IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS!
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS AND DELIVER TO OWNER AFTER INSTALLATION
To reduce the risk of death, personal injury or property damage from fire,
electric shock, falling parts, cuts/abrasions, and other hazards please read
all warnings and instructions included with and on the fixture box and all
fixture labels. Before installing, servicing, or performing routine
maintenance upon this equipment, follow these general precautions.
Installation and service of luminaires should be performed by a qualified
licensed electrician. Maintenance of the luminaires should be performed by
person(s) familiar with the luminaires’ construction and operation and any
hazards involved. Regular fixture maintenance programs are recommended. It
will occasionally be necessary to clean the outside of the refractor/lens.
Frequency of cleaning will depend on ambient dirt level and minimum light
output which is acceptable to user. Refractor/lens should be washed in a
solution of warm water and any mild, non-abrasive household detergent, rinsed
with clean water and wiped dry. Should optical assembly become dirty on the
inside, wipe refractor/lens and clean in above manner, replacing damaged
gaskets as necessary.
DO NOT INSTALL DAMAGED PRODUCT! This luminaire has been properly packed so that no parts should have been damaged during transit. Inspect to confirm. Any part damaged or broken during or after assembly should be replaced. If the lamp is marked (Hg) it contains Mercury. Follow all disposal laws. See www.lamprecycle.org. These instructions do not purport to cover all details or variations in equipment nor to provide every possible contingency to meet in connection with installation, operation, or maintenance. Should further information be desired or should particular problems arise which are not covered sufficiently for the purchaser’s or owner’s purposes, this matter should be referred to Acuity Brands Lighting, Inc.
WARNING
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
- Disconnect or turn off power before installation or servicing.
- Verify that supply voltage is correct by comparing it with the luminaire label information.
- Make all electrical and grounded connections in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and any applicable local code requirements.
- All wiring connections should be capped with UL approved recognized wire connectors.
CAUTION RISK OF INJURY
- Wear gloves and safety glasses at all times when removing luminaire from carton, installing, servicing or performing maintenance.

HSTLED GRID INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: THIS LIGHT FIXTURE IS DESIGNED FOR INSTALLATION IN A T-GRID-TYPE
SUSPENDED CEILING. THE FIXTURE MUST BE SUSPENDED FROM STRUCTURAL MEMBERS OF
THE BUILDING ABOVE THE CEILING GRID. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PERSON
INSTALLING THE LIGHT FIXTURE TO ENSURE THAT THE MATERIALS, HARDWARE AND
BUILDING STRUCTURAL MEMBERS THAT ARE SELECTED WILL SUPPORT THE LIGHT
FIXTURE(S) AND THAT THEY MEET ALL APPLICABLE BUILDING AND SAFETY CODES. MUST
be installed by certified electrician.
The HSTLED can mount in standard grids ranging from 9/16” to 1 ½” wide (Figure
1). Grid spacing MUST BE 48” x 24” center to center for HSTLED24 and 24”x 24”
center to center for HSTLED22.
Note hinge side of fixture should be facing away from bed The HSTLED Troffer cannot be supported by grid
alone. Tie wire or threaded rods MUST BE USED to support the
weight of the fixture.
Ensure end flanges of fixture are properly secured to housing with nuts before
lifting into place. For ease of installation remove door by opening door
perpendicular to housing, unscrew nuts holding safety cable to housing, then
lift and remove from hinge. The fixture can be secured to plenum by two
methods, threaded rod or suspension wire.
Threaded Rod
Step 1
Remove the four thumb nuts that retain side covers (Figure 2).
Step 2
With side covers removed knock out the four 13/32” diameter knockouts at
the four corners of the housing (Figure 3).
Step 3
Threaded rod up to 3/8” diameter may be used to hang fixture. Secure
threaded rod to floor of fixture with a washer and nut on the inside and
outside of the fixture floor (Figure 4). Tighten nuts against each other.
Repeat in all four corners. Secure upper ends of threaded rods to building
structure with suitable attachment means. For spacing between knockouts see
Table 1 and Figure 5.
Fixture | Length Spacing | Width Spacing |
---|---|---|
HSTLED24 | 38” | 17 1/4” |
HSTLED22 | 17 1/2” | 17 1/4” |
Step4
With fixture secured to ceiling reinstall side covers and install door on
housing hinge. Attach the two safety cables and one ground wire from the door
to the housing before screwing door close.
Suspension Wire
Step 1
Knock out the eight (two in each corner) 0.25”x0.50” oblong knockouts. For
spacing between knockouts see Table 2 and Figure 6.
Fixture | Length Spacing | Width Spacing |
---|---|---|
HSTLED24 | 44 1/4” | 18 1/4” |
HSTLED22 | 20 1/4” | 18 1/4” |
Step 2
Pass suitable sized wire through oblongs from the outside and return it
though the adjacent oblong from the inside. Wrap the end of the wire around
the supporting length to secure fixture to building support (Figure 7)
Care should be taken to avoid trapping an electrical wire in the suspension wire loop inside the fixture
Step 3
With fixture secured to ceiling reinstall side covers and install door on
housing hinge. Attach the two safety cables and one ground wire from the door
to the housing before screwing door close.
Swing Arms
This fixture comes with four Swing Arms that can be used to level fixture. To
bring the arms down screw clockwise from below using a flat head screw driver
(Figure 8). The swing arm can travel roughly 1.25” to accommodate various
ceiling support systems (Figure 9). Healthcare Lighting 3 Kilmer Rd, Edison,
