Safety Notes

Please note the included General Safety Notes and the following safety notes as well as the safety notes for battery and charger to avoid malfunctions, damage or physical injury:

• Please read this manual carefully and use the compressor only according to this manual.
• Wear ear protection when using the device.
• Dispose of the packaging material or store it out of the reach of children. There is a danger of suffocation!
• Persons with limited physical, sensorial or mental abilities are not allowed to use the device, unless they are supervised and briefed for their safety by a qualified person. Keep the device out of reach of children.
• Do not use the compressor for more than 10 minutes continu-ously and allow it to cool down for at least 10 minutes. Other-wise, the compressor may overheat and become permanently damaged.
• Please switch OFF the unit and unplug from the power supply before cleaning, maintaining or when not in use.
• Do not allow liquids of any kind to enter the unit.
• Do not leave the compressor unattended while it is in opera-tion.
• Keep in mind that the pressure hose may become hot during operation. Caution! There is a danger of injury.
• Check the achieved pressure with an air pressure gauge.
• Do not expose the unit to high temperatures, strong vibration and humidity.
• The compressor is not designed to inflate truck or tractors tyres. The compressor is intended for domestic use only and not for professional, continuous operation.
• Should the unit become damaged do not use it any further and have it repaired by a professional or contact our customer service. Do not disassemble the unit or try repairing it yourself.

Operation

Intended Use
The compressor is intended for filling bicycle and motor vehicle tyres and for inflating toys, floats, balls and the likes. Additionally the compressor can be used to deflate toys, floats, inflatable pools and the likes.
The compressor is not intended for filling lorry or tractor tyres. It is intended for domestic used and not continuous commercial operation.

Unpacking the Compressor

• Carefully unpack and inspect your compressor. Familiarise yourself with all its features and functions.
• Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If any parts are missing or damaged, have such parts replaced before attempting to use the compressor.

Before Use

Please note that that battery and charger are not included with the tool!

Inserting and Removing the Battery

1. To fit a charged battery, slide it on to the hand grip of the cordless drill until it clicks and locks into position.
2. To remove the battery (10) from the tool, press the battery release button, then slide the battery off the hand grip.

WARNING: Do not try to remove the battery without pressing the battery release button. The cordless drill or battery could be damaged.
Note: Make sure the battery and cordless drill are lined up correctly. If the battery does not slide into the tool easily, do not force it. Instead, slide the battery out of the tool again, check the top of battery and the cordless drill battery slot are clean and undamaged and that the contacts are not bent.

Battery Charge Level The battery has a built-in charge indicator. Pressing on the button to the right will indicate the charge level. The right LED indicates a high charge level and the left a low charge level that will mean the battery pack will quire charging soon.
IMPORTANT: When a low charge level is indicated be aware the tool may stop operating while using the tool. In some instances this may be dangerous. It is recommended to always ensure the battery pack has a good charge level.

The High and Low Pressure Hoses
The compressor is equipped with a high pressure hose (1) and a low pressure hose (2). The high pressure hose is for inflating high pressure items like tyres and sports balls. The low pressure hose is designed for inflating or deflating low pressure, high volume items like air rafts, mattresses, and beach balls.
Note: Pressure gauge display and preset features are used only in high pressure hose applications.

The Main Switch
Set the main switch (3) to the I position to turn on the low pressure pump or the II position to turn on the high pressure pump. Set the main switch to the O or centre position to turn off the compressor.

The operating Panel and the digital Gauge
The digital gauge in the operating panel (4) shows the current and the preselected pressure. The pressure can be displayed in psi, bar, kPa, and kg/cm2.

• The digital gauge turns on while the main switch is in the high pressure position II.
  Note : Make sure digital gauge is set at 0 before use. If gauge reads “Err” or needs resetting, remove the battery and replace it after at least 10 seconds.

• To change the units in which the air pressure is displayed the compressor must be in the measuring mode (current value is dis-played). Press the “Unit” button to switch through the available units. The units are indicated on the right side of the display.

• Use the (+) and (-) buttons to set the target value. To change the value more rapidly hold the respective button. When the desired target value is displayed, press the “Start” button to start up the compressor.

• To permanently set a target value repeatedly press the “Select” button until the a “1” is displayed at the bottom of the display next to the target value. Press the “Memo” button. The selected target value flashes briefly and is saved. It reappears when this function is se-lected again with the “Select” button.

• The compressor comes with three preset values. You can select these values with the “Select” button: A value for balls is preset (0.7 bar), a value for typical bicycle tyres (3.80 bar), and a values for typical automotive tyres (2.30 bar). Together with the values a ball, bicycle or car symbol is displayed in the right hand side of the dis-play.

• With the “Start” button you can turn on the high pressure pump.

The Work Light
The compressor is equipped with a work light (8). The work light turns on when the compressor is turned on. It turns off a few seconds after the compressor is turned off.

Inflating Items
Note: Do not use the compressor for more than 10 minutes continuous-ly and allow it to cool down for at least 10 minutes. Otherwise, the compressor may overheat and become permanently damaged.

Inflating with the high Pressure Hose
The air chuck on the high pressure hose (1) can be used without adaptor to inflate motor vehicle tyres or with any application that has a valve stem that fits the air chuck opening.
Note: When inflating items of 1.0 PSI or less, inflate in short bursts and check after each burst by feel or with a calibrated measuring device to determine accurate pressure.

• Set the desired target pressure.

• Clamp the end of the air chuck down onto the valve stem by pressing air chuck clamp down until it stops or is parallel with the high pressure air hose.
  Note: The pressure readout on the gauge while inflating ls a measurement of the fluctuating pressure between the item and the high pressure hose. To get an accurate reading, stop inflating and follow above instructions for reading the air pressure.

• Set the main switch (3) to II to start inflating.

• The compressor will run until the target pressure is slightly exceed-ed, then it will decrease the pressure to reach the target pressure.

• When the desired pressure is reached and the compressor has stopped set the main switch to O.

• Remove the hose and store in hose wrap on the right side of the compressor.

• Turn off the display by pressing and holding the (+) and (-) buttons until the display turns off.

Note: Stand at least half a metre away from item being inflated.
Use of the Adaptors
The high pressure air hose can be used with the provided adaptors to inflate a variety of items.

• Insert the adaptor (or needle) into the air chuck and push the air chuck clamp down until it locks into place. Inflate to the desired pressure.
• Remove the adaptor by lifting the air chuck clamp up and pulling the adaptor (or needle) from the air chuck.

Inflating with the low Pressure Hose
The low pressure hose ls used to inflate low pressure items, such as air mattresses, pools, and floats.
Note: A pinch valve adaptor (7) comes as part of the inflating nozzle assembly that is attached to the end of the low pressure hose. The pinch valve adaptor is used for items that have a smaller air opening or pinch valve. Insert pinch valve adaptor into pinch valve, insuring that the tip of the adaptor is inserted past the inner “flap” inside the valve. When inflating, ensure that the tip is not blocked during inflation.

• To attach the low pressure hose, align the slots in the hose with the pins on the sides of the inflation flange (5).
• Turn the hose clockwise as far as it will turn.
• Use the suitable adaptor to connect the hose to the item to be inflated.
• Set the main switch (3) to low pressure (I) to start inflating.
• When the desired pressure is reached set the main switch to O and close the valve of the item inflated.
• Remove the hose by turning it counter clockwise as far as it will turn and removing it from the inflation flange.
• Store the hose in hose wrap on the left side of the compressor.
  Note: Always leave low pressure hose free of obstructions and with pinch valve adaptor off when not in use. Overheating could occur if the low pressure hose ls blocked.

Deflating with the low Pressure Hose
The low pressure hose, when placed ln the deflation flange (6), can be used to remove air from inflated items.

• Place the hose inside the deflation flange (6).
• Set the main switch to low pressure (I) to start deflating.
• When the item has been deflated, turn the main switch to O.
• Remove the hose by pulling if from the deflation flange.
• Store the hose in hose wrap on the left side of the compressor.

Inflating manually for high and low Pressure Applications

• Connect either high or low pressure hose to the compressor and to the item to be inflated.

• Set the main switch to I or II (low or high pressure) until desired pressure is reached.
  Note : Stand half a metre away from item being inflated.

• Set the main switch to O.

Accessories

The supplied accessories perform a variety of functions.
The tapered adaptor can be used on smaller pinch valves to inflate items like floats and children’s toys, which usually require the user to inflate them by blowing air into item. The sport ball needle can be used to inflate any type of sports ball or any other item that requires an inflation sport ball needle.
Note: When inflating items of 1 o PSI or lass, inflate ln short bursts and check after each burst by feel or with a calibrated measuring device to determine accurate pressure.

How to use the Sport Ball Needle

• Insert the needle into the air chuck on the hig pressure hose (1) and push the air chuck clamp down until it locks into place. Inflate to the desired pressure.
• Insert the moistened sport ball needle into sports ball valve and inflate.
• Remove sport ball needle from the ball and from the air chuck after Inflation.

Note: The pressure required for most sports balls ls too low for accurate reading on gauge.

How to use the Presta Valve Adaptor

The Presta valve adaptor can be used for Presta valve stems as described below. Before inflating a tyre with a Presta valve, loosen the locking nut on top of the valve. Once Inflation is complete, tighten the locking nut 1o seal the tyre valve.

• Loosen the Presta valve locking nut.
• Thread the Presta valve adaptor onto the valve stem with the adaptor’s interior threads.
• Position the air chuck clamp in the unlock position.
• Clamp the end of the air chuck down onto the Presta valve adaptor by pressing air chuck clamp down until it locks into place.
• Inflate the tyre.
• After inflation, remove air chuck and Presta valve adaptor and tighten locking nut with your fingers. Do not use tools.

Accessories Storage
When not in use, adaptors and needles provided with the compressor can be placed in the storage area (9) located on the right side of the compressor.

Hoses Storage
When not in use, the hoses provided with the inflator can be placed ln the storage areas located on both sides of the compressor.

Service
Warning : Always disconnect from the mains power supply, before carrying out any maintenance/cleaning of the charger. Remove the battery before carrying out any maintenance/cleaning of the tool.
Note : Both the tool and the charger contain no user-serviceable parts. If the device does not perform as outlined in this manual, turn to the Westfalia customer service or to a competent professional.

General Inspection

• Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight as they may become loosened during use due to vibration.
• Inspect the supply cord of the charger for damage or wear prior to each use. Repairs should be carried out by an authorised service centre. This advice also applies to extension cords used with this tool.

Battery Disposal

1. Run motor until the battery is completely discharged.
2. Remove the battery from the tool.
3. Wrap heavy insulating tape around the battery terminals or enclose in a sealable plastic bag to prevent possible shorting.
4. Dispose of the battery through your local waste removal authority.

Maintenance and Cleaning

• Remove the battery before undertaking any cleaning or maintenance work.
• Use only a moist cloth to clean the unit. Do not use aggressive chemicals which may dissolve plastic parts, or abrasives. Always keep the ventilation slots clean and free from obstructions.
• The cordless drill is maintenance-free.
• The battery can be recharged up to 500 times if treated carefully.

However, over time the battery’s performance can deteriorate. If necessary you can purchase a 2.0 Ah replacement battery under the article number 87 84 74 and a 4.0 Ah replacement battery under the article number 87 84 75 from Westfalia.

Red and green LEDs do not illuminate to indicate the Battery is charging correctly| Battery not correctly connected to Charger| Clean Battery Socket of Charger and Battery Contacts and fully slide on to Charger so it clicks in a locked Position
Charger not powered| Recheck Mains Connection
Battery Pack has low capacity| Battery not being fully charged| Do not remove Battery until a full Charge is indicated
