Read This First

WARNING

  • Remove the power plug before replacing the lamp unit.
    • If the lamp unit is replaced without removing the power plug. electric shocks and breakage may Occur.
  • Wait until the lamp is cooled sufficiently before replacing the lamp unit (wait one hour or longer).
    • The lamp cover gets very hot, and contact with it can cause burns.
  • Do not remove any screws (such as the black screws) other than those indicated when replacing the lamp unit.
    • If this is not observed. electric shocks, burns or other injuries may occur.

Notes on replacing the lamp unit

  • The light source lamp is a glass component. If it is hit on a hard object or dropped, breakage may occur. Be careful when handling a light source lamp.

  • A Phillips screwdriver is necessary when replacing the lamp unit. Hold the screwdriver firmly.

  • Grip the handle when you remove the lamp unit. Some parts of the lamp unit are sharpened and may cause injury.

  • The lamp may be broken. Hold the lamp unit horizontally and exercise care during lamp replace-ment to prevent scattering of glass fragments should the lamp break. If the projector is installed on the ceiling, do not carry out any replacement procedure directly underneath the lamp unit and keep your face away from the unit.

  • The lamp contains mercury. Contact the local government office or distributor for the correct dis-posal of the old lamp unit.

  • If you continue to use a lamp after the replacement time, the lamp may break.

  • Do not disassemble the lamp unit.

  • Dispose of the packaging materials properly after unpacking the product.

Replacing the lamp unit

  • If the projector is operating, turn off the power by the following procedure and wait for the lamp unit to cool down before carrying out replacement.
    1. Press the Power button twice to turn the projector off. (The power indicator lamp will illuminate orange.)
    2. Wait until the power monitor on the projector turns red or starts flashing.
    3. Turn off the MAIN POWER switch and disconnect the power cord plug from the wall outlet.

Replacement procedure

  1. Make sure that components in the vicinity of the lamp unit are cool.

  2. Use a Phillips screwdriver to turn the lamp cover fixing screws (lamp unit compartment fixing screw) (x2) on the projector rear panel until the screws turn freely and remove the lamp cover (lamp unit compartment).

    • Remove the lamp cover by gently pulling it in the direction of the arrow in the figure.
    • The location of the screws may differ with projector model. Check the operating instructions supplied with the projector for information on screw location.
  3. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the two lamp unit fixing screws until the screws turn freely, and then hold the handles of the lamp unit and gently remove the lamp unit from the projector.

  4. Insert the new lamp unit while making sure that the direction is correct, and then use a Phillips screwdriver to securely tighten the two lamp unit fixing screws. When inserting the new lamp unit, be particularly sure to push it in at point ®.

  5. Insert the lamp cover (lamp unit compart-ment) and then use a Phillips screwdriver to securely tighten the two lamp unit fix-ing screws (lamp unit compartment fixing screws).

    • Install the lamp cover by gently pushing it in the di-rection of the arrow in the figure.

Notes

  • Be sure to properly install the lamp unit and the lamp cover (lamp unit compartment).
  • If the lamp unit gets stuck during installation, remove it and try again. Never use force as you risk damaging the connectors.

Note

  • When the lamp unit is replaced, total lamp runtime will automatically be reset to 0.
