Overview
SOLOreader is a powerful RFID reader & Bluetooth device capable of scanning and transmitting data to a device running the SOLOstudio app in order to trigger specific show cues. SOLOreader can also receive feedback from your device, notifying you of actions taken, which can be fully customised in app. SOLOreader is light, discreet and can operate for up to 8 hours on a single charge.

Getting Started
- Download our app SOLOstudio (available for iOS and Android).
- Connect SOLOreader to SOLOstudio.
- Add cues and assign RFID tags.
Connecting the SOLOreader
- Power on SOLOreader by pressing the power button (blue notification LED will flash).
- Open the SOLOstudio app and tap the ‘Devices’ icon in the bottom right corner.
- In ‘Available Devices’ column, tap ‘SOLO NFC’ and follow the on-screen instructions.
POWER OFF: Press and hold the power button until the device vibrates and
the led flashes.
TOGGLE PAIRING MODE: When SOLOreader is connected to a device, press the
power button. The blue light with illuminate. To exit this mode, tap power
button again.
HARD RESET: Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds or more, and
release.
The battery
When SOLOreader is powered on but unused for a period it will power itself off
to preserve power and extend battery life. This ‘Idle auto power off’ period
can be set in ‘Device Settings’ in the SOLOstudio app when the SOLOreader is
connected.
CAUTION: The maximum operating temperature is 40°C.
NOTE: Only charge SOLOreader using the USBC cable provided and using a
reliable power source. 5V ⎓ 0.09A Charge time: 4 hours
DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED WHILE CHARGING
Do not charge battery below 10°C or above 40°C.
Warranty
Solo Automations Ltd provides the SOLOreader device with a 12-month warranty commencing on the delivery or collection date. During this 12month period, Solo Automations Ltd warrants that the device will be free of material defects that prevent its normal operation. If you have purchased the SOLOreader device as a consumer and not for commercial use, the warranty will apply during such longer period as prescribed under applicable mandatory consumer protection laws. Solo Automations Ltd will not be liable for any damages or defects to SOLOreader caused by normal wear and tear, improper use or by accident, malicious damage, hazard, excess humidity, liquid ingress, electrical stress, or other environmental conditions not commonly found in a normal safe working environment. Solo Automations will not be liable if the defect arises because you have failed to follow Solo Automation Ltd’s written instructions as to storage, installation, use or maintenance of SOLOreader or if you alter or attempt to repair the relevant device without the written consent of Solo Automations Ltd. Solo Automations Ltd’s warranty does not extend to cables, accessories, plugs, or power supply units.
Returns
It is your responsibility to return the faulty device to Solo Automations Ltd.
Solo Automations Ltd will, in its discretion, either repair or replace faulty
devices within 90 days of the date of receipt of the device.
Solo Automations Ltd advises you to carefully check the device before dispatch
to ensure that it is defective. Any device returned which is not found to be
defective or has been damaged or misused by you will be returned to you and
you will be invoiced for the cost of shipping. A repaired or replaced device
will be warrantied for the unexpired portion of the original warranty.

Please note that the use of this accessory with an Android device, iPhone, or
iPad may affect wireless performance.
Important notice regarding use
Solo Automations Ltd supplies the SOLOreader device for use by you or your
business, as applicable, and you agree not to use the product for any resale
purposes.
You must not use the product for any purpose other than cueing music and
special effects through your installed version of the SOLOstudio app.
You may not modify the app or the hardware of the product in any way, save to
the extent permitted by mandatory law. This device complies with part 15 of
the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions:
- this device may not cause harmful interference, and
- this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
FCC Caution:
Any Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible
for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.
FCC RF Radiation Exposure Statement:
- This Transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter.
- This equipment complies with RF radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment
- The device has been evaluated to meet general RF exposure requirement. The device can be used in portable exposure condition without restriction.
Note: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
- Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
- Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
- Consult the dealer or an experienced technician for help.
Care taking and handling
Keep the SOLOreader in a cool, dry place (ideally, 22° C) and the maximum
operating temperature is 40° C (Celsius). Use a lightly damp, soft, cloth to
clean the device’s exterior. Do not spray any type of liquid directly on the
device and do not get moisture in any openings. Do not use solvents. Make sure
nothing gets inside your device through an opening, such as the LED light
slots or USBC port. Do not expose to shocks or negligent handling.
Changing the battery is not permitted. Risk of explosion if battery is
replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to the
instructions.
