Introduction
The Pyr-A-Lon6 Series MH Remote Manual Electric Control has been designed with
extreme flexibility in mind to meet a wide variety of application requirements
and operational sequences in connection with its basic function as a release
control for Pyr-A-Lons 1301 Fire Extinguishing Systems. To comply with NFPA
12A, these controls are now available only with a dual action function
involving a “push-in” tab, followed by the “pull-down” lever action. Each of
the above actions may operate electrical contacts to achieve various
electrical sequence func-tions as desired.
The Series MH Manual Controls are Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. listed and
Factory Mutual approved.
Flexibility of Application
The basic standard model is the double action Model MH-501, which contains
one normally open contact. It is intended for use with Cerberus Pyrotronics
low voltage systems, but has a rating of 120 Vac for connec-tion to other
systems. With the double action control, the optional switch on the first
action may be used for supervisory indication of tampering with the control or
for connection to a remote annunciator. It may also be used to alarm one zone
of a cross-zoned fire extinguishing system where the second zone, releasing
the HaIon 1301.
Technical Description
The Pyr-A-Lon Series MH Remote Manual Electric Control is constructed of
durable molded poly carbonate material, matte-finished in red with raised
letting in white. The housing incorporates a “push-in” tab which must be
operated first, permitting access to the “pull-down” lever which, when
operated, locks in position after releasing a spring-loaded contact switch.
Restor-ing the system to normal can only be accomplished by opening the cover
of the hinged housing with an uncommon tool”, and then closing and locking the
cover.
All models are fitted with screw-type terminals for system interconnection.
Provision is made for surface or semi-flush mounting to conduit boxes.
Engineer and Architect Specifications
The Remote Manual Electric Control shall be Pyr-A-Lon ® Model _____ (See chart
for number) with Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. listing and Factory Mutual
approval.
Double Action Model the double action control, which shall be on the non-code
type, shall consist of a molded housing, fitted with a “pull-down” lever and a
“push-in” tab. It shall be necessary to operate the “push-in” tab first to
provide access to the “pull-down” lever, which, when operated, locks in
position after releasing a spring-loaded contact switch to effect actuation of
the release circuit.
The body of the control shall be hinged to a backplate assembly to which it is
locked with a socket head screw.
Resetting the control after operation shall require opening the control
momentarily, and then locking the body to the backplate. Provision shall be
made for the surface or semi-flush mounting to conduit boxes.
