Intended use
Etac Flex is a wall-mounted support handle intended for use as a transfer and standing support for people with impaired mobility. Etac Flex is intended for use in home environments and in institutions, i.e. hospitals and nursing homes. Etac Flex is not intended to be sat on, or to be used in any other way or in any other environment than those stated above. Etac Flex has been tested and complies with the requirements set out in EN ISO 10993-1 and SS EN 12182. The product conforms to the requirements of the Medical Devices Regulation (EU) 2017/745. This manual applies for Etac Flex when mounting it with glue. When mounting it with screws, see separate manual under www.etac.com.

Maintenance and safety……………………. Figure C
C1. Clean/disinfect the product using a standard nonabrasive cleaning agent
with a pH between 5 and 9, or with a 70% disinfectant solution.
Rinse and dry. The product requires no other maintenance.
C2. The product can be safely cleaned in a cabinet washer-disinfector at 85°C
for 3 minutes.
C3. Max. user weight 100 kg (220 lbs) (when installed properly on a sturdy
surface, the product fulfils the requirements for a user weight of 100 Kg.
However, grab bars are not designed to support a person’s total weight but
rather to provide stability and assistance).
**** C4. A defective or incorrectly mounted product should not be used. In
the event of a fault, contact your prescriber or retailer.
C5. Heated products can cause burns.
Constituent materials are corrosion-resistant.
Constituent materials are resistant to standard disinfection agents.
(This applies after 24 hours, when the glue used during installation has
hardened).
In case of an adverse event occurred in relation to use of the device, it
should be reported to your local dealer and the national competent authority
in atimely manner.
The local dealer will forward information to the manufacturer.
Guarantee, service life
5-year guarantee against material and manufacturing defects. For terms and conditions, see www.etac.com. Service life 10 years. For complete information regarding the service life of the product, see www.etac.com. The product’s date of manufacture can be read from the barcode on the product. The number 11 is shown below the barcode in brackets. The number combination after these brackets is the date of manufacture. The minimum shelf life of the glue is stated on the glue tube in the DDMMYY format. In the unlikely event that the glue in the tube has hardened, contact your retailer to replace the glue tube.
Storage
The product should be stored indoors in a dry place at atemperature above 5°C. If the product has been stored for a long time (more than four months), its function must be checked by an expert before use.
**** Tubes with hardened glue should not be used.

Etac Flex can be mounted in different positions. The additional handle can be
mounted at angles of 22.5° between 0 and 90°. Etac Flex can be extended by an
unlimited number of additional handles.
Mounting options
Etac Flex has been designed to withstand a maximum user weight of 100 kg (220
lbs) and should only be mounted onto a wall with sufficient load-bearing
capacity.
Glue: The glue kit can be used to mount the handle on tiles, glass, stone or
metal walls.
Inspect the surface to be sure it is completely flat at all fastening points.
The bar should not rock or have gaps between the base and the wall.
If in doubt about the wall’s load-bearing capacity or thesuitability of
mounting with glue, an assessment should be carried out by a qualified person.
**** Mounting on a wall with insufficient load-bearing capacity poses a
danger to the user!
Do not glue the product onto concrete, plaster, wallpaper, veneer or any other
covering.
Cleaning prior to mounting ………………… Figur E
- E1-E5. Cleaning: Ensure that limescale deposits and other dirt is removed by cleaning the mounting surfaces. The following cleaning method is recommended:
E1. Use a sanding sponge with sandpaper surface (80).
Clean the mounting surface using the sponge and a detergent (PH 5-9) suitable for the surface. Ensure that the surface is completely free of limestone residues and dirt. Note! Start by testing the sanding sponge with detergent on a less visible area to ensure that the surface is not scratched.
E2. Wipe off and dry the surface.
E3. Wash the surface with the wet wipe supplied to remove any residues from the detergent (the alcohol cleaning cloth should only be used for its intended purpose. It can only work adequately if opened directly before use).
E4. Wipe the surface with a clean, lint-free cloth.
E5. Wait until the surface is completely dry and has had time to adapt to room temperature.
If you are not sure, wait for 15 minutes.
Other cleaning methods may be required to ensure that the mounting surface is clean.

**** The glue’s adhesive effect cannot be guaranteed if the mounting surface
has not been fully cleaned.
Etac Flex must be mounted on a dry surface.
F/G 1. Place the glue plate(s) in the handle with the protective tape
outwards.
F/G 2. Remove the protective tape.
F/G 3. Press the glue plate(s) into place against the wall where the handle is
to be positioned.
F/G 4. Carefully remove the handle(s).
F/G 5. Press the glue plates into place to ensure that the tape adheres
securely to the wall.
F/G 6. Insert the tube of glue into the large hole and squeeze glue in until
you see glue coming out of the smaller hole.
Do not press on the glue plate after it has been filled with glue.
F/G 7. Wipe off any excess glue.
Do not use any other adhesive than provided with the product.
F/G 8. Screw the handle(s) into place. Use the longer screws for the common
fixing point(s) (60 cm).
Do not use a screwdriver! Use the Allen key supplied.
F/G 9. Indicate date and time when the product is ready for use on the
accompanying installation tag and hang it on the product.
Do not expose the product to any loads or moisture for a period of 24
hours after mounting. This gives the glue time to harden.
Removing glue ………………………………… Figure H
H1. Twist the glue plate off the wall using adjustable pliers.
H2. Scrape off any glue residues with a glass scraper.
H3. Glue residues can be washed off using silicone remover.
