. Il faut environ six heures pour recharger complètement une pile complètement déchargée.

Le symbole de la pile apparaît sur l’afficheur lorsque la pompe est alimentée par la pile (Figure 2-19).

Les segments ou blocs entre E et F symbolisent la jauge de carburant de la pile. Chaque bloc représente environ 6 heures d’autonomie. Chaque barre se met à clignoter lorsqu’elle est à moitié épuisée, indiquant ainsi qu’il reste environ 3 heures d’autonomie pour cette barre. Lorsque le dernier bloc a disparu, le symbole de pile clignote pour indiquer qu’il reste environ 30 minutes d’autonomie. L’afficheur fait clignoter le message LOW BATT (pile faible) toutes les 3 secondes et la pompe émet un signal sonore toutes les 2 secondes pour rappeler à l’utilisateur l’état de pile faible. La pompe s’éteint automatiquement lorsque la pile est complètement déchargée.

REMARQUE : L’autonomie de la pile est une approximation basée sur une pile complètement chargée et un débit de 125 ml/h. Des débits plus élevés, un nombre élevé de cycles de charge/décharge ou une utilisation à des températures extrêmes feront baisser la pile plus rapidement, tandis que des débits plus faibles permettront à la pile de durer plus longtemps. La durée de vie prévue de la pile est de 2 à 5 ans, en fonction de l’utilisation.

La pile Rechargement de la pile

Pour recharger la pile, insérez le connecteur de l’adaptateur/chargeur c.a. dans l’orifice sur le côté gauche de la pompe. Branchez le chargeur dans une prise murale.

La pompe se recharge qu’elle

soit éteinte ou en marche.

Le symbole de fiche électrique apparaît sur

l’afficheur et la jauge de carburant affiche

quatre barres qui défilent de E à F lorsque

le chargeur est branché et que la pompe

se recharge. Cette animation se répète

continuellement pendant le rechargement de

la pompe (Figures 2-20a à 2-20e). La pompe est

chargée lorsque les barres cessent de défiler.

Débranchez le chargeur de la pompe et allumez la pompe pour vérifier l’état de la pile pendant la charge.

REMARQUE : Si la pompe s’est mise hors tension

en raison d’une pile faible, la charger moins de

10 minutes peut entraîner une alarme ER99.

Rechargez complètement la pile si elle est

déchargée (voir la page 73 pour effacer l’alarme).

Réglages des préférences de l’utilisateur

Il y a six réglages de préférences de l’utilisateur. Ces réglages peuvent être modifiés pour s’adapter aux besoins de l’utilisateur.

Volume de l’alarme : L’alarme a deux volumes : fort et faible. Le réglage par défaut de la pompe est faible (Figure 2-21).

Verrouillage des réglages : Cela permet à l’utilisateur de fixer un débit, une dose et un intervalle d’alimentation puis de

verrouiller ces paramètres pour qu’ils ne puissent

pas être modifiés par inadvertance. Cela permettra

également d’éviter que les compteurs de volume

soient involontairement effacés. Le réglage par

défaut de la pompe est déverrouillé (Figure 2-22).

Pour préserver l’autonomie de la pile, le

enfoncée. Les paramètres de rétro-éclairage peuvent

cependant être ajustés lorsque la pompe est reliée

à une source de courantCA. L’éclairage peut être

réglé sur ON (allumé) ou OFF (éteint). Avec le réglage

ON (allumé), le rétro-éclairage reste allumé aussi

longtemps que la pompe est branchée sur une prise électrique active. Avec le réglage OFF (éteint), le

REMARQUE : Indépendamment du réglage, le rétro-éclairage s’éteint toujours 10 secondes après la mise hors tension de la pompe.

Débit Maximal :

La gamme de débit va de 0,1 ml/heure à 300 ml/

heure. Toutefois, le débit peut être programmé

de manière à limiter le réglage maximum du débit. Les limites sont de 50, 100, 150, 200 et 250 ml/h. Le débit n’est pas limité si le réglage des

préférences de l’utilisateur est programmé sur NO MAX (AUCUN MAXIMUM). La

valeur par défaut de la pompe est NO MAX (AUCUN MAXIMUM) (Figure 2-25).

Dose Maximale :

La gamme de doses va de 0,1 ml à 3 000 ml.

Toutefois, la dose peut être programmée de

manière à limiter le réglage maximum de la dose.

Les limites sont de 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100 et 120 ml. La dose n’est pas limitée si le réglage

des préférences de l’utilisateur est programmé sur NO MAX (AUCUN MAXIMUM).

La valeur par défaut de la pompe est NO MAX (AUCUN MAXIMUM)(Figure 2-26).

Étape 4: Appuyer de nouveau sur la touche PRIME (amorcer). L’afficheur indique LITE ON (éclairage allumé) ou LITE OFF (éclairage éteint). Appuyez sur la touche + pour passer à LITE ON (éclairage allumé) ou sur la touche pour passer à LITE OFF (éclairage éteint). Si le réglage est comme vous le souhaitez, n’appuyez sur aucune des touches.
Étape 5: Appuyez sur la touche PRIME (AMORCER) de nouveau. L’écran affichera MAX RATE (DÉBIT MAXIMAL) suivi de NONE (AUCUN) ou une valeur de débit maximal telle que 100 ml/h. Appuyez sur + ou – pour faire défiler les réglages jusqu’à ce que la valeur désirée s’affiche. Si le réglage est tel que souhaité, n’appuyez sur aucune des touches.
Étape 6: Appuyez sur la touche PRIME (AMORCER) de nouveau. L’écran affichera MAX DOSE (DOSE MAXIMALE) suivi de NONE (AUCUNE) ou une valeur de dose maximale telle que 20 ml/h. Appuyez sur + ou – pour faire défiler les réglages jusqu’à ce que la valeur désirée s’affiche. Si le réglage est tel que souhaité, n’appuyez sur aucune des touches.
Étape 7: Appuyez sur la touche ON/OFF (marche/arrêt) pour éteindre la pompe. Les changements apportés aux réglages sont automatiquement sauvegardés.
REMARQUE : Une fois que l’utilisateur a modifié le réglage de préférence de l’utilisateur souhaité, il n’est pas nécessaire de visualiser les autres réglages de préférence de l’utilisateur. Chaque modification sera automatiquement enregistrée au fur et à mesure qu’elle sera effectuée.
REMARQUE : La pompe s’éteint automatiquement après 2 minutes passées dans les réglages des préférences de l’utilisateur si ce dernier ne l’éteint pas avant.
