Model TSP-XB Bracket and Front Plate for TSP-40A Logging Printer for FireFinder-XLS/Desigo Fire Safety Modular/Cerberus PRO Modular Systems
INTRODUCTION
The Model TSP-XB U-Shaped Bracket and Front Plate are used to mount the TSP- 40A Logging Printer in a CAB2 or CAB3 enclosure. The TSP-40A provides a paper record of the activity of the system. You may install one printer for each PMI/PMI-2/PMI-3 (XLS), FCM2041-U2 (Desigo Fire Safety Modular), FCM2041-U3 (Cerberus PRO Modular) interface on your system. For additional information on the FireFinder-XLS/Desigo Fire Safety Modular/Cerberus PRO Modular System, refer to the FireFinder-XLS Control Panel Installation, Operation and Maintenance Manual, P/N 315-033744, the Desigo Fire Safety Modular Manual, Document ID A6V11231620, or the Cerberus PRO Modular Manual, Document ID A6V11231627. Installation of the TSP-40A in a FireFinder-XLS/Desigo Fire Safety Modular/Cerberus PRO Modular System System requires the following kits:
- P/N 500-634933 TSP-40A Printer Module
- P/N 500-849949 TSP-XB U-Shaped Bracket and Front Plate
- P/N 500-849950 TSP-XC Cable Kit
PRE-INSTALLATION
The U-Shaped Bracket and Front Plate are shipped assembled with seven (#10-32) nuts provided. Remove the nuts and set them to one side for later use. Remove the Front Plate and set it to one side. Mount the TSP-40A printer to the U-shaped bracket by placing the printer module over the four studs on the bracket, as shown in Figure 1. Make certain that the Takeup Reel is close to the end of the U-shaped bracket marked “TOP”. Secure the module in place with the four nuts provided with the printer module.
INSTALLATION
The TSP-40A mounts on four studs in the inner door of a CAB2 or CAB3 enclosure on the first row or on the row directly below the PMI/PMI-2/PMI-3 (XLS), FCM2041-U2 (Desigo Fire Safety Modular), FCM2041-U3 (Cerberus PRO Modular) interface. To install the TSP-40A in a CAB enclosure, place the U-Shaped Bracket with the TSP-40A printer module installed in it over the four studs in the rear of the inner door. Secure in place with the four nuts provided with the TSP-40A printer module (P/N 500-634933), as shown in Figure 2. When a TSP- 40A is installed in a CAB enclosure, only one CC-5 card cage or one CC-2 card cage and a PSC-12 power supply can be mounted in the row behind the printer module.
Electrical Installation
The TSP-40A printer modules comes with two cables, P/N 600-290607 and P/N
600-290606. These cables are used only in MXL/MXLV System installations. The
two cables used in FireFinder-XLS/Desigo Fire Safety Modular/Cerberus PRO
Modular Systems installations—a two-conductor power cable and a data cable—are
contained in the TSP-XC cable kit, P/N 500-849950. The two-conductor power
cable has a plug on one end that connects to P1 on the TSP-40A. The power
cable is provided at a length of 5 feet. Cut the wire to the length needed and
strip the insulation from the end of the wire 1/4” – 3/8”. The wired end
connects to the terminals on TB-4 of the PSC-12 or PSX-12, with the red wire
going to the positive (+) terminal and the black wire going to the negative
(-) terminal. The data (ribbon) cable connects to P3 on the TSP-40A and to
either JP4 on the back of the Operator Interface (OI) (note that the silk
screen on the OI indicates NIM-1M) or to J13 on the back of the PMI-2/PMI-3
(XLS), FCM2041-U2 (Desigo Fire Safety Modular), FCM2041-U3 (Cerberus PRO
Modular) (note that the silk screen on the PMI-2/PMI-3 [XLS], FCM2041-U2
[Desigo Fire Safety Modular], FCM2041-U3 [Cerberus PRO Modular] indicates TSP-
40A). Both ends of the data cable have the same keyed plug that fits only one
way onto the connectors. Refer to Figure 3 for the location of the terminals
on the TSP-40A. To install the paper roll on the TSP-40A follow the steps
listed below (See Figures 4, 5 and 6):
Installing the Paper Roll
- Loosen the two knobs on the printer guide plate and drop the paper guide plate, exposing the printer mechanism.
- Remove the paper dispensing roller.
- Put the roller through the paper roll and place the paper in the dispenser with the loose end of the paper against the printer.
- (Refer to Figure 5.) Push the “Head Up Lever” to the down position to loosen the tension on the roller. Feed the loose end of the paper behind the roller at the top of the printer mechanism.
- Advance the paper by turning the large gear on the right side of the printer mechanism clockwise. Advance the paper until one inch extends out from the printer mechanism.
- Hold the paper with both hands and gently pull until 12 inches of paper extends out from the printer mechanism. Return the “Head Up Lever” to the upright position. (Note: the “Head Up Lever” must be in the upright position for the printer to print.)
- Feed the paper through the slot in the guide plate.
- Return the guide plate to its normal position and secure it with the two knobs.
- Remove the take-up reel by pulling straight out on both sides of the reel.(See Figure 4.)
- Separate the reel by pulling on both ends, revealing the paper retention clip (See Figure 6).
- Place the loose end of the paper over the larger part of the reel and slide the smaller end of the reel over the paper. This locks the paper onto the takeup reel.
- Make sure that the drive gear on the reel is on the left side. Then put the takeup reel back into the retaining clips. Press down until the reel snaps into place. Be sure that the drive gear engaged the drive motor gear.
- Take up any slack in the paper by turning the takeup reel until the paper becomes taut.
The TSP-40A Front Plate mounts on the front of the inner door of the CAB1, CAB2 or CAB3 enclosure over the TSP-40A Printer Module. Insert the three studs on the back of the Front Plate into the holes provided on the U-Shaped Bracket and secure with three of the nuts provided. Refer to Figure 7.
Change the paper roll, following the instructions above, when the paper supply is low, so that you do not lose a printed record of messages sent to a full printer buffer. The paper roll is Siemens P/N 450-934935 or Fujitsu P/N FTP- 040PU004. Press CLEAR to resume printing after changing the paper roll or wait about five minutes for the printer to resume printing automatically.
PROGRAMMING
The TSP-40A must be enabled in the Zeus Programming Tool in order to operate in a FireFinder-XLS/Desigo Fire Safety Modular/Cerberus PRO Modular System.
