Note: Some functionality may not be available on specific models of STB. Functionality may also vary depending on the TV service delivered by your service provider.
Activate batteries
To activate the batteries before first use of the remote control, pull out the plastic tab.
Controlling the STB (pairing the remote control)
The Maxi remote control is designed to control your STB and (optionally) your
TV or auxiliary device (alternative video source). Ensure the STB is powered
on, connected to a TV, and has finished its start-up procedure. Ensure your TV
input source is set to display the output from the STB.
During the initial setup of the STB, you will be guided through the process of
pairing the remote control with the STB. The image below shows what you can
expect to see on your TV screen.
- Point the remote control at the STB. Do not cover the infrared (IR) window on the front of the remote control or at the front of the STB.
- Press and hold the OK key (7) and APPS key (6) simultaneously for 5 seconds or until the STB power key (15) flashes twice to indicate successful pairing.
- Release both keys.
- The STB power light should be illuminated Blue. Once the pairing is successful, the pairing screen will disappear from your screen.
Note: The remote is in “pairing mode” when the STB key (15) is illuminated blue. When in pairing mode, only the BACK key (8) on the remote control will work. You must press the BACK key to exit pairing mode if you wish to use any other function.
Controlling the TV with your Maxi remote
The Maxi remote control for Android TV supports a “Simple Remote Setup”. This
will automatically detect the brand of TV connected to your STB via HDMI.
The setup wizard will guide you through the steps to confirm that the remote
control is able to control certain functions on your TV (volume, mute etc.) as
well as controlling your STB. The image below shows the first screen of the
Simple Remote Setup wizard.
If you a receive a new remote control, you can trigger the Simple Remote Setup
by going to: Settings > Device Preferences > Remotes and Accessories. Select
your remote control from the list on screen and choose “Simple Setup”.
If the Simple Remote Wizard is not displayed or is unsuccessful, please see
section 4 of this guide.
Learning Mode – For use if the Set Up Wizard is unsuccessful
The Maxi ATV remote control can learn a key function from another ‘source’ remote control (e.g. the one supplied with your TV), enabling the Maxi ATV remote control to perform the same function.
-
Choose your ‘target key’ on the Maxi ATV remote control. This key will be the one that learns the function from the source remote control. It must be one of the following keys: TV/AUX POWER (2)/ TV INPUT (1)/ VOL+ / VOL- (9) / MUTE (22).
-
Press the number 4 key and the number 6 key simultaneously for at least three seconds. The TV/AUX POWER key (2) will flash twice and remain on.
-
Press your target key on the Maxi ATV remote control within 30 seconds:
• if the chosen target key is valid for learning mode, the TV/AUX POWER key (2) will give a confirmation flash and remain on.
• if the chosen target key is invalid for learning mode, or you do not press a key within 30 seconds, the TV/AUX POWER key (2) will give a long flash and return to normal mode. Return to step 1 to try again. -
Hold the Maxi ATV remote control 3 – 6 cm from the source remote control with the IR windows facing each other, then press your target key on the source remote control. For example, if your target key on the Maxi ATV remote control is mute, press mute on the source remote control.
-
If the IR signal is received correctly, the TV/AUX POWER key (2) will no longer be illuminated and the remote control will return to normal mode with its newly learned function. This will overwrite any previously learned code on the target key.
-
If the IR signal is not received correctly, or is received after 30 seconds, the Maxi ATV remote control will not store the code from the source remote control. The TV/AUX POWER key (2) will give a long flash and return to normal mode. Return to step 1 to try again.
-
If the Back key is pressed on the remote control while it is waiting for an IR signal, the TV/AUX POWER key (2) will give a long flash and return to normal mode.
-
To clear a learned function from a target key, press the A key (4) and the APPS key (6) simultaneously for at least three seconds.
The TV/AUX POWER key will flash twice and remain on. Then press your target key twice. The TV/AUX POWER key (2) will flash to confirm the target key has been cleared.
How do I return my remote to Factory Settings?
- Press and hold numbers 1 and 6 until the TV/AUX POWER key flashes, then remains on.
- Enter the key sequence 9 8 1 on the remote control text entry keys (10). After completing this sequence, the STB power/ standby key (15) will flash twice. The settings pairing the Maxi ATV remote control with your TV and STB are now deleted from the remote control and it returns to factory settings.
